Students go to school to prepare themselves for the future. For when they go buy their first car or when they finally move out of their parent’s house. From their first job to paying their own bills. I know how fortunate I am to go to Franklin High School but I feel that Franklin Public Schools has not prepared me for the real world, the one that I will enter once I have completed school. Over the course of these past four years, I’ve learned and figured out that much of what we are being taught will have no use for me in the future. I’ve even had teachers who have told me that. For example, I still have no clue how insurance for your home or car works but I do know how to find the first and second derivative of any given function and give
A lot of people set a challenge to improve. By setting a challenge, individuals work hard, asking for help and advice from experienced advisors. Challenges motivate people and keep them working hard. The most significant challenge I have faced was getting a full scholarship into the private school, American Heritage High School in Plantation. This challenge was crucial for me because I came to United States in the middle of sixth grade. I went to Falcon Cove Middle School, and the school placed me in regular classes within the ESOL program. The ESOL program is a program designed for foreign students who do not speak English well. I got out of the program once I passed the placement test to the Cambridge program. In middle school, I won a variety
The school is testing ground for the brain. I believe that the student should be exposed to new ideas, experiences, techniques and methods so as to further develop their own capacities to adapt, change, learn, and grow as people. One of the most important goals of the school, if not the most significant, is to develop literate and productive members of society, who are able to converse with a variety of issues using varied methods of communication and media. All students should be encouraged to make thoughtful contributions to society, no matter how large or small they may be. Also, the school is not confined to a
I have been involved in the Future Farmers of America chapter at Powhatan High School since my sophomore year of high school. I took my first agriculture class sophomore year because my older sister had taken a welding class and thoroughly enjoyed it. When in the class I learned about FFA and decided to join the club because I found it interesting. That year I learned more about the organization and became interested in becoming more involved in the organization. By becoming more involved in the FFA organization, I began to become passionate about the organization and wanted to ;earn how to become more involved. At the end of my sophomore year, I interviewed to become the Reporter of the Powhatan High School FFA chapter and I was honored to be appointed to the position. Once appointed the position, I was learned leadership and organizational skills in this position. At the end of my junior year, I was appointed the a Vice Resident of Chapter and I am currently serving in this position.
Schools today, are a place for students to come and learn as much as they can. Only by valuing their time spent there can students learn how important their education really
High schools work to offer more learning materials, however, it will only benefit those who attempt to receive guidance. One of the programs states, “We try to build some relevance into their experience to go along with the regular curriculum... So many of these ninth graders- particularly in high-poverty areas-just do not see any reason to stay in school” (Willens para 11). Students in the ninth grade are given the chance to grow better as a student and benefit them and “goals are set for every student, and the aides are available 24/7 and serve as links between child and school, parent and school, and child and parent” (Willens para
money to support yourself? Last but not least, Pine Island needs to teach their students how to invest in their future. It would have been nice to know that there were tools out there such as money bonds and the stock market that I could have been investing in to help increase my financial stability over time. I have many friends that have set up money bonds that have grown over 4 percent in only three years’ time! The money in which I possess could have been growing in money bonds or even in the stock market, but my high school failed to teach me either of those options. Pine Island High School needs to step up their game and start teaching students how to properly manage their
William Cullen Bryant High School is the home of the OWLS! Or should I say, my second home. I must avow that Bryant High School is the best school in Queens. I love my school because of its superb Law and Forensics program. I’ve had the honor of meeting Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Bernie Sanders, and Governor Andrew Cuomo. Bryant’s Law and Forensics program have opened my wondering eyes to programs and initiative I never imagined being a part of. I’ve participated in a plethora of extracurricular activities in school and out of school. Bryant has so many sports teams and after school programs, so students can have a forum to express their gifts and talents—I am truly blessed to be a garment of Bryant High School. The teachers are welcoming, I
I am interested in working as a Third Grade Teacher at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary, for Durango School District 9-R, because we share valuable goals such as providing innovative education and instilling the love of learning to encourage children to become life-long learners. I have experience with primary and intermediate grade levels and I would enjoy teaching in a third grade classroom. I would like to teach for Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary, because I would enjoy being part of a school which values community and student growth through closing the achievement gap.
I am impressed with the academic and athletic program Archbishop Mitty High School has to offer. When I shadowed at the school I felt the spirit and camaraderie amongst the students. The instructors were welcoming and some had me participate as if I were a part of the class. The campus is impressive and I noticed plans of expansion with the construction of the science building. Continuing to receive religious educational instruction will reconfirm my familial belief in the Supreme Being which is important in the making of an individual's spiritual and moral convictions. This is another aspect why I choose to study at AMHS. Opportunities to explore my interest is plentiful at AMHS through clubs, sports, and charitable organizations. It
I am interested in working as a Paraprofessional within the Minot Public Schools system. I knew that I wanted to work in Education since I was young. I had the oppertunity to assist students and teachers during my Senior year of High School. I have worked primarily with students in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. I worked in a 4th Grade general education classroom,a 3rd grade general music classroom, and a 4th grade general music classroom. I have also volunteered within a Special Education classroom. I completed my First Practicum when I went to college at Minnesota State University Moorhead. My family relocated to Minot. I have relocated to Minot recently and I am looking for work in
As the acting administrator, it would be difficult learning about the actions of Mrs. Wright. In my school I want my students to feel respected and safe and what she is accused of isn’t allowing Julie to feel that way. “We believe it is the function of the Franklin County Community School Corporation to educate our students for a life that will be satisfying and meaningful to them as persons and will contribute to the improvement of their community, state, and nation. The educational system shall be student-centered, addressing their needs and potential so they may be more adequately prepared vocationally, socially, intellectually, and morally” (Franklin Handbook, 2014, pg. 2). If the allegations are true then she is violating our mission as a corporation and should be punished accordingly. I think it is important that we investigate these accusations before jumping to conclusions, but this is issue is a serious matter and she has been looked at in a negative light from the school board. As the administrator, I will investigate to see if she is discriminating Julia and further investigate her attitude to her peers as well as myself. In Franklin County Community School Corporation we are given one year contracts so at the end of this investigation I will have to determine if we should offer Mrs. Wright a contract the following year. I will look into her evaluations and conduct with the staff to determine if she is the right fit for our staff. Having a
Dickenson County Public School’s mission statement is ‘to provide a safe, nurturing environment to educate and inspire students...’ To achieve this DCPS has a zero tolerance for bullying. On page 46 of the Parent/Student Handbook bullying states:
High schools implement reforms that build student character, skills and commitment to the community. Berman, S. wants to know how to engage students to become more effective citizens. He believes that building a strong academic program for the students is important but the teachers also need to create a school that is open and welcoming.
This is about school getting kids ready for their future. People around the world want to help kids get smart. They think it would be great for kids to get smart. It is important for kids to be smart and ready for their futures to keep life going on earth and for it to go well. Schools can help kids get ready for their futures by allowing kids to have adventures in a safe way. Field trips are a great way for schools to do this. Kids should go to school to be ready for their futures.
Yet, the education does not stop at middle school, for high school really puts all the basic skills from elementary and middle school to work as the assignments and the exams become more challenging. We do not only learn about reading, writing, history, and math, we learn about the people around us as we associate with different personalities, and as we see what we have grown up to be and what we want to be later in life. Accordingly, the high school years are a time when teachers emphasize the importance of graduating and attending college in order to have a “succesful future.”
