Any facility or organization needs to have a structure in order to function effectively. I found two nonprofit hospitals just an hour apart from each other. The first hospital is Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) a 61-bed not-for-profit community hospital located in southeastern Vermont with a mission to provide community-based quality health services delivered with compassion and respect (BMH, n.d., para. 1-2). I have not found an organizational chart in their website, however, BMH is governed by bylaws and a volunteer board of directors in which according to Yoder-Wise (2015) coincides with the definition for private non-profit organizations. That said, the board of directors provides their expertise to make decisions on the overall governance …show more content…
122). The second nonprofit hospital is Dartmouth-Hitchcock which is a teaching hospital that serves a wide area in New England and as an academic health system. It includes Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, and The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic (Dartmouth-Hitchcock, 2016a). Dartmouth-Hitchcock is a huge organization with a common mission to “advance health through research, education, clinical practice and community partnerships, providing each person the best care, in the right place, at the right time, every time” (Dartmouth-Hitchcock, 2016c, para. 1). As a nonprofit organization, Dartmouth-Hitchcock has a dedicated Board of Trustees who ensures that the hospital meet its mission and vision. Aside from the Board of Trustees who oversee the overall function of the hospital, its organizational structure is the bureaucracy style in which “the communication and decisions flow from top to bottom” (Yoder-Wise, 2015, p. 143). Aside from that, there is a labor specialization in which patient care is provided because each health system has its own specialty, such as the children’s hospital, which specializes in pediatric care, the Norris Cotton Cancer Center which specializes in cancer treatment, research, prevention, and education. Dartmouth-Hitchcock has a CEO, more than one executive VP, chief medical officer, chief nursing officer, and other duties relating to the management of the hospital. Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s CNO has a huge responsibility of overseeing “for inpatient and outpatient nursing across the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system, overseeing the nursing
Cambridge Behavioral Hospital is structured using a team-based type of structure to create an environment of ownership among the stakeholders. This structure supports the hospital’s plan because it relies strongly on collaboration, shared goals, common assessments, and other aspects of cooperation to achieve its various plans and missions. It is also a structured system of tasks, workflows, reporting relationships, and communication channels that link the diverse parts of the organization.
Nonprofit hospitals have become a common characteristic of the hospital sector because they can be found across the country because of their presence in almost every corner, they never decline to provide treatment, and offer several community-based health programs. On the contrary, the for-profit health facilities are regarded as the corporate model of health care services as they seek to make profit first. They enjoy huge capital that enables them to develop state-of-the-art facilities and purchase the latest clinical technologies.

Founded in 1942, the Ad Council is non-profit organization that delivers and benefits the lives of society every day. This organization works with tons of companies to promote powerful messages that would have an extreme impact across the country. The Ad Council continues to be the dominant producer in the United States for public service announcements changing the lives of many.
"The United States (US) has the unique record of having the largest sector of Non-Profit Organizations (NPO) in the world, comprising of over one million NPOs" (Yallapragada, Roe, & Toma 2010).The purpose of this paper is to gather, analyze, and formulate data in order to understand, evaluate, and make a conscious decision. Today, as it stands the world is only growing more and more technologically involved in every aspect of everyday life. Children as young two or three years of age have the capability to open and close, manipulate, and surf the web through any given technological median (Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, and Smartphones). Given that fact, it would only be fitting that K-12 education take a turn towards the technological emersion. It is in this area where the unsaid organization 's true brilliance comes to shine.
