The president of the United States of America is important role to its ability to run successfully, and smoothly. The president makes vital decisions that have huge impacts for all those involved such as, its citizens, foreign citizens, and its allies. Barack Obama made his history in 2008, when he became the first African American president. This essay will look at his background, his run for president, his achieves, future plans for America, and my opinion as a British citizen. Barack Hussein Obama II was born in 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Barack Obama would be the first ever African-American president, whilst Hillary Clinton would be the first female president. While campaigning for to be president, there are three main factors that Obama claimed and it is thought to have won him the seat in the White House. Firstly, Obama contrast his consistent opposition to the war in Iraq. Secondly, Obama was running for change compared to Hillary Clinton who was running based on her experience. Thirdly, Obama didn’t overlook the 17 states that choose their national convention delegates through caucuses. Barack Obama choose Senator Biden as vice president during his election. There were various reasons why Obama won his campaign election. Promising to cut taxes for 95% of working families, end the interdependence from the Middle East for oil within the next decade. Another claim he made was to invest $150 billion to a more affordable source of energy. Since been in his position as the president of the United States, he has stopped corporate loophole and tax haven that doesn’t help America grow. His most successful achievement since becoming president is the ending of the war in Iraq, the fight with Al Qaeda, and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Obama has “bought an end to the combat mission in Iraq, and through the course of the past 14 month, more than 100,000 troops have returned to their families” (Compton).
