No matter if you stay in for one enlistment or two, the depth of the Marine Corps is unknown so knowledge will continuously flow and it is endless. All Marines get taught the basics of being a leader in entry level training, but only a few can react to help form their trait into an elite skill only for them. In order to become the elite you have to build a "Foundation of Values" (pg.31) so that respect in all aspects will become evident between the followers and their leader(s). While setting the example it does not matter what rank you are, you still show that the standards that you hold will reflect on who you are as a person and a Marine. Each Marine chooses how their standards and ways will become beneficial not only to the Marine Corps, but to themselves also. Why do ethics make conducting a moment of decision making so hard? At some point and time every Marine will come to a point in their career or life where the grey area will be the path they choose, but will not think that it is the right way. Moral and ethic dilemmas are common more and more each day. Every Marine is taught to be the toughest both physically, and mentally.

No “greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13, KJV) That verse has such a profound meaning. Giving your life so that someone may live is the ultimate sacrifice. In the military, we are asked to commit to that possibility. There may come a day when we are asked to give our lives to save those of our fellow service men or women.

November 10, 1775, is revered as being the Marine Corps birthday, and its birthplace being at Tun Tavern, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern, to establish two battalions of Continental Marines, under the command of Cpt. Samuel Nicholas, as an amphibious fighting force who would later in March of 1776, participate in their first foreign raid, in the Bahamas (www.globalsecurity.org ). After the Treaty of Paris

The United States of America has not always been the world superpower that it is today. The same goes for its Navy. In the first several years of existence, the United States Navy was not a formidable fighting force. The young nation was hesitant to invest in a navy for many reasons, one of them being to prevent provoking the world powers of the time, France and Britain. On top of that, navies were very expensive to build and required a significant amount of resources to maintain, which the U.S. did not have at the time. To say that the United States Navy was ill prepared for war would be a dramatic understatement. The U.S. had a total of fifteen ships in its entire naval fleet compared to the might of the Royal Navy which possessed over six hundred warships. Even with the odds stacked against the U.S., President Madison declared war on 18 JUN 1812. The lack of size and power of the navy at the time would make it extremely difficult to satisfy the needs of the newly founded nation.

I am very much interested in the field of engineering and hope to pursue a career in engineering sometime in the future. Although I haven’t decided which branch of engineering I want to pursue yet, my experiences as an engineering magnet student at Wheaton High school and the different engineering programs I am a part of have ignited within me a passion for engineering.

Our country was a maritime nation at its birth in 1775 and still is today. Four of Five capitals are within 300 miles of a coast, demonstrating the importance of an infantry force from the sea to national security. Together, the individual Marine, similar indoctrination, "every Marine a rifleman", and our maritime heritage make up the Marine tradition.

On November 10th, 1775, the Continental Congress passed a resolution that stated "two Battalions of Marines be raised", which established the Continental Marines, and is now considered the birth date of the Marines. The newly formed Continental Marines served on both land and sea, and took part in many major engagements, which helped establish them as an important branch of the Armed Forces. The first Commandant of the Continental Marines was Captain Samuel Nicholas, who was born in Philadelphia in 1744. He was commissioned to be a “Captain of Marines” by the 2nd Continental Congress on November 5th 1775. Nicholas soon established Tun Tavern as the recruiting headquarters. Many people are concerned about the U.S. military because of how many risks come with joining it. However, the U.S. military also explains the benefits that one could receive. Joining the military is a decision that should not be taken lightly. One must understand all aspects of the military. In order for a voter to be fully informed about joining the US military, one must consider both the risks, like mental illnesses and commitment and benefits, like education, and experience.

Why does America still have a need for a Marine Corps? Since 1775, the Nation has called upon the Army and Marines to defend its borders and protect its shores. On June 14, 1775, the Continental Army formed a militia to fight in the American Revolutionary War; before the United States was even established as a country. The Army’s mission is to fight and win the Nation’s wars by providing prompt, sustained land dominance across the full range of military operations in support of combat commanders. Then just five months later on November 10, 1775, out of a bar in Pennsylvania called the “Tun Tavern” two battalions of Continental Marines formed to protect the Nations naval fleet. Since then They have continually reviewed their mission in the context of this uncertain world, adapting to the changing security needs of the Nation while preserving the core values and professional capabilities that make Marines succeed in war, peace, and at the front door of conflict.

Honor, Courage, and Commitment are the back bone to the U.S. Navy they infuse the Navy with a living life blood an unfaultable force. Honor to me is associated with pride not the seven deadly sins pride, but more like taking a personal ownership in all that you do so that you present your absolute best every time. As an officer this is the standard that should be strived for and extended upon; the taking of ownership not only of tasks, but the well being of your sailors as well. Courage to me has many forms it could be that sailor/soldier who gets a soft whisper in their ear that tells them to enlist so they can stand on the front lines to protect others, or the kid who takes his and others fears and takes a stand against the playground

The Marine Corps has been protecting America’s freedom and acting as a symbol of strength since 1775. The United States Marine Corps is a force for greatness, bound to the words liberty and justice, sworn to protect every American soul. Marines have battled on land, in air, and at sea for their country and many brave men and women have lost their lives in the line of fire. These brave soldiers are lead by intelligent officers who are strong leaders, quick decision makers, and possess great mental toughness. The young men and women blessed with the privilege of being officers in the Marine Corps face many hardships on their journey to greatness, yet many travel down this road and benefit from the experience greatly.

Currently there are 221, 29 foot Response Boat Small assets in the Coast Guards inventory. Of these assets, all were made with hardened tempered glass. This paper will discuss a need to remove current glass and replace with automotive safety glass to reduce hazards to boat crews.

The main agenda of Maritime security is protection of our National ports. By preventing smuggling, as well as, other threat scenarios like a ship being used as a collision weapon or transportation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Maritime security is an extremely broad area of concern. It covers everything terrorism, the physical security of ports and ships right through to the security of energy resources into the future.
