String instruments
Sting instruments are musical instruments that are made from wood and have strings. They make their sound when their strings vibrate. This causes the body of the instrument as well as the air inside to vibrate too. The strings are either plucked with the hand or a bow is drawn across the strings. In an orchestra the four string instruments are the violin, the viola, the cello and the bass.

The Violin
The violin is the smallest and highest pitched string instrument. It is played by a violinist or fiddler. When playing, the violinist holds the violin between the top of his left shoulder and the left side of his chin as he draws the bow across the string or plucks the strings with one or both hands. The sound can be stopped by placing a hand on the strings. The bow is made of wood and horse hair. The violin is tuned in perfect fifths. Music for the violin is written in the treble clef. In the orchestra, the violins play in two groups. These are the first violins and the second violins. In the orchestra, the violins sit to the left of the conductor in rows. The first violins are to the far left and the second violins are to the right of them. The Concert Master is usually a first violin player, and he or she sits in the front row of the first violins.

It has the lowest pitch and is described as heavy and grumbling. It is sometimes called the grandfather if the string family, the double bass and even the doghouse bass. It is the only string instrument tuned in fourths. The bass is played by a bassist who stands or sits on a tall stool. The bass has an end pin which stands on the ground and the bass rests against the bassist’s body as he plays. The bass is not only played in the orchestra but is often used to play jazz and blues and other genres. In the orchestra, the bass players sit at the back to the right of the conductor, behind the
The song I chose for the listening guide is “Crystalize” by Lindsey Sterling. The song was released as a music video on her YouTube channel. Lindsey Sterling, an American violinist, dancer, performance artist and composer, picked up learning the violin at age 5. Since then Sterling was in a band at age 16, introduced her own YouTube channel in 2007, and was a quarter finalist on Americas Got Talent in 2010. Americas Got Talent gained her both popularity and more traffic on her YouTube Channel and since 2010 Sterling has released two studio albums, an EP and a couple of singles.
Even though the size of the violin made it seem less intimidating, learning how to play the violin

14. What is the basso continuo? What instruments play it? The name Basso Continuo refers both to the “Bass” line/part in music as well as the group of instruments that plays the “Bass” line/part. Two instruments always play the Basso Continuo:
Even though my makeshift cardboard violin didn’t make any sound, I still carried it with me everywhere, always eager to show people mow much I had learned.I have been playing for twelve years now and even though I have enjoyed most of it, it has not always been so easy. There have been more late nights, crying in frustration over something I just could not get, but I made it through. Playing the violin has given me the nations determined attitude to set my mind on something and to not stop until I reach my goals. Being a musician also has also made me hyper-aware in relation to anything musical.I tend to pick up things that the average person doesn’t. You can hear the subtle nuances that might blow over many people. Most people might only hear the different emotions, but I can tell you what made it so sad and what instruments were used at what time to convey such emotion. I love playing the violin, I look at it as an opportunity to express my true emotions. Each piece of music that I play is an uncolored painting that I paint with emotions. I have to take every piece of music, interpreted it and make it my
The double bass, or upright bass has many different names. My favorite is the doghouse bass. This bass is often used in jazz. People play this by plucking or slapping the bass. Another common use is in orchestras. People play this style with bows. This bass is the largest and lowest pitched instrument of the viol family. The viol family contain the viola, violin, fiddle, and many others. The upright bass was the inspiration of all basses. I was the first bass and probably most important because of the sparks it caused for new invention. All basses are in my opinion the most important instruments because they hold everyone together. Learning to play the bass was my pleasure and I feel its something I will use for the rest of my life.
To practice the violin, is to increase one's awareness of pitch and intonation, not to mention coordination.
5. Musical Instruments and their instrument families: A viola, violin, cello, and bass are classified as string instruments. The flute, piccolo, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, English oboe, and contrabassoon are classified as woodwind instruments. The trumpet, tuba, French horn, and trombone are classified as brass instruments. Percussion instruments include timpani, xylophone, chimes, triangle, cymbals, and the bass drum. Keyboard instruments include

The Violin is a movie that begins how the movie ends, kind of like how Pulp Fiction a notorious movie for doing this, starts off with how the movie ends then at the end the movie all comes together. The Violin displays the lives of a grandfather (Plutarco), father (Genaro) , and son (Lucio) that first start off by playing music asking for money, no one seems interested in giving them money. As day turns into night Genaro goes into a type of bar to get fire arms, at first this is confusing but as the story progresses we understand that a rebellion against soldiers that are raiding towns and kicking citizens out of the town. Plutarco decides to try to get an inside scoop on what the soldiers are planning by going back to the town where his
As stated in this paper earlier at first the fabrication of violin’s strings were with goat gut. Now they are created out of synthetic materials or steel and twisted with various metals. The strings are also strung tighter, about fifty percent. Back then people did not use a chin rest like they do now; in fact, chin rests weren’t even brought until the 19th century (Powers). The fingerboard and the neck are now longer than they use to be. Some other changes include that of the bass bar and the sound post; both are thicker than they were back
Today the trumpet is used for making music in many different kinds of musical situations. It is used in musicals with other instruments for theme music as well as dance music. The modern day trumpet is also used in marching bands, concert bands, as well as jazz bands. My favorite setting where the trumpet is used is brass choir, where only two trumpets are used along with a trombone, tuba, and French horn. There are so many venues that the trumpet is used that many do not think about, such as rock bands and even country bands. When most people think of the trumpet, they think of marching bands or concert bands, but in reality the trumpet has a much wider variety that it is used for in today’s world than many think.
•Woodwinds: (piccolo, flute)- The piccolo is the highest pitched instrument of the orchestra. The shrillness from the piccolo can be heard by the audience, even when the rest of the band is playing fortissimo. The piccolo is much smaller and consists of only a head and body, as opposed to the flute which is much larger and has a head, body, and foot. The flute is known as the soprano voice of the woodwinds, and is frequently played as a melody instrument. Both the piccolo and the flute have the same fingerings and are both able to play rapid repeating notes, scales, and trills. The flute and piccolo look very similar, which is why the piccolo is known as the flauto piccolo, meaning little flute.
