Thanks for elaborating on this topic. The craving for nicotine has caused an effect on the lives of those who smoke and yet very difficult to let go. From my part of the world, smoking is a taboo for women but I see both men and women smoking in the United State, it was a shock to me. The point is that smoking is bad and has detrimental effects on the body. When the E- cigarette was discovered it became the new thing but now is a concern that it might live a life long addiction for nicotine (Knickman & Kovner 2015) Does this mean the E cigarette has nicotine in them? why is there that fear?. The problem we have is how we help those who smoke change their lifestyle. As explained by Schwartz et al (2010) lifestyle change has proven to produce
After reading chapter sixteen, it informed me about the importance of writing a persuasive paper. For the first statement, “to persuade my audience that e-cigarettes are harmful to human health”, is simply a question of fact. In this statement, the speaker would act as a lecturer or a teacher informing the audience about the harmfulness of e-cigarettes. I would then rewrite this statement as a question of policy. For example, should individuals test for cancer every three months to see if they are at risk for cancer due to using e-cigarettes? The second statement, “to persuade my audience that a national sales tax should be adopted to help reduce the national debt”, would be a question of policy. Reason being is because it uses the word should within the statement. I would then rewrite the statement as “national sales tax should be adopted to help reduce the national debt because the nation owes other countries funds”.
Why are e-cigarettes harmful? E-cigarettes are harmful because they can damage the lung tissue. E-cigarettes also reduce the ability of the lungs to keep out germs and other harmful substances. That’s a bad thing that will going on in your body if you smoke e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes carry nicotine that is very harmful. Most teenagers in U.S in the past year are emerged to try the new e-cigarettes. But studies show that harmful to the developing teenager brain. No teenager, no young person, should be using any tobacco or nicotine-containing products. Unlike true cigarettes, electronic cigarettes do not burn tobacco. The liquid usually contains nicotine that is a highly addictive substance naturally found in tobacco. E-cigarettes were designed
Electronic cigarettes, commonly known as e-cigarettes, deliver nicotine without the tar and smoke of traditional tobacco cigarettes. About one in six current cigarette smokers (15.9%) and nearly one in four recent former cigarette smokers (22.0%) currently used e-cigarettes (2014, Charlotte). E-cigarettes have been on the market for less than 10 years, at this time; products’ ingredients and effects are limited. We will be using C. elegans, which are microscopic nematodes; their genome is 100 million base pairs in length and contains a similar number of genes as humans about 20,500 genes (2016, Murray & Coulson). In this experiment we will attempt to observe the effect of e-cigarette liquid on C. elegans’ metabolism and lifespan. To test
E-cigarettes could possibly be the solution for the smokers trying to quit, says an author from the USA Today. A good thing right? However, teenagers are using these dangerous vapes. They are taking advantage of e-cigarettes with their less noticeable plumes of smoke and their ability to be easily concealed, unlike normal cigarettes. The author also says that these vapes are easily purchased or gotten by teenagers under the age of 18. The author believes that the government should be taking steps in order to prevent vapes from getting into young hands.
Some research may show that e-cigarettes can cause birth defects in frog embryo which means it can happen in people too. E-cigarettes are considered a safer alternative to cigarettes. They deliver a nicotine vapor.
Even though many people may think that e-cigarettes are a healthier alternative than smoking cigarettes they could be wrong. Numerous amount of e-cigarette smokers love their cigarette devices aka “vapes” and so they choose to make them distinctive by modifying them and making them blow huge clouds of smoke, so they can taste a richer flavor from the juices that they pour inside the device. According to Pepper, “e-cigarettes do not rely on combustion or contain cured tobacco, so they produce far fewer harmful constituents than regular cigarettes” (Pepper). Though e-cigarettes may seem to be a great substitute for cigarettes, they are highly addictive and the modifications that people do to these devices aren’t helpful. In addition e-cigarettes
Does E-Cigarettes cause a horrible disease, that they named Popcorn Lung. Coming off of FaceBook.com is it true or not? Is the real question? They are saying the trend is to be found that it might be true because of how your lung comes out to be. Snopes.com said, that what is true is in December 2015 Harvard which is associated with popcorn lung, is present in e-cigarette because they knew that they it was bad for you from the begin because it’s the same things as what is in the cigarettes, and even though e-cigarettes can cause more serious thing to it because at some point you have more smoke going into your body than a normal cigarette does. For that being said on snopes.com they do say what is false is “Harvard study did not prove a link
The question should not be if e-cigarettes are bad or not, but if they are better for you than the alternative. Many people believe that since vaporizers have only been around for a little over ten years, people do not know what the long term effects from them will be. Cigarettes have thousands of chemicals in them, with at least seventy of them being carcinogens, while vaporizers do not create big enough quantities of carcinogens to pose a real threat (McDonald). E-cigarettes do have an impact of people’s health, but there is little evidence suggesting that they are not as bad as some individuals make them seem to be.
