The culture and climate of a well-disciplined unit will show apparent by strong core values and attributes displayed by its unit members. It all starts with the recruiter and potential applicant. Recruiting and processing qualified applicants with good moral values and strong character traits is where it starts. In addition, Basic Combat Training (BCT) needs to build upon character development, focus on strong leadership traits and instill the core values of the Army. The Army needs “standard bearers” and not Soldiers and Leaders, who choose the easy wrong over the hard right. Providing proper training and honest feedback will create competence in our military ethnics. We need Soldiers and Leaders of strong character that will teach, …show more content…
We can apply it almost every circumstance we have experienced in life, especially being a leader. The Army must continue to develop methods that will help prevent unethical decisions and behavior that degrade the culture and climate of our units.

Because of the large number of soldiers who are dying, new recruits are sent to join the company.
Issue 3: Service members feel discriminated against due to past, present or future military service
The military draft is now a thing of the past since World War II and the Vietnam War. Today the military draft seems obsolete with the rise in volunteers. Over the past half-century, military drafts have controlled the fates of eligible men on and off the battlefield. Thankfully this is not the case today with qualified men and women signing up and risking their lives for their country. With the United States at war in the Middle East, having plenty of volunteers is essential in the effort to win. In the United States volunteers join the military from diverse backgrounds, with different reasons for joining, but, they all share the idea to serve. With a growing military force, it is essential to examine how each reason inspires the
The Seattle PTA acquired the US Army’s School Recruiting Program (SRP) handbook. According to (Hagopian, 2012) In obtaining the handbook they learned the SRP offers wide-ranging advice to its personnel seeking to enlist high school students. It declares, Recruiters – like infantrymen – must shoot, move and communicate. Another recruiter handbook states it more clearly: The objective of the SRP is to assist recruiters with programs and services so they can effectively penetrate the school market. Advice includes various ways for recruiters to insinuate themselves into the school community to gain access to
Thesis: Although the U.S. military has been a leader in desegregation and in other social matters, during World War Two fear and prejudice keep many highly qualified people from serving. This weakened every branch of the military by limiting it to a less diverse and therefore less flexible fighting force.

Throughout the U.S., employers use job candidates’ prior military service as a criterion in their hiring, promotion, and retention decisions. These employers, however, do not necessarily view military service as a job requirement or a valid predictor of a candidate’s future performance. Instead, they consider a candidate’s past military service in their personnel decisions because of policies that require them to do so. Such policies, which putatively create a “preference” for the hiring of military veterans, have existed in the U.S. public sector for centuries and have helped make federal, state, and local governments the most-common
One of the most common legal ways of avoiding the draft was being a full-time college student. As a result, “[c]ollege enrollment increased sharply among those who could afford a college education” (“Preface”). Only 2 percent of all draftees were college graduates, revealing a severe and unjust bias toward those who could not afford an education. A college deferment was a relatively safe option, as it was difficult to lose. In order to lose a college deferment, one would have had to flunk out of college. However, this threat was extremely reduced or eliminated by “professors who opposed the war [or]
