Ted Cruz and His Position on Key Issues
History
T ed Cruz has been a US senator for Texas since 2012. He taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas law school from 2004-2009. He served as the Texas Solicitor General (state lawyer before US Supreme Court) from 2003-2008. He worked five years as partner in a large law firm from 2008 to 2003. He held some prominent positions from 1999-2003 for the Federal Trade Commission, the United States Department of Justice, and the 2000 George W. Bush presidential campaign. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1995 (Senate).

Cruz is well acquainted with the law, and is highly capable of defending causes he is committed to... He calls himself a defender of the constitution,

Cruz is pro-energy when it comes to oil. He wants to approve any pipelines in order to use and exploit any unused American energy reserves. But, when it comes to renewable energy he opposes any subsidies for the reason that he believes they don’t need help competing (PBS).
In national defense, Cruz has a strong opinion that the military needs to be built back up to the level it has been in the past (Ted). One issue he addresses is the use of unmanned drones, in which he is a little wary of. There are too many ways that a robot could make a mistake, civilian lives matter. Nevertheless, Cruz is for lethal action especially when it is in response to violence from foreign nationals. When it comes to a controversial issue of women in the military, he tactfully states the he’d rather keep women out of military combat positions, for it just doesn’t make sense (ProCon).
He feels like immigration needs heavy reform and restriction. One issue he wants to correct, is undoing the police limits the Obama administration created to detain illegal immigrants (ProCon). He also proposes the all too familiar ‘wall’. Like most extreme conservatives, he proposes extending and creating a strong enough wall to keep out illegal immigrants from Mexico.
Cruz’s view on the economy this: something different. Maybe that is all he needs to say for people to be attracted to him as a candidate. He has created a simple tax plan which states that every person would have to pay a 10% flat
His goals of holding office is he wants to embrace a big positive job growth and opportunity agenda, repeal Obama care, secure the border, stop the president's unconstitutional amnesty, hold government accountable, rein in judicial activism, ted wants to stop culture of corruption, pass fundamental tax reform making our tax code simpler, fatter, fairer, audit federal reserve, repeal common care and deal seriously with the threats off isls and nuclear Iran.
The thing is an aide of his says that "the email address in question is press@cruz.senate.gov," and that this address is "a publicly and widely available forwarding address that is often entered into web contact forms by people with no connection to our office." There is no proof that Ted was using the site, where Josh Duggar freely admits to using it and even went to sex rehab for six months after it was
On the issues, Ted Cruz holds many unique positions, often stirring controversy amongst Democrats and fellow Republicans alike. Ted Cruz identifies strongly with the Tea Party Movement, leaning to the far right on many social, domestic and international issues. He particularly emphasizes his bold stances on issues like fighting ISIS, reducing taxes, and lifting regulations on business. However, one area that Cruz is especially passionate about is the many social issues that are debated by American citizens. On gay marriage, Cruz has maintained that he as a believer in traditional marriage between a man and a woman. He sponsored and passed a bill in the United States Senate to leave the decision of marriage to individual state legislatures.
Ted Cruz has strong views on abortion. Americans tend to be more ambivalent. House of Representatives on Friday passed two abortion-related bills (Sept 2015) — one aimed at cutting federal funds to Planned Parenthood, the other at punishing doctors who fail to provide medical care to infants that survive abortion attempts.(Danielle Kurtzzleben)
Well, "The long-running “birther” controversy–a rather bizarre conspiracy theory which holds that President Obama was not born in the United States–refuses to go away, kept alive by business celebrity Donald Trump and other assorted critics," (UCF Today, David Houghton). Every four years, when the current president's term ends, new candidates to lead our nation arise. All of them are seemingly perfect, so how do you take down the competition? You make rumors about them. Ted Cruz is the most recent of these attacks, but all points of evidence show that he is innocent. The online news outlet "The Atlantic", says that Ted Cruz's mother was a citizen of the United States, therefore he was granted United States citizenship and did not go through naturalization. With these ideals intact, we won't lose very valid candidates to in our elections to misinterpreted laws in our
Ted Cruz game plan is to win over young voters, and part of that strategy, he said, is to use his sense of humor. This game plan is certainly feasible as 2 out of the last 3 president have been in the top 5 youngest presidents throughout our entire presidential history. Old and reliable, may not be the same mindset as voters had decades ago. The young middle age group is the working class, and certainly has the most to win or lose if they do not get out and vote.
