“All men are created equal, No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words,” Harvey Milk. A homosexual, as defined by the dictionary, is someone of, relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex. Homosexuality is ethical, and I will provide rational arguments for, and irrational arguments against the topic. A few objections are as follows: It is forbidden in the Bible and frowned upon by God; It is unnatural; Men and women are needed to reproduce; There are no known examples in nature; and the most common argument that concerns homosexuality is whether it is a choice or human biology.
My arguments will be ignoring a major element in factoring the morality of homosexuality,

You’re going to have to be nice to your boss to be successful at the business. Disregarding your parents’ advice, you give time and compassion, later to discover there’s nothing different with African Americans. Again, to make a final decision over the morality of homosexuality, it is essential to eliminate all of one’s prejudices.
A major reason for the fear and objection towards homosexuality is organized religion. Whether we notice it or not, we as humans follow many everyday concepts from the Bible. Examples would be, to not steal, murder, or commit adultery in marriage. The Bible also states that homosexuality is unethical and should be avoided as other sins. These are all great to follow, if you conform to the rules of the Bible. Religious back up should not be used in order to deem something wrong or unethical. It is essential to understand, to deem homosexuality ethical or not, rational decision-making must occur. One must analyze the pros and cons; if the pros outweigh the cons, homosexuality is ethical, and visa versa. One who explicitly follows an organized religion must follow the rules of a higher power (God). Getting rid of this obstacle will leave room for autonomous decisions on homosexuality, and eventually its place in good ethics.
Considering the biological/choice standpoint, one must again not let their beliefs give bias to their opinions. Each and every one of us
Richard Mohr believes that outing closeted homosexuals is morally justified. He argues that sexual orientation is not a private matter and therefore, does not violate a homosexual's right to privacy. He believes that outing will increase the homosexual community by creating positive role models. He argues that remaining in the closet is morally debasing and creates indignity to one's self. Claudia Card on the other hand, argues almost the complete opposite. She takes a utilitarian stance on outing "the big secret." The big secret is referring to one being a homosexual. She believes that outing is justified as long as it does no harm, which she believes is unlikely.
Another reason that homosexuality is wrong is because it simple just is not natural. As the saying goes ''God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve''. God made one man and one woman in the beginning, not two men. In nature there are not two male dogs, cats, or any other animals that have sex. It is always male and female. If God intended for males to sleep together, then He would have made it where men can have babied too, but He did not. God made males able to impregnate females, and females able to carry and deliver babies. Also when God sent the flood, He sent one male and one female of each animal to survive the flood. He did not send two male tigers to survive, but a male tiger and a female tiger. Animals can only survive with the sexual intercourse of male and female. People have started to do research trying to prove that being gay is something that you are born with. Scientist are trying to prove that homosexuality is not a choice for some people but a burden. By doing these studies gays and lesbians are trying to justify their actions, by saying that it is something that they can not help. Scientist are trying to say that it is a chemical in the brain that causes a person to be gay. God did not make us sinful people, but we have chosen to sin. Also in Romans 1:26-27, it
When Aristotle discussed the material premises of enthymemes as being important in rhetoric, he was prescient of the kind of appeals that would be tendered by opponents in the discourse over gay rights issues long after his time. Smith and Windes express the nature of this conflict accurately when they write, “symbols expressing fundamental cultural values are invoked by all sides” (1997: 28). Similarly, Sarah S. Brown describes the participants in a “struggle to stake out symbolic positions of good and to frame their side in terms of morally powerful conceptions of right and wrong” (2000: 458). Fascinatingly, she suggests, “even people with deeply conflicting opinions appeal to the same moral
The most prominent argument against homosexuality by far is that it is not God’s wishing or God condemns homosexuals. From the scriptures we can see why people may take this approach. "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable" (Leviticus 18:22) and "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads" (Leviticus 20:13) are just two common examples of The Holy Book denouncing homosexual behaviour. From this we can clearly see that historic opinion disapproves of gay and lesbians.
By this day in age, you probably all have an idea about what Homosexuality is. But in the event that you don’t, Homosexuality is when a person is sexually, emotionally or romantically attracted to the same sex. So, for an example, a man being sexually involved with another man. In our society today being gay, is okay, but it wasn’t originally. Homosexuality originally began as a sin and was seen as conflicting to the natural law. It was morally unacceptable for a man to love another man and vice versa for women. This was due to religious beliefs, mainly denominations of Christianity. If you were gay not only were judged, ridiculed and called a demon but you were also going straight to hell. This is because of the Old Testament in the Bible;
Another reason against homosexuality is given in the Talmud by Bar Kapparah, who claims that it means to’eh atah ba (“you go astray because of it”). Both Tosefot and the Asheri (medieval commentators) say that a man will leave his wife and family to search for a relationship with another man. This means that homosexuality threatens the Jewish family life which consists of marriage and children. Heterosexuality is regarded as normality for Jews; homosexuality is an obstruction to that normality.
