As Hitler climbed the political ranks of the new German government, so did his ideology that people of Jewish (non-German) descent were inferior. Thus, he concluded that they were a subhuman species that needed to be eradicated in order for the “Aryan Race” to prosper. The Aryan Race is synonymous with blonde hair, blue eyes, and most importantly, white skin. One could draw a parallel between this rise in German white supremacy to that of the common idea in the United States that races that were not white, were also inferior. One of Hitler’s main goals was to create a “stronger”, more “homogenous”, Germany. This meant only those with superior qualities, such as - and limited to - those in the Aryan Race, would be allowed to coexist within the
He believed that “Aryans” were the purified race. He pronounced that his race must remain pure in order to one day take over the world. For Hitler, the ideal "Aryan" was blond, blue-eyed, and tall. Although Hitler was not even close to looking like an Aryan, he showed the love he had for them. His mind-set was very racist and discriminatory. He had the idea of a “master race” and he discriminated anyone that wasn’t a part of it. He believed that the Germanic people were the only purified race and everyone else was filthy. The Nazis began to put their ideology into practice with the support of German scientists who believed that the human race could be improved by limiting the reproduction of people considered "inferior." The only way Hitler could carry on his “master race” was by getting rid of every non-aryan. He went on a hunting spree for every Jew, Gypsy, homo-sexual, etc. He thought they were not pure and didn’t belong on earth, and this expresses the hatred and how discriminatory he was towards anyone that wasn’t German. By doing this, the Nazis grew in power and had the German society following them, which shows the control and power of Hitler’s words and actions. When Hitler and the Nazis came to power, these beliefs became the government ideology and were spread in publicly displayed posters, on the radio, in movies, in classrooms, and in newspapers. Hitler traveled in planes from city to city, spreading the word of the Aryan-race. He spoke to radio stations, educated children in school, posted pictures and many posters, but he mostly gave brainwashing speeches that tricked most of the German Society to follow him. He used blind obedience to grow his idea. Although most Germans followed out of fear, others seemed to resist and go against
“Every racial crossing leads inevitably sooner or later to the decline of the hybrid product as long as the higher element of this crossing is itself still existent in any kind of racial unity. The danger for the hybrid product is eliminated only at the moment when the last higher racial element is bastardized.” (Manheim). This quote is important because before concentration camps were created, this quote shows in the future about how Hitler wanted to exterminate the “un-pure” race. Through Hitler’s eyes the basis of social judgment was a three-part categorization of human beings. Aryans were at the top and they were really the only ones, in his mind, that were able to create civilizations. They were classified as culture creating. The next category was culture bearing which were people like the Latinas and Asians that could only maintain culture. The culture destroying people, Hitler believed were the Non- Aryans, which included Jews, Gays, Gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses, Blacks, and even the Handicapped. He believed that they could only destroy civilizations and that Germany had been infected with non-Aryans. He felt like they were sub-human and that they could only threaten his perfect race. So to exterminate this imperfect race he put them in concentration camps, exiled them on the street, or forced them to work on a slave farms. Most of them ended up in concentration camps. Above the gates of all concentration
But why racism? It is generally believed by sociologists that one cannot be a racist unless he is distinguishing between different biological traits between people, which somehow make one biological 'race' superior to another. And Hitler knew how bitter the Germans were about the loss of the First World War, so he needed a reason to give them as to why they lost. So he turned to racism and began distinguishing the Aryans from other races in Germany such as the Jews and homosexuals. By blaming the mixing of these inferior races into Aryan blood he gave the people a reason to believe they were better than someone else, and gave them a purpose, people to blame for Germanys devastated economy.
One of Hitler’s many ambitions for Germany was to achieve total Aryan supremacy. Hitler wanted to make all Germans perfect physical specimens. All of them tall and strong with blue eyes and blond hair though he himself was short, with brown eyes and hair. Hitler claimed that the Germans were the purest Aryans and therefore superior to all other peoples. Hitler made sure that all Germans knew this, he told the German people what they wanted to hear, that they were in fact the master race and that they were superior to any other persons. Although many were opposed to Hitler’s idea of Aryan supremacy the German people supported him enthusiastically regardless.
Hitler’s vision was that the Aryan race was superior to other races. These races included the inhabitants of northwestern Europe. Hitler considered all of the Germans to be Aryan. Not just the ethnic Germans, but Belgians, Scandinavians,
From 1933 to 1945, Germanyś government was led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. During this time, they carried out a method to onslaught all European Jews. Because the Germans placed themselves as the superior people, they decided that Jews would be punished only because of their religion/race. In Hitlerś eyes, the only way for survival was to be a part of the ¨master race¨. The ¨master race¨ was to always stay ¨pure¨ in hope that one day, they would take over the world.