The pharmacologists usually specialize in researching living organisms body’s. They’re work is important because they show and investigate how in all the new E-cigarettes have nicotine which produces cancer. Another chemical that found that in the E-cigarettes there is a poisonous ingredient found in antifreeze. Another chemical is carcinogen which is something that causes cancer a disease that spreads throughout the body. The FDA has approved that the E-cigarettes are not safe for the environment because they contain many chemicals that are dangerous for the human body.
Most e-cigarettes contain a battery, a heating device, and a cartridge for holding nicotine and the flavoring chemicals. When the battery-powered device is heated, it vaporizes the liquid to produce aerosol vapors that the user inhales. The ever-growing perception that e-cigarettes are a healthier alternative to conventional cigarette smoking has made the former even popular in the recent past. However, a University of Rochester school of Medicine study has revealed otherwise. The study that was led by Irfan Rahman, Ph.D. professor of Environmental Medicine at the URMC and published in Oncotarget was the first to show that e-cigs affect overall oral health on cellular and molecular levels.
Even though, this was a short interview, but I learned that my respondent did not have many negative thoughts about e-cigarettes and it was seem more of a positive product to use. I also learned that friends are usually the ones who influences others to try new products and activities. Occasionally, it can be a positive or a negative influence. I was aware that my respondent might have not done research on the possible health risks and negative factors of e-cigarettes. Nonetheless, from my respondent’s answers, e-cigarettes do not cause any side effects or harm for a person who uses this product throughout the day or even years. Moreover, these products are convenient, does not require much work, and inexpensive.
With technological innovations happening everyday, many products are being created promoting health. Among these products is what is known as a e-cigarette. With no tobacco, tar, or even smoke, it has to be safe. Or is it? E-cigarettes were first introduced in 2006 as an alternative to smoking tobacco products. These e-cigarettes use vapor as opposed to smoke. The user still can receive their fill of nicotine with an added bonus of a flavor choice. With there first launch they weren 't seen as a breakthrough to many people and quickly was pushed aside. However, with growing technological advancements they have become a trending alternative to the normal cigarette. Many are quick to assume that the lack of actual tobacco results in a less dangerous product. But is it actually what it seems?
I think that it is wonderful that your boyfriend and his parents were able to quit smoking after many years by using the e-cigarettes. I know some people who have been able to quit also after smoking for many years but they either gradually tapered down their cigarette use and then were able to stop or they used the patch or gum. I have seen just how difficult it can be for some smokers to do it. The physical symptoms of nicotine withdrawal such as headache, nausea, and fatigue can make it very uncomfortable for anyone who is trying to quit. I feel that if e-cigarettes, nicotine patches, or nicotine gum can help someone to gradually taper down the amount of nicotine that they consume allowing them to slowly quit without suffering the
All interviews were recorded, the audio recordings were uploaded to a secure, password-protected computer and the recordings were transcribed verbatim by a contracted professional transcription service, resulting in a descriptive analysis conduction. This study provides a good foundation for further investigating how the use of alternative tobacco products and marijuana is being addressed in the healthcare setting. The findings suggest that there is a lack of knowledge about these products and sparse credible resources highlighting the health risks or potential for addiction of these products. Moreover, the potential of these products, particularly e-cigarettes, to aid in harm reduction or cessation of traditional cigarettes should be examined
Another key point is that there are alternative to smoking cigarettes; electronic cigarettes are battery-operated devices which use cartridges filled with nicotine, flavor and chemicals to convert them into a vapor that is inhaled, these chemicals contain cancer causing as well as the same compound used in antifreeze. Hookah and e-cigarettes are not regulated by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration. It is not known how safe they are as opposed to regular cigarettes. In August 2016, new rules mandate that hookah’s and e-cigarettes must be approved by FDA and contain health warnings. In addition to regular cigarettes, people become dependent on tobacco by smoking. Hookahs are water pipes used to smoke tobacco through a tube with a tapered mouthpiece. Many people think they are safer because the smoke is cooled as it passes through the water. Black resinous gunk builds up in the hookah tube, which suggests that this is a safer option. This gunk also enters the user’s mouth and lungs. Experts believe that hookahs are not safer than cigarettes. Germs are also shared as hookahs are passed from user to user. (Vaping Daily)
