The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for Beginners tutorial. The SQL Server 2005 Express database tutorial helps users understand what a database is, it explains how to create tables within a database and how users can covert flat databases into relational databases. This tutorial was basically designed to give users the basic knowledge of creating data bases. Databases are nothing more than a collection of files that work together to store data in a structured way. I think that this tutorial would be very helpful for some that works at a company that deals with databases such as insurance companies or banks. If I was a CIO of a company I wouldn’t want to have any and everybody creating databases for my organization. I would leave that up to my IT Department to create the databases and they have them put the databases on the network for other users to access in input information. I took a class once dealing with MS Access to learn how to create databases and some of the information in this tutorial was very similar to work with MS Access. Creating tables, columns, entering data, selecting the column data type and selecting the option for the primary or foreign key was pretty much all the same. The one thing that was different was that the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition has a definition view which in my opinion makes creating tables and columns a lot easier. If I would have took this tutorial I would have understood MS Access a little more because it explained every little detail about almost everything. I wasn’t that comfortable with working with creating databases before this tutorial but I can say that after this tutorial to go along with the information that I’ve already obtained with working with MS Access I definitely feel more comfortable with creating and
