Some of Anheuser-Busch’s goals and values are to put quality in everything they do, to continually exceed customer expectations, and to enjoy trust respect and integrity in all of their relationships. These goals have helped Anheuser-Busch achieve great relational capital.
The Boston Beer Company is the country’s largest producer of craft beer, with their flagship brand being Samuel Adams. An American Craft Brewer is defined as small, independent, and traditional. To be considered these terms, the brewery must adhere to the following guidelines: Annual production of 6 million barrels of beer or less. Less than 25% of the craft brewery is owned or controlled (or equivalent economic interest) by an alcoholic beverage industry member who is not themselves a craft brewer. And a brewer who has either an all malt flagship (the beer which represents the greatest volume among that brewers brands) or has at least 50% of its volume in either all malt beers or in beers which use
The Boston Beer Company, the brewer of Samuel Adams beers is a leader of craft beer breweries in the United States. At the Boston Beer Company, the brew-masters still use old fashion four-vessels brewing process and insist on using all high-quality ingredients. In fact, the Boston Beer Company has won more awards than any other craft beer breweries in the world. Behind all the great tasting beers, its founder Jim Koch has also created his company to be one of the best companies to work for in Boston as cited by Boston Magazine. Koch’s hard work and dedication have also earned him an Entrepreneur of the Year award by Inc. magazine.
There is a booming craft beer population which competes directly with Anheuser Busch InBev. This has had some effect on their business and could be viewed as a potential problem for future growth for their company. There was a commercial that Budweiser put out meaning to belittle craft brewers that became famous in the craft brewing circle. Here in Columbus, people did not take that well, but may have had different effects in other places. It could be better to co-exist with small craft brewers and let their product speak for itself…rather than attempting to insult people whom like craft beer over mass produced

Its roots can be traced all the way back to 1852 from the Bavarian Brewery in St. Louis MO when Adolphus Busch traveled from Germany to join his father-in-law. In 1876 Budweiser was founded and rooted its brand in values, ethics, and quality. These core staples of the company evolved all the way to 1982 when Bud Light was introduced. Today Bud Light is the best selling beer in the U.S. and the #1 beer sold by volume in the world. Let’s take a look into the marketing mix that makes this product so successful.

According to the case, the beer market was dominated by four largest brewing companies: Anheuser-Busch, Miller Brewing, Adolph Coors, and Stroh. These four companies collectively ."..commanded 89.8% of the market share." (Madcap 21) The best selling brands they produced like ."..Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors were generally priced between $4-5 per six-pack" (Madcap 22) and, based on this fact, belonged to premium-priced beers. Therefore, for the MCB to move towards the mainstream drinkers, it has to reduce prices, which will cause several negative outcomes.
There are many companies that already have successful business models in place, making it imperative that as KRB start a new brewery we don’t try to merely imitate their breweries, but instead find a balance that allows us to differentiate ourselves. KBR ability to provide the consumers with the unique opportunity to come support their entire local community by enjoying our product. There will always be an increasing number of other breweries in the area on top of the high number already existing, but none of them are taking advantage of the opportunity to embrace the area and immerse their business into the local economy like KRB will.
Anheuser-Busch is a company that concerns itself with the manufacture, marketing as well as distribution of alcoholic beverages. Anheuser-Busch according to the company website, "is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev" (Anheuser-Busch 2011). I chose Anheuser-Busch for this discussion based on its relative size and market share. Currently, the entity is considered one of United State's largest brewing companies. Hence it is likely that given its relative size and the huge chunk of the market it controls, Anheuser-Busch would have to contend with quite a number of economic issues. Indeed, the continued success of Anheuser-Busch in the highly competitive alcoholic beverages marketplace largely depends on how it handles these issues.
The Boston Beer Company, Inc. produces and sells low alcohol beverages primarily in the domestic market, and in certain selected international markets under the trade mark names "The Boston Beer Company," "Twisted Tea Brewing Company" and "HardCore Cider Company." Americans love their beer and alcoholic beverages. Alcohol tax was even a catalyst in creating this country by encouraging early Americans to fight for independence. Beer has been a common thread in our society for the past 200 years that brings people together to socialize. As our country modernized in the late 1800’s, breweries were constructed in every part of the United States. And of those breweries, three survived prohibition and raced to take their claim on the country’s market share. Our country was carved up by three large beer companies; Miller was popular in the North, Budweiser was popular in the South, and Coors was the choice in the Midwest and West.
Current overall strategy. Over the years the Boston Beer Company focused on producing it products as they have in the past by using a time honored traditions of four-vessel brewing process. They use nothing but the best ingredient that they can buy. Brewing the best quality beer remains their focus. They create and offer a variety of traditional and innovative beers and ciders through many product lines. Samuel Adams offers over 30 distinctive styles of beers. Boston Beer Company’s products are considered to be in the Better Beer category. Being in the Better Beer category means it is standard for the products to be more pricy, better quality, and have a better image and taste than other domestic beers. Samuel Adams is considered to be one of the largest brands in the Better Beer category. At the time in 1984 there was nothing like it in the market that had as much flavor, quality ingredients, and a unique brewing process. The company quickly grew to be a national brand and aimed to compete against Budweiser, Coors, and Miller by marketing to most bars, restaurants, retail stores and professional sports stadiums across the country. Fast forward about 20 years and a new market was emerging, the craft beer market. The craft beer market would now bring more competition to the market by offering consumers different styles of beer ranging from lagers to pale ales, IPA’s, stouts, and porters. Boston Beer was in a great position to be able to compete in this new market by having the brand recognition, production facilities in place, and distribution channels in force. Since the craft beer movement created a demand for new flavors and styles of beer, Boston Beer quickly went to work creating different beers to meet the demand at their production breweries. In 2014, Boston Beer Company commercially produced over 60 different styles of beer to make sure they had enough styles to offer all consumers while maintaining strong brand recognition by using the Samuel Adams name on all of its beers.