As a fifth generation Texan, Governor Rick Perry has taken an extraordinary Texas journey, from a tenant farm in the rolling West Texas plains to the governor’s office of our nation’s second largest state.Texas’ 47th governor, and the first Texas A&M graduate to occupy the Governor’s Mansion, Rick Perry has led a life of public service, starting in the United States Air Force and continuing over two decades in elected office.Governor Perry’s administration has focused on creating a Texas of unlimited
James Richard (Rick) Perry was the forty- seventh governor of Texas. He served from 2000-2015. Perry grew up as a farmer, so he knows what it is like to work hard for what you have. Perry also served in the United States Air force from 1972-1977. While in the air force, he flew a C-130 tactical airlift plane over Europe and the Middle- East. Perry is also a lifetime member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and of the American Legion Post. Before being elected as Lt. Governor, Perry served two terms as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture and three terms in the Texas House of Representatives.
Ted Cruz’s approach to the situation is cut the government spendings and lower the national debt. The debt ceiling is rapidly approaching; Ted has argued over not to raise the limit, but use this time to start large cuts in government spending. Ted Cruz is very much so against any government spending. Ted would even go on to say that “It’s a sad statement that the easiest way to get bipartisan agreement in Washington is to increase spending, debt, and taxes” (Patten, 2013). Cruz also oppose any measure to cut military pensions by just 1 percent. This would only cut around 23 billion dollars from the national debt, but it is a start, which Ted Cruz opposes. When confronted by this, he would describe himself as “profoundly optimistic” in weather American can get back on track (Patten, 2013).
Senator Cornyn has a long history in politics and legislation. He served as a district judge, a justice on the Texas Supreme Court, and Attorney General of Texas, all before being elected to the Texas State Senate in 2002. Cornyn has worked to improve international relationships, tax reform, and small business relationships. He has been recognized and awarded for his work in all three subjects. Senator Cornyn is actively serving on the Senate’s Finance and Judiciary Committees, and is also the Majority Whip. Senator Ted Cruz is a first time senator who was elected in 2012. Cruz is currently serving on five senate committees: Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Armed Services; Judiciary; Joint Economic; and Rules and Administration. Before becoming a Senator, Cruz was the youngest, longest serving, and first Hispanic Solicitor General in the state of Texas. Now, Senator Ted Cruz is running as a republican candidate for President in the elections of
I also found it interesting that he is a licensed pilot. Though he isn’t a Texas native, he has been very active around the community. However, his voting record on many issues in Texas are problematic. It is disturbing that he supported bills like HB 15. This bill requires women to view sonograms before getting an abortion SB 14 is another bill that is alarming to many Texans. The base of this bill would require ID verification when voting. Bills like these and several others restrict Texans ability to participate in the voting process, and the “Sonogram Bill” is just another useless and harmful hurdle that women must go through when making the difficult decision to have an abortion. My personal values to no align with those of Representative Frullo, therefore I would not vote to re-elect Rep. Frullo. Though he has done good in regards to combating abuse of children and strengthening law enforcement, his stance on social issues is a big red flag for
Senator John Cornyn has been in public office for 28 years. Cornyn is described as a “powerful voice for conservative values in Washington” (Biography:John Cornyn , n.d.). Cornyn’s liberal and conservative voting scores seem to prove this statement to be
Rick Perry was elected governor of Texas in late 2000. He was born on March 4, 1950, in the small town of Paint Creek, Texas. The reason why I chose him for my essay because he is a good man, a man of integrity. Rick Perry is a wonderful man and he has been a great Texas Governor. What has Rick Perry done for Texas? The state’s economic growing up fast during his long tenure as governor of Texas. During his tenure, he had passed several new laws that help reducing crime rates and saving millions of dollars for Texas. Texas has done better than what most of the other states trying to do. Over the past he has created many jobs for people in Texas, while the other states have all lost jobs. There are now about 2 million or more new employees in
Ted Cruz started his political career off strong when he attended Princeton University and graduate with honors, later he attended Harvard Law school and graduated with high honors. He continues his career by serving as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court, to which he became the first Hispanic ever to clerk for the Chief Justice of the United States. Cruz then spent 5 years as a partner at one of the nation’s largest law firms, where he led the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national Appellate Litigation practice. While serving as Solicitor General Cruz helped Texas achieved an unprecedented series of landmark national victories. Which included U.S. sovereignty against the UN and the World Court in
Victor Cruz went through a situation that most college students go through their freshman year. Everybody party, drink, or do things they would not do around their parents. With them doing that, they will skip class and not do their work which lead them to consequences. Some people take their first year of college as a joke and that is exactly what Victor Cruz did. He could not keep his grades up and he had people trying to help with his classes but he just did not notice it. He had
