The Role of Components within a given computer system in the Production and Manipulation of Graphics
Introduction: In this assignment, I will explain the role of hardware and software components within a computer system. Furthermore, I will explain how they relate to digital graphics.I will also recommend suitable components for Cambridge Industrial Design. (P1)
I will then compare the limitations of different software packages used in graphics work. (M1)
Digital graphics are in their own way an art form, digitally constructed to create phenomenal images. However, you need to have some sort of artistic ability combined with a suitable computer system before you can design the perfect graphic.

For example, a word document is saved to a folder within a folder within a hard drive. Other files such as programs are saved onto the hard drive. Modern day HDDs are cheap and effective as the cost is low and the memory capacity can be of mass size, however, they are slow which makes HDDs a worthy competitor for SSDs. SSDs are flash memory drives, capable is holding programs and loading them faster than HDDs, however, small in memory capacity and expensive. Furthermore, you can combine the two. You can use the Solid state drive to save and quickly load programmes such as adobe Photoshop and use the hard disk driveto store images, videos, music and documents. I would recommend this powerful combination to anyone searching for fast performance and large memory capacities.
Processors (CPU)
The processor (otherwise known as CPU) is the very soul and performance core of the computer system; it is what allows the operating system and other software applications to-run. Every program demands dedication from the processor to decode commands that are then actionedinside the CPU to make them work. When a program is running, the CPU has to make every command work consistently one after the other. However, modern processors have the power to process commands side by side. This means that the quicker the commands are executed, the quicker the program responds to the user. Central Processing Units (CPUs) play an important role when it comes to maintaining
2. Which of the following is an example of the hardware component of an information system?
Hard Disc Drive: a HDD is like a person's long term memory. it is used to store any type of data from files to applications. The data on a HDD is non-volatile, which means the data will stay on the disc even if the computer is switched off. A SSD is another way to store data, but it is faster than a HDD because there are no moving parts.
3. The Graphical Processing Unit is a hardware component capable of quickly drawing items to the screen.
Hard Disk is a non-volatile data storage device that is used to store and retrieve digital information using platters (rotating disks).
Starting from the basics the CPU (central processing unit) also known as a processor is a microprocessor contains multiple cores that process itself. In a system you would find many CPU’s and if you open the CPU case up then you will find that the socket(processor) is inside and if you zoom in again you will also find that a processor is made up of core’s. There are two types of processors a single core processor and a multiple processor the difference between them is that the single-core processor can complete one task at a time while a multiple core processor can run two programs. A popular and successful solution of multi-core from Intel meant that you could perform 2 tasks at the same time
In this phase of product development, the PD team had a challenge that they had to create a product that required minimal computer competency. Meanwhile, they were asked to include high-quality multimedia components (Case Studies, 2002).
It is very easy to take the visualization of information too far however. For example, modern dashboard designed programs and applications which present information in a variety of ways appears very gimmicky, and according to Stephen Few, they can actually limit the amount of information presented to the user that pertains to a problem they are trying to get information on (12). Therefore there exist an important balance in the presentation of information in design. It should allow the user capture important information from the product, but the way the information is visualized should not be so flashy or over saturated to where it stuns the user and inhibits their comprehension of the data presented. Some of the more subtle forms of visualization that need consideration, according to William Lidwell, et al, is how colors and angles can affect the pleasure of viewing a design through innate associations people have with them, such as red signaling danger. (61-63) Secondly, the usability of a design needs careful consideration. After all, if the user cannot actually get any information out of the design, it will be of no use. This is why
The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is a computer component that converts data input into information output. It is a complicated and broad set of electronic circuits that performs compiled instructions. All computers and laptops must have a central processing unit to operate as it acts as the ‘brain’ of the device. There are numerous ways of referring to a CPU, such as processor, microprocessor or central processor. Compared to some older models, the more recent models are small, square and have connectors underneath it. The CPU is attached to the slot or socket of the motherboard. It is usually secured and held down by a small lever.
Within this report and analysation of three gaming system can be found; A pre-build system, self-made system and a console system and compressing between each of the systems. This system will be of the High-end builds as the game it shall be running up to standard will be BattleField 4 which at the moment is the highest demanding game in both graphical power and processing power.
The pre-processing module consists of geometrical properties and from there move on to computer-aided drafting, or CAD repair, boundary, or physical property. If CAD repair is needed, then mesh is the next step followed by domain. The computing module consists of numerical values which then lead to solid mechanics, CFD module, or other domain solvers. The post-processing module consists of visualization, data analysis, and performance analysis. Last, platform control consists of PC’s or workstations, SMP and MPP, cluster computers, and grids. All of this information is gathered from the user’s perspective (Zheng, Xie, Zou, Chen, & Zhang, 2010).
Nowadays, computer has many programs used for art and design. The most popular programs used for restoring and drawing graphics or images are Photoshop and Illustrator. Photoshop and Illustrator are graphic programs created by Adobe System. Adobe Photoshop is more popular than Adobe Illustrator. Charmbers (2012) stated that "It is used to improve photographs and editing in terms of modifying the colors and size and repair defects in the pictures". Adobe Illustrator similar to Adobe Photoshop in the tools and in – forted well. It is also used for drawing graphic or images. However, there are some big differences between Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. In this essay will discuss the definition of Photoshop and Illustrator, the differences
File storage – File storage is required to save and store the images so they can be used again, modified, backed up and sent to a third party. File storage can be a hard drive, CD ROM, flash cards and a USB storage device. Hard drives are the most commonly used file storage for graphical files as it is quick and easier to open as software’s tend to look there first due to the computer system’s default settings. Many computer systems have CD-ROMS and DVD drives, these can also be used to store files but must be a type of storage that the computer supports. Many digital cameras also use flash cards to store digital graphics.
In the following report I will state the necessary hardware, software and other devices that are required to produce graphics for our clients and why they are needed.
This great progress in display technologies have brought us a long way in how we receive, perceive, experience and interpret all the information. Mass media -- film, entertainment, internet, gaming, architecture and data visualization -- have taken new shapes around these display technologies. One important thing to note about all these displays is that all output only 2D imagery. They create a two-dimensional array of colored picture elements a.k.a. pixels that, stacked tightly next to each other, project images or text. But in the real world, we see objects in three dimensions and we perceive the third dimension with our naked eye.
The CPU is the core component of the computer which acts as the brain of the computer. The CPU is in charge of handling every instruction that is
