Most projects are strapped for time and resources leading to insufficient time to use sophisticated estimation techniques or even to hold lengthy group sessions for estimation. Despite that, the Enterprise Insights (EI) team at Southwest Airlines is the conduit to the Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) as well as the team that provides the Business Intelligence (BI) function for the company. The EDW department transforms raw data into meaningful and useful information for business customers. The department needed to develop a way to provide reliable high level estimates. The Estimation Utility for EI is meant to be used primarily to estimate project efforts and to provide a common mechanism to communicate those estimates to planning teams that request these high level estimates. The output of this tool is only meant to provide a high level estimate and to be used as a starting point for discussions with the Planners, Delivery Teams, Managers, and Architects. Also, instead of setting up multiple checklists for each new project or major initiative, it is desirable to provide a way to make estimates more reliable and repeatable by having a standard estimation utility that works with all types of EDW and BI projects. Also, it is important that the results of the utility be used as a way to facilitate group discussions and to improve expert estimation. Additionally, the utility packages up estimates with scope items, assumption, known constraints, and potential risks.

project data from work breakdown structures and schedules" and comparing it to "topdown project goals." After this, the teams are to estimate investment risks
1. What is the estimated project completion date? (Assume there are no holidays and ignore the sunk cost of the planning team’s effort)
It’s been said many times; the numbers tell the truth. The question has also been asked, “how can you manage what you can’t measure”? Today, many project managers and organizational leaders realize the importance of tracking project performance and managing multiple teams. The project management institute has made project performance tracking simple, using a series of formulas as warning metrics. This writing assignment review and apply a few of these important performance metrics as we encounter challenges with the Pizza Delivered Quickly (PDQ) application.
(TCO B) You are the project manager for three projects. You are about to estimate costs for these three projects. Given the below information on each project, recommend an appropriate estimation method and justify your answer for each.

budget. As the project evolves, additional information is discovered and further estimates are produced. This is an extremely important process and we cannot emphasize enough the need for this re‐estimation or re‐budgeting process at each phase of the project. In any case, for the purpose of this article, we will call the revised budget the "actual budget." Another standard activity is to provide management with an expected cash flow. From a financial perspective this is an important activity, but it also can be used as your cost expectation.
I will use project scope, work breakdown structure, and AON to evaluate deliverables, set expectations, and estimate the completion date. From the case, we also learned that there are few deliverables new to the company; thus, I will use expert, Delphi, and wide-band Delphi to estimate the project task
Our estimates are carefully prepared and based upon the information you have provided us. These estimates are maximum quotes based upon DUCE’s information outlined in our proposal. However, creative or developmental projects often lead to altered objectives. If new information or instructions are received during the course of a project that will require more time or expenses than we have budgeted, we will inform you immediately and prepare a revised estimate in writing. At that time, we will require a signed approval from you in order to continue the project.
To formulate a strategy that will help Southwest Airlines maintain its competitive edge in the US airline industry.
The safest way to travel in the United States is through U.S. commercial airplanes. There are only .06 deaths per billion miles, which is tremendously better than cars and motorcycles who’s are 5.67 and 217 per billion miles (CNN 2015). Southwest Airlines is one of the major airlines in the US and the one of the world 's largest low-cost carrier. The airline was created by Herb Kelleher in 1967. Their headquarters are in Dallas, Texas. By using the PESTEL analysis, Value Chain Analysis, and the Return Of Sales (ROS), I will analyze Southwest. It will compare them to their competitors such as Jet Blue, Delta, and American Airlines.
US Airways completed a merger in December 2013 . This merger provided much needed cash infusion into American Airlines, enabling it to emergency from
Monitoring and control activities are essential components to effective project management (Chrissis, Konrad, & Shrum, 2011; PMI, 2013). The main purpose of monitoring and control activities are to having an understanding of project progress/performance against the agreed upon plan, identify potential risks, provide accurate forecasts, and to ensure corrective actions are taken when necessary (Chrissis et al., 2011; PMI, 2013). Successful cost and schedule control involves much more than merely monitoring project progress and costs, it involves thorough analysis of the data (Kerzner, 2013, p. 738). One of the most effective tools for performance measurement, monitoring, and control is earned value management (EVM); a powerful technique which employs quantitative data to objectively monitor and control project progress (De Marco & Narbaev, 2013).