Before 1973, homosexuality with-in our culture, was considered taboo, but things changed when they adopted the civil rights method of protest, “of the 1950s to the 1970s, bringing about change by influencing large amounts of minorities (LGBT Mental Health Syllabus). To be sure, 1973 became an important year for America’s acceptance of homosexuality, as a choice from a previous physiological diagnosis, and the legalization of abortion on the national level. Basically, they revised their medical research over night, with no new research verifying that homosexuality is a trait we are born with. In 1988, Michael Swift wrote and submitted the "Gay Revolutionary", stating a very aggressive take over of our heterosexual community, and was submitted
In the begriming God created Adam and eve Not Adam and Steve; this one line I've heard plenty times; However is such a very true statement think back to the beginning of creation God made Adam and said it wasn't good for the first time in all these days it was not good. Why because He had no mate. He had no one for Adam to protect (the original role of the man). Then he created the woman from the man RIB to be the helpmate to the man. If God really thought homosexuality was okay he would have created another man. He would created man to give birth I mean we our put on this earth to reproduce Can homosexuality really be that big of sin ?why is it such a big deal ? do any other religion outside of Christianity believe the same thing? can you really be deemed to hell for liking the same sex ? that Homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of God based on scripture and is morally wrong not only based
Homosexuality has always been a controversial topic of ethical discussion. The morality of the subject depends completely upon a person’s views. A person is often swayed one way or another and religion often plays a very large role on the subject. There are those who believe in the divine command theory and those who believe in the natural law theory. In order to properly understand either theory it is important to know the meaning behind each.
The question of whether homosexuality is a choice remains a topic in which everyone seems to have an opinion. Whether it is for psychological or religious reasons, some people still think being gay is the worst thing you could be. Newsweek.com states that, “blaming people for being gay is like blaming them for being left-handed”. They have also stated that the APA has now cleared up on the subject of mental health in an LGBT individual, staying that is “not a mental illness or disorder with no identifiable dissimilar psychopathology, as both heterosexual and homosexual behaviors are normal aspects of human sexuality” Stephanie Fairyington, author of “The Gay Option”, has dealt with this as a personal issue firsthand. In her article she explains that one can’t choose to be gay, just like they can’t choose their personality. She even goes as far to say to her mother that, “If there were a straight pill,’…’I’d swallow if faster than you can say the word gay.” (Fairyington, p 50) Stephanie Fairyington also addresses whether it is a choice to act on these thoughts, and if is up to the individual if they go through with them. This paper will also view the legality and moral standpoints of homosexuality from the viewpoints of Joyce John Pierre, author of “A New Normal”.
Jacob was born in 1990 in San Francisco and considers himself very openly gay, attending Pride whenever he could and participating in his local LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and more) center’s events. It is something he thinks about almost every day. Just as most people think of others who pass them on the street, Jacob could bump into a cute guy and think about how much fun they could have together if he said “Hi!” In the back of his mind, he has a label - an identity that relates to these actions. He knows it as being gay. If however, Jacob was born at another time, centuries before, he would not have this label; if Jacob from 200 CE in Greece had ‘gay’ defined to him, would he identify as such?
The fight to legalize gay marriage has won many battles in recent years. It has become available in Canada, England, New Zealand, and here in the United States it is now legal in 13 states (religioustolerence.org). Gay couples have become more prominently accepted in modern society, appearing in popular TV shows such as “Modern Family” and “The New Normal”. Gay marriage is even the inspiration for popular songs such as “Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Even with same sex couples being more commonly accepted, there are still conservative and religious leaders that remain opposed. It is this opposition that has prevented gay marriage from becoming legal in most of the country. Gays and lesbians are Americans just like everyone else,
The world today faces many cultural and ethical issues that some believe are only relevant in today’s day and age. The Bible bluntly states that homosexuality is a sin. However, would it still be considered homosexuality if there were a gender change surgery before going through with the immoral act? There are many scripture verses in the Old Testament that evidence the demoralization of a sex change both then and there and here and now.
Homosexuality has in recent times being the topic of much heated debate. Simple opinion has divided the line between many and conclude those that stand for traditional values and those who take a progressive stance in civil rights. While the nation has become a buzz of opinions and perspectives, many arguments that have been made have been exaggerated and slandered to the extent that they are no more than myths that have been left off of a leash unchecked. Ultimately, there is nothing inherently wrong with homosexuality, and despite even the best arguments made against the principle, little carry any weight.
No one knows exactly how homosexuality entered into human history. I would imagine that the practices associated with the erotic attraction of people to one's own gender have been around since the dawn of humanity. The earliest accounts of homosexual behavior seem to be found in ancient pagan religious practices. At least, the pagans included homosexuality in the worship of various gods. Whether the inclusion in worship was because the practice was already a part of the society-at-large or if the pagan worship introduced the practice is impossible to determine, although some understandings of Paul's writings argue for the latter.