Hitler had many reasons on why the Jews should be ‘annihilated’, from them being the cause of Germany’s poor finances to them ruining the racial ‘purity’ of Germany, which apparently had no place for any Jews. When Hitler was convicted into prison in 1923, he wrote a book called Mein Kampf (Meaning My Struggle). In this book he boldly states, “As a result of this, we shouldn’t be surprised if our people someday view the personification of the Devil, as the symbol of all evil, as the Jew himself” (Ford 277). In this bold statement, Hitler says how ‘our
At the foundation of Nazi ideology is a strict adherence to the racial purification of the ‘Aryan race.’ Nazi propagandists and racial fanatics created ways to limit the rights of people who were deemed racially inferior; the majority of such policies focused on solving the ‘Jewish Problem.’ In an effort to increase pressures on the Jewish population of Europe, the Nazi regime imposed laws and edicts to remove any legal rights of Jewish citizens. In order to purify the German race, the Nazi regime went a step further and implemented legislation to separate the Jewish and Aryan populations; a separation of these groups would provide a quicker way to racial purification. In the mid-1930s, laws, like the Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour, were enacted to inhibit marriage and sexual relations between people of Jewish and Aryan descent. This particular law focuses on the purification of German blood, the Jewish-German marriage policy and the display of Reich symbols. Looking at its historical context, however, we see that this law is only a small piece of the Nazi policies focused on the persecution of Jews.
Adolf Hitler actually did not have blue eyes or blond hair, nor was Hitler very tall at all. But since he was their almighty der furher they didn’t question if he needed to be just like the aryans he created in fact he wrote in one of his daily journals, “ If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” which is probably why he was able to get away with not meeting the aryan race qualification standards. Hitler painted a picture of himself to all of germany, a picture showing that he was the almighty cleansing benevolent der Furher. And that He could be the only one to make Germany the Greatest even if his Aryan qualifications did not suit
Hitler showed absurd cruelty to the Jews. Maier says, “Hitler initiated actions against the Jews. They were turned into a race of "untouchables" within their own state, unable to pursue certain careers and a public life. The Nuremberg Laws of 1935 defined as Jewish anyone with one Jewish grandparent. That a terrible fate would be their lot was clear in Hitler's remarks that war in Europe would lead to the "extinction of the Jewish race in Europe” (Adolf Hitler, Wendy Maier). Hitler showcased when he first came to power and tried to wipe out the jews. More about Hitler’s savagery. To include to Hitler’s savagery is his aggressive personality. He used aggressive power he had from the Nazis and came after his opponents. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia says,“political opponents such as von Schleicher and Gregor Strasser were murdered or incarcerated, and some Nazis, among them Ernst Roehm, were themselves purged. Jews, Socialists, Communists, and others were hounded, arrested, or assassinated”(Adolf Hitler, The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia). Hitler used the aggressiveness of the Nazis to eliminate all threats and enemies. To be included to Hitler’s savagery and aggressiveness is his love for power. Hitler loved having power so much that he tried anything to achieve more and more of power. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia said,“he ran in the presidential elections of
In the case of Germany its political State’s purpose was to “preserve and improve the race [for] progress in human civilization.”(Mein Kampf 1). This concept of race in which Hitler speaks appears to be influenced by the work of Arthur de Gobineau who in his book The Inequality of the Human Races(1853-1855) discussed the superiority of the white in the Aryan race, “negroid and yellow” races. He writes, “yellow races are thus clearly superior to the black”(205) because “he commits none of the strange excesses so common among the negroes” such as “kill[ing] for the sake of killing.(206) Although these definitions and interpretations of race and Germans as the race that “transformed western mind in the fifth century” as Aryan are not correct in our time, they had real life consequences when Hitler declared that the folk state “right and obligation are: that purity of the racial blood should be guarded, so that the best types of human beings maybe preserved…[for] a more noble development of humility itself”(Mein
Hitler and his Nazis were a race of “Aryan people” who believed their people were far more superior to any other race in the world. In their minds they believed they were more worthy of respect than even God himself. Hitler regarded the German’s as the Aryan “master race” (Nazi Racism) Hitler wanted a “pure race” so they could one day eventually conquer the world by themselves. Hitler’s perfect Aryan race was characterized by blonde haired, blue eyed and tall Aryans.
Hitler represented the Nazi party they wanted to kill off has many Jews as he could, they believed if they did this Germany would recovery from world war 1, also, they believed in a national community formed by so called racially pure people the Nazi party believed there should only be pure Germans. Blonde hair and blue-eyed Germans, they felt if you weren’t a pure German you weren’t a person.
Hitler and the Nazis targeted other groups of people and not just Jews. These groups included Gypsies, Slavic people, Communists, Socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Homosexuals. “Hitler spread his beliefs in racial “purity” and in the superiority of the “German race” what he called “Aryan master race”. He pronounced that his race must remain pure in order to one day take over the world. For Hitler, the ideal “Aryan” was blonde, blue-eyed, and tall”(United States Holocaust Memorial Museum).
The Nazi Germany theoretically believed that those, whom were considered as Aryan, were ultimately the superior race. In result of this, the Nazi army feared the reproduction of other races and set out to ethnically cleanse Germany and the rest of Europe as well (Museum, Racism: An Overview, 2016). While racism played a drastic role in the Holocaust, ethnic supremacy along with religion also played as a factor in the genocide.
