Being deemed an effective leader goes way beyond the basic concept of being considered good or bad by the people one rules. An effective leader portrays characteristics that many look up to and wish to get. In order one must understand the differences and similarities of war and peace. Most influential leaders all have similar qualities that make them successful. It must be understood that the causes and effects that go into each. Now a day, there is no means of peace in certain parts of the world, but instead, there are ongoing conflicts that lead into war. Leaders should have good relations and have the common goal in between countries in order to evolve and prosper. These people in power must possess qualities such as being passionate and patient. Great leaders with these acquired traits are able to distinguish when to go to war and balance peace that can be learned in the readings like the declaration of independence, teachings of Machiavelli, Jimmy Carter on communication and the short film of Rosie the Riveter. The Deceleration of Independence marks a historic time in US history. It was when the western civilizations of British needs were being neglected by the prince. Creating an uprising through the colonies that shared the common goal of being free. The leaders of the colonies decided it was the best to wait for a perfect moment to rebel against the British force. The great leaders of US history were able to do so because they were passionate enough about their
The first characteristic of a great leader is being loved by their people. By way of example Jane Simmons wrote “ an aggressive military leader, he was feared but also admired by people in other land.” Sulieman scared the people that he needed to scare but he was admired by the people he helped. Also in Amit carters queen Elizabeth I summary it says “she was thought of as a good and wise ruler who was truly thought of as a good ruler
Those who show good leadership share qualities such as strong integrity, consideration of others, and the ability to lead by example. A good leader will know what’s wrong and what’s right. When leading others, they choose the option that is morally acceptable. A good leader has been taught what is right and wrong and doesn’t choose to do what’s wrong when leading others. A good leader thinks of others when making their decisions. They consider what will be best for the group when
Many people would not hear the words “good leader” and “Adolf Hitler” in the same sentence. Nor would anyone usually say that Mahatma Gandhi was an aggressive leader. Both past leaders show many similar leadership qualities, but the way they broadcasted their ideologies diverges severely. Many world leaders possess the qualities of authority, but none can quite be a perfect commander. In fact, there is no such thing as a perfect leader. No commander can perfectly lead a division into battle, and no chief can perfectly manage his tribe. For every strength of a good leader, a flaw exists. There is no impeccable image of a leader.
As many countries developed over time, changes have occurred that benefited the citizens of each nation. However, there is one important element that is needed to establish laws, peace, and harmony in each country. This element is known as leadership. Leaders around the world have contributed to the success and evolution of all of our nations, proving to be a huge responsibility. Residents are dependent amongst leaders, who are in charge of protecting their citizens at no cost. Without the presence of them, chaos and corruption would establish, which could ruin relationships and trade with other nations. In history, great leaders have been praised and admired. The characteristics of three great leaders, who are Suleiman, Nelson Mandela, and Queen Elizabeth I, have exhibited the qualities of being a great leader. These traits include causing admiration and inspiration, demonstrating intelligent knowledge, and guiding residents and themselves to solve conflicts that may cause death.
When you think leader, some think kings like William the Conqueror, others think of Prime Ministers such Winston Churchill, or even the leaders of the civil rights movement Martin Luther King Jr. They were all great men and had their time in the sun as great leaders, and they were some of the greatest leaders of their respective times and generations. There are many characteristics that go into a great leader. Things such as measurable things like education and votes in elections are easy to see and give a good impression. The greatest leader must have some of those measurable in his life time. Along with those easily visible things you need a multitude of other

Why do we hear so much about the bad leaders, but so little about the good ones? That’s because none of our leaders are perfect, but what makes a good leader? A good leader is someone who is honest, decisive under pressure, and can give confidence in times of distress. Many leaders in our world, or in fictional worlds, show that these qualities prove most important.
There are a number of qualities that quantify good leaderships and good leaders. According to Kouzes and Posner in their book The Leadership Challenge, all successful leaders have (5) practices in common. They “Model the Way”, “Inspire a shared vision”, “Challenge the process”, “enable others to act” and “encourage the heart”(15). Never is there a more important time to have exemplary leadership, than in a time of war. Both the American Civil War and World War II showed what was possible through good leadership. From abolishing slavery and preserving the Union, to fighting tyranny and oppression abroad, both events in American history had a profound impact on all those involved. The impact would most certainly be different if not for the leadership of Colonel Lawrence Chamberlain of the Union Army during the Civil War and General George S. Patton during World War II. Both leaders possessed the 5 practices essential for god leadership, yet both leaders to different approaches to accomplish their goals.
An effective leader is one who inspires many to not only accept change but to cause change themselves, furthermore, though leaders can be effective it doesn’t always mean they are responsible with their power.
This event was caused by the breaking off from the British government. This event would never have happened if it hadn’t been for the perceived oppressiveness of the British government, and subsequently the separation of the colonies and Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was drafted as a means of preventing possible anarchy due to lack of structure. Most Americans agreed that an anarchy government wasn’t for them, however they were all in fear of becoming a tyranny, as they felt that was the case with the previous government. So a weak framing was favorable at the time. This development’s the short term effects were the obvious problems in the Articles, such as the no taxation power or trade regulation. The long term effects saw not being able to
Good Leaders play an important role in our society, and it is a quality than needs to be developed thorough an entire life. There are many different leadership styles, as well as there are many good leader examples. A successful leader knows exactly how to effectively manage the group , in order to work towards the realization of a common goal.
I believe a good leader is able to draw distinct clear lines when dealing with the people under her responsibility. I feel a good leader is approachable and yet still manages to maintain an authoritative stance. Often leaders tend to cross the line and become too friendly with the people they lead in a bid to gain popularity. However, from my work experience, when the leader tries to switch hats to being an authoritative figure it backfires. Which ultimately results in confusion amongst the group due to mixed signals and followers losing respect for the leader.
In my reflections as I prepared to write this paper, I came to the realization that leadership is much more complex especially since the paper requires that I focus on a few traits. In an effort to make it simple, I wrote down the traits that came to mind and in process had over 10 important traits but an even bigger challenge was on how to narrow them down to 3 or 4 and this is the place that required a good deal of reflection. Eventually, however, I had to prioritize them since in any case; it is not possible to get a leader that has all the traits. As I thought of the various leaders who have inspired me, I noticed that while they strived to provide the best leadership by focusing on their strong points, they still had their weaknesses. To me this provided a justification for at least identifying key desirable traits and thereafter working to improve them. I did manage to settle on four traits, which for me are indispensible if a leader or a leadership is to become effective.
I believe that to be a good leader doesn’t necessarily define as someone who sets a goal and directs people to achieve it, but as someone who may have to adapt to change based off their surroundings and situations. A leader should be someone who is able to guide with not only direction but also logic, understanding, and an open mind. Oskar Schindler proved with continued leadership that even the most dismal situations may be able to change your values and based off those values change your actions and the direction in which you choose to lead and how you influence.
Not all leaders are famous like Martin Luther King, most leaders are ordinary people; you can walk down the street and run into someone and not know that they are a very powerful leader. I personally know of a good leader that is an ordinary person; my father. Although some people believe that leaders are born and not made, I believe that anyone can become a leader if they have enough courage and are thick skinned. There are many words that people come up with when they are asked to describe what makes a good leader. The most popular characteristics used to describe a good leader would be a good listener, responsible, and decisive. When you think of what makes a good leader you should also ask what kind of education they have and what
