Marc, Attached please find a Power Point presentation slide deck that we have prepared for the National Union Staff. We will provide an overview of the I-130 pilot Immigration Benefit Fraud Assessment (IBFA) (Slides A through D), the expected timeline to complete the pilot study (Slide E), and our expectations for officers who have volunteered to participate in the study(Slide F). We would end our presentation with a discussion on the best way to solicit volunteer immigration service officers to help adjudicate the selected study cases. Please distribute the material to your invitees. We appreciate your assistance with this effort. Sincerely, Anna
America has been a melting pot of cultures for many centuries, with the number of immigrants continually rising every year. Most of these immigrants come into the country with nothing at all except for the clothes on their backs and a few English words. But they also bring with them something special – their cultures and traditions from their homeland. In the Immigrant Advantage, readers can see that these specific traditions that they bring with them give them an advantage because they tend to have better mental and physical health than their native born American counterparts (5).
But, why do people still want to come to U.S?Because of various reasons, some of them want freedom, others says they have escaped from their government, some people consider U.S the land of dreams, some people might come because of employment opportunities, some others want to get rich, quite a few others want to practice their religion without any fear. Finally, they all came to have and build a better life. They want to have a better future, a good job, a fancy car, a huge house, and safety.
While reading The Immigration Kaleidoscope: Knowing the Immigrant Family Next Door I could not help but think back to when I was working in the restaurant industry. A lot of the kitchen workers had immigrated to America from various countries but mostly Mexico. One of my favorite coworkers Anna, who moved to America from Mexico to send money back to her family, forcing her to leave her young daughter behind.
values, talents, and contributions of immigrants. People from all over the world seek the United States for just one honest reason, a better life and future. Most of the immigrant families and their children come from Mexico, Central and South America, and even Asia. These people enter the United States via one of three modes of entry, legal immigration, illegal entry, and as refugees. Because of their legal status, many immigrants are illegible to receive any type of public services such as healthcare and public education. This is something that has been going on for years, and many Americans feel that it is a fair thing to do. By actually providing illegal immigrants to have access to public services the United States could benefit a lot from it, starting with a healthier and safer environment, also, having access to public education will help the economy in the long run, and lastly, after obtaining a college degree, it is extremely possible for them to get a good paying job.
“The Immigrant Advantage: What We Can Learn from Newcomers to America about Health, Happiness, and Hope” Book Review
Ever since 2001, when the tragedy of September 11th happened, many citizens in the U.S. have a fear of allowing immigrants into the United States. Some citizens judge that immigration is an impending threat to national security, and that the U.S. should close the borders up for good. The U.S. should not consider that because everything negative that occurs in the U.S. is not due to immigrants. The government can stop illegal immigration right now, but would it not affect the U.S. more to do so? Restrictionists claim that large-scale immigration, legal and illegal has depressed wages, burdened government resources, and acted as a net drain on the economy. However, if immigration is stopped completely the reduction of workers would cause the inflation of money to decrease therefore, causing the economy to plunge downward. People come to the U.S. to escape persecution from their country, work and make a living. Third world immigration is not a threat to America’s way of life because immigrants work, immigrants participate, and immigration already responds reasonably well to America 's economy. Thus, if immigration is eliminated, the U.S. would have fewer workers and the economy would not flow smoothly because the immigrant workers make the jobs and economy better. America should allow immigrants because they are essential to the growth of the American economy.
Being an immigrant in the United States is hard. People come here to work and bring their children, because there’s more opportunities here and the country is known for being a free land. But they are being sent back to a place where they don’t get the same things as they do here.Immigrants are also a big part of the U.S because most are in the fields, construction, landscaping, and all these jobs that are hard. Immigrants shouldn’t be deported because they are here to work hard, to help out their families and also live the American dream like any other.
