For many years psychologist has observed and deliberated over humans and their life’s goals. The three much known psychologists came up with the concepts and they are: Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers and Viktor Frankl alone with many others. These three psychologist had studied and constructed the theory of self-Actualization and the meaning of life. They have agreed that self-actualization represents growth of an individual towards fulfillment of the highest need. Roger’s created the theory implicating, growth potential, by focusing on the, real self and the, ideal self, implying that this come with a full functioning person (Roger, Carl R., 2007) . Maslow, reflects his theory on, free will, and determinism, by giving techniques that separates different individuals (Maslow, Abraham..H.1959) . Frankl, theory is existentialism is one of the major features that present psychotherapy (Frankl, 1967). These psychologists is interested in understanding and helping humans by becoming more hopeful in themselves. By understanding and study of human’s weakness and changing their weakness into strengths and virtue. The reason for psychologist is to fix what broken and finding treatment within ourselves. The help of Rogers, Maslow, and Frankl gives clients advice, techniques to inspire humans, and examples of what is life’s fulfillments.

Humanistic conceptions of personality focus on our own natural progression towards achieving one’s full potential, having a holistic approach. Abraham Maslow (1908-1970) believes that growth and behaviour is motivated by a number of needs ranging from basic to psychological needs. He uses a hierarchy, commonly depicted as a five-tier pyramid in which the bottom 4 levels represent our deficit needs, shown in figure 1 below. Once the individual’s physiological needs are met, they may move to the next and so on. After all deficit needs have been met, an individual is capable of achieving self-actualisation. According to Maslow, fulfilling this need means reaching one’s highest potential and truly understanding one’s self.

He believed people learn to grow toward self-actualization during their entire life span. Rogers viewed this concept as counseling instead of psychotherapy. Rogers did not believe the idea about the therapist and client as a patient-doctor relationship. He believed that the relationship was person-to-person because he viewed the idea as the therapist talking with the client, not the client doing the majority of the talking (Cooper & McLeod, 2011). Rogers preferred to use the term “client” instead of “patient” because he related the term “patient” to an individual that is sick or has an illness. Roger’s theory was based on his insight into the human condition (Cervone & Pervin, 2010).
Motivation is a very strong tool we can use to get further in life and to achieve our dreams and goals. Setting goals for ourselves is something that I consider to be very important, I believe in always pushing myself further and further in life, not only physically but mentally as well. We all have different things or tools we can use to motivate us towards our end goals. In order for us to stay motivated we have to have a goal and be driven towards achieving that goal.