The NCAA is a non-profit organization that organizes and executes college sports, which includes football, basketball, etc. Key word from the previous sentence would be “non-profit organization”. What kind of “non-profit organization” makes as much money as they do? The NCAA players bring in great revenue with their outstanding efforts in bringing their team up to the top, because that is what the fans like to watch. Now does it seem fair that the NCAA does not give the players back any money at all to the players that actually bring the money in? In simple terms the NCAA makes large amounts of profits and needs to start distributing some of the money to the players (History of College Basketball, 2013). According to another article, the
Grand Junction, Colorado is a town in Western Colorado that has taken steps to excel in the health care field by providing cost effective and efficient care to their community. In lecture this week, we have learned that the key system concepts are: shared vision, shared reality, people, parts, interrelationships, leverage, adaptability and iterative learning.1 The article: Grand Junction, Colorado: A Health Community That Works, is an example of a patient-centered medical home that currently exists in the United States, and should be looked at as a possible solution to our current health care overspending crisis. I believe that the health care provided in Grand Junction, Colorado has excelled in all these concepts and will discuss their
A not-for-profit organization responsible for the provision of leisure services would be Boys & Girls Club. This is an organization that truly holds up the values of being a not-for-profit organization. Their mission is "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens" (Boys & Girls Clubs of America, 2013). With a mission such as this it is obvious that this is an organization that is about the youth and enabling them to grow as individuals.
Though most Americans today identify themselves as middle class, American society and its culture are considerably more fragmented. Americans derive a great deal of their identity through their work and professional affiliation, especially among individuals higher on the economic ladder. Recently professional identification has led to many clerical and low-level employees giving their occupations new, more respectable titles, such as "Sanitation service engineer" instead of "Janitor.” Many Americans belong to non-profit organizations and religious establishments and may volunteer their services to such organizations. The Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus or even the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are examples of such non-profit
For two years, I have volunteered at a unique non-profit organization aimed at providing at-risk inner city youth with literacy skills and mentorship. As a mentor at The Writers’ Exchange, I provide individualized learning and structure to several very challenged and impoverished kids. The focus is on homework, literacy projects and field trips designed to incite creativity, communication skills, self-esteem and accomplishment. The facility is located in the poverty-stricken Downtown Vancouver Eastside, cited as the poorest school catchment in Canada, according to Statistics Canada. It is funded by donations and volunteers. Nearly all of the Writers’ Exchange children are from destitute, broken and often abusive homes, where health and socio-economic
This memo discusses the findings of federal and non-profit organizations that support public policy research in transportation, forestry, and agriculture. While many organizations provided funds for transportation, forest, and agricultural needs; many did not offer funding opportunities for organizations to conduct public policy related research. Despite the difficulties, thirty-four non-profit foundations and two federal websites were identified as providing funding opportunities for public policy research in transportation, forestry, and/or agriculture. Of the thirty-foundations, fifteen are discussed below; including background information about the foundation, organizational goals, and examples of programs each foundation funds.
A-1. Mission, vision and qualities are key components of a non-organization’s vital arranging process, and will control the advancement and conveyance of project administrations and exercises. They must be endorsed by the board of directors and ought to be conveyed to staff, volunteers, individuals and different partners.
As a non-profit organization, our company has been profoundly doing well in helping raise money for families. Being with an organization which is committed to providing assistance to families in impoverished towns is very generous. Although, there is a concern I would like to address regarding using certain data we are using in our annual reports. The company uses pie charts to display data and prefers one type of pie chart over the other. I feel that we should use the pie chart which demonstrates the percentages.
In today’s world there are hundreds of thousands of non-profit organizations (NPOs) established at the local, regional, national and international level, and their influence is increasing. Non-profit organizations even considered the third sector of the economy (the first two is the public and private, or commercial). It is believed that they have a special role in development of civil society. In those countries, which have largely shaped the system of legislative regulation of the sector (USA, UK, Australia, etc); the state spends huge sums on research programs in the field of standardization of the NPO.
Public organizations are different from private organizations in the sense of what functions they provide to the public and the variety of clients in which they service. In a public organization they provide services to the people living within its jurisdiction. While, in a private organization you may see some of the same types of businesses but the difference may be in regards to who is served. In a private organization one may have the ability to select clientele and even the ability to only service individuals who are able to afford what they offer.