In the article “The Health Toll of Immigration” by Sabrina Tavernise explains that immigrants of Hispanic heritage live longer than American born persons of Hispanic heritage. Many causes of this have been suspected such as smoking and drinking but ultimately it is the American diet of fast food that seems to be the reason for poor health (Tavernise 2013). Fast food was a luxury to some and to others it was a money saver. Fast food is fast and cheap making it an easy stop for many families on the run. The statistic is that “Hispanic immigrants live 2.9 years longer than American-born Hispanics” (Tavernise 2013). America’s fast food diet has also been moving into Mexico. When it comes to obesity “Hispanic adults are also 14 percent more likely to be obese…for
Over the years, laws have been put into place to handle issues dealing with immigrants and the law. Immigrants are still held responsible for their actions regardless of their legal status in the country. The Illegal Immigrant Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRAIRA) was established to define the consequences of laws that are broken by immigrants. The laws that are analyzed are ones that would result in deportation and or possibly detention. IIRAIRA may have limited the scope of immigration-related litigation in the United States is that it frequently puts immigrants in the same category as criminal defendants, which most likely influences how they are viewed by courts and by policy makers. Indeed, this conflating of the criminal and the immigrant has had its own subconscious negative effect on the view of immigrants (particularly those from Mexico and Central America) within the judiciary and, one would
There can be various polarizing opinions and views regarding the immigration situation in the United States. Arguments from both sides can vary greatly from each point of view. Although some people favor restricted immigration, open immigration is the best way for the United States and shares the values of the American people. Open immigration benefits the economy in various ways. It enables undocumented immigrants to come out from the shadows so they can legally and safely obtain jobs which will benefit the economy. Immigration would help people get jobs legally so they can earn more than if they were undocumented, meaning they would also spend more in the economy which would benefit their economies. Immigrants coming from different parts
In the article “Poor Immigrants Use Public Benefits at a Lower Rate than Poor Native-Born Citizens” authors Leighton Ku and Brian Bruen provide graphs and data research that shows native-born citizens use welfare programs from the government more than immigrant families use the welfare assistance. Immigrant eligibility to receive benefits varies on the type of status they hold, which affects what types of benefits they can receive (Ku and Bruen 2013, pg.1). The first figure shows that native-born and naturalized citizens use Medicaid for a combined percentage of 54.6 percentage while non-citizens use Medicaid at 19.7% (Ku and Bruen 2013, pg.2). Ku and Bruen say “A major reason for these gaps is strict benefit eligibility barriers for many
To a very great extent, the increased expenditure by the United States government on immigration policy has been justified. With the projected effect of this in the long terms, it follows that the government is indeed making conscious efforts towards realizing that it is able to achieve the long term benefits of this very course of action. The binding factor is that to achieve these long term economic benefits of immigration policy, the United States government should be ready to meet the cost of the same specifically through inflated government expenditure (Ewing, 2013).
In essence for many their motivation is to improve their life styles and obtaining a higher education will be the way to move up to a higher social class. Providing a better life for their families is a desire strong enough that ensures these young immigrants becoming very dedicated workers. A really good example of of the positive impact legalizing immigrants will have is the program implements by the Department of Homeland Security called Differed Action for Childhood Arrivals also know in acronym as DACA. This program gives permission for those who apply and qualified to remain in the country with legal status and can continue to remain in the country as long as their permit is renewed every two years if the requirements are met. This program since its implementation “has positively affected thousands of lives, providing opportunities and benefits that many young noncitizens had been denied for years” (Reeves, 2014). In addition many immigrants coming into the country have skill sets or high education levels that make them potential workers to meet the demands of domestic employers throughout the country.
There’s a program that has been started in the greater Miami area for immigrants. The program is called “Open Hands”. This program is designed to help immigrant children have a safe place to learn and stay while their parents are out working, ultimately helping the whole family. The program is non-profit and should expect to include support from local businesses, churches and volunteers.
Why do trump want to send all immigrants back? Is It Because there all bad or is he just that hateful that he doesn't want anybody else to succeed. No one knows but im sure we all have theories or our educated guesses.
