On the conductor's side he has to be able to communicate to the player what measure they will enter the song so the melody is played at the exact moment it is needed. For the player, it is very important they are paying very close attention to the conductor to again know exactly when to enter. Cueing is not hard only if the conductor can communicate to the players and the players are paying attention and know there music. Conducting included a lot of technique, being able to determine the beat and tempo, setting dynamics, and cueing in the players. Conductors are one of the most important things to an orchestra or any musical group. They are holding the group together and making sure everything is going smoothly during a performance; Conductors
As a result, the director has people that work with a smaller group of band members, opposed to the entire band, making the band easier to control. Although they might be the leader of the band, it is essential for other leaders to steps in and aid process of accomplishing
Much of what we do, we learn from experience. We behave the way we do because of our learning associations with the environment. Thus, through college life and its requirements, students naturally feel anxious while speaking in front of a group. This behavior is called a classically conditioned behavior, in other words, a learned response from experience. I feel anxious while giving a speech and I have learned by experience that I will always be anxious, so I can anticipate my natural response when speaking in front of a group.
First and foremost, leadership is showing skills of being the person who has everything under control. Being a leader is not simple, but being set into that position is knowing what to do and how to do it. Leadership is knowing the craft and leading others into the right path. I was the leader for the organization of a birthday party. I started by knowing what goes where, and making sure everyone else knew his or her job. Once the party had started, I made sure that I knew the order of events for the night. I was prepared and organized, so it made the party go smoother. I led everyone into knowing his or her job in the time of need. When leading an event, being prepared and having everything under control leads to better outcome. Leadership is something you learn and strive to succeed. Once someone takes the role of a leader, his or her skills will be put to the test any given time. With preparation and organization leading will be so much easier and convenient.
When Antonio had the severe flu at seven years old, he ended up going to the hospital. He recovered, but he becomes sick to his stomach every time he passed by the hospital. It is a bright example of classical conditioning because Antonio also experiences PTSD or posttraumatic stress disorder. While hospitalized and sick, Antonio became scared and fearful of dying, therefore when he was back to normal, the hospital brings back a painful memory that results create a conditioned response ("Module 6.2: Classical Conditioning" n.d).
a usual routine changed? All these questions and many more could make a huge difference when
The purpose of this essay is to expand my understanding of the importance of following instructions and why is it critical in a military setting. The United States Military is the most lethal and well trained armed force on this planet. It did not start out this way, it was started out by a handful of colonists that had unresolved grievances with their king. A few hundred years later, that very same military is able to drop a bomb or move troops anywhere in the world within a day. I will be explaining why discipline, the value of teamwork, the chain of command, and the importance following orders all play essential roles in ensuring the United States military “machine” continues to function in every theater it operates in.
Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is found in approximately 5% of children and is characterized by disruptive patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity that persists for at least six months (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The prevalence of ADHD makes it an especially important disorder to study.
In marching band I lead the drumline with help from the other section leader. We make decisions on what to play, when to play, and how to play it. One of the best examples of this is
The 1988 Educational Reform Act and the 2001 No Child Left Behind Act have shown the need for changes in the educational system and educators are continually making necessary changes in the classroom in order to ensure success for the future of all children. With the many changes impacting the instruction delivered and what students will know or understand from the instruction provided, educators devote more and more personal time into learning and implementing necessary changes in their instructional strategies. Time is an essential component of education. For students, time is spent in the classroom and on nightly homework in order to master skills for their future needs. The teachers’ time is spent mainly providing instruction and the planning for instruction to meet the needs of each individual student, along with continuing their own education in order to improve the educational output of the lives coming into their classrooms.
It is important for the interviewer or interrogator to be able to formulate effective techniques based on verbal and non-verbal cues because truly understanding what a person is saying, verbally and non-verbally, can “make or break” the interview or interrogation. Chapter 6 discusses in-depth detail how applying behavioral interviewing techniques can assist in effectively picking up on verbal and non-verbal cues.
Skill Technique – The drive is a shot hit hard at a horizontal angle, typically near the sideline of the court, while the shuttlecock is about at the level of the player between the shoulder and the knees (5). Keep racket arm up in front of the chest and spread weight evenly between the feet. In the forehand drive, side step toward the shuttle, leading with your racket leg, pointing the racket toward the sideline (2). Lock the wrist and draw the racket back in a sidearm motion. Then, put your weight on the racket leg, swing the racket forward, and unlock and flick wrist when contacting the shuttle. If the shuttlecock is on the side opposite of the racket, either switch racket hands, or crossover with the racket-side leg and drive it backhanded.
As a former band student, I held many leadership positions with my primary goal as serving others. As a Woodwind captain and section leader, I was responsible for teaching my younger peers how to successfully multitask between playing an instrument, marching multiple directions through a sequence of transitions, and maintaining a tempo. I was the role model and ‘go to’ person for over 50 individuals for any questions or any assistance needed for improving a technique. I was also granted the position of uniform manager which doubled my responsibilities of frequently and effectively problem solving.
As I read over Chapter 5 on reinforcers, I thought about my sister who just became a second grade teacher. This is her first-year teaching and her experience so far has been to learn as she goes. Every week she calls me with a new story of how she had to handle her class. Some are good, some are bad, but the stories are hilarious.
The theory of incidental learning is very interesting and reigns prevalent in the lives of many people today. It suggests that because we are constantly consumed with new information and products on a daily basis and that we are recognizing them without even realizing. Incidental learning is just another way that humans learn about information, but in a natural way. We have marketing strategists and advertisers placing their products in every area they can. From sidewalks with benches covered in ads, to commercials on television, and even banners running across the screens of our computers; if it’s out there, we 're going to see it. Incidental learning is the process of our brains recognizing something, even if we have never payed it much mind. It is casual and unintentional knowledge that we are consuming constantly. For example, a certain jingle you hear in a song may remind you of a product because the person promoting it used the song in a campaign commercial to catch people’s attention. Even if it is a product or brand that you do not use frequently, it still is noted in your head to associate the two together. Our brains are constantly stimulated by the flow of information that we see and hear. We recognize these updates as we are learning and evolving constantly. Another great example og incidental learning is Geico Insurance. Whenever anyone sees a green geico they automatically correlate it with the insurance company. The character is almost a staple in
(2015) the choral ensemble, as a vehicle for group instruction, provides an exciting and powerful means of creating music, however it shows absolute challenges when attempting to assess the achievement of its individual members. A quality choir group depends on individual members who makes possibilities. He also stated that another key characteristic of choir singing is that the members must be able to sing as a group as well as the capability to sing individually and must better know their own part. This would mean that they need to be well synchronized, starting and ending parts in unison or in a specific timing. The blending of their voices and being sensitive as to fit other’s voices is much important. To be more organized, most of the group must have a leader. A leader for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass especially during rehearsal. It is also to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each member. One good advantage of assigning a member of the choir to be the leader is to help them further develop their musicality and leadership as well as to help the conductor
