My organ is the urinary bladder for the organ paper. The function of the urinary bladder is a storage container temporarily for urine, until it is expelled through the urethra. The elasticity of the bladder is unmatched as it has the ability to increase in size to make room for increases in urine volume from 600 to 800 ml at maximum capacity. The reason for this elasticity is due to the visceral muscles and transitional epithelium located in the walls of this hollow organ, that allows this distensibility enabling it to fill and empty multiple times every day. Another function of the bladder is to aid in expelling urine from the body by contracting the detrusor muscle as well as the relaxing of the urethral sphincter; the external urethral …show more content…
The outer most layer of the superior aspect is the serous membrane, which provides protection from friction with other organs located in this cavity. The outer most layer of the inferior and lateral aspect of the bladder is known as the adventitia, which anchors the urinary bladder to the tissues of the pelvis. The function of the urinary bladder is a storage container temporarily for urine, and the other function of the bladder is to aid in expelling urine from the body using the detrusor muscle. The bladder helps to maintain homeostasis by aiding in expelling urine which is comprised of urea, minerals, ammonia, excess proteins, and excess water. This system works closely with the respiratory system, circulatory system, and the immune system. Without the urinary bladder we would have no way to store urine and would have to constantly urinate throughout the …show more content…
The cardiovascular system plays an immensely important role in the urinary system, without proper blood supply to the kidneys there would be no filtration and no urine to pass into the bladder. Proper blood supply is essential and renal failure would be catastrophic to the process of urination. Maintaining healthy renal arteries and veins is very important also to the respiratory system which keeps the tissues oxygenated, without this the tissue could not perform the duties required or even stay alive. The immune system could undesirably affect the kidneys as well, which would impede the flow of urine to the bladder. Acute or systemic inflammation on the urinary system would directly affect the bladder as well, this is why we need the immune system to keep this inflammation at bay. Kidney damage from this would directly affect all the systems mentioned here, so it is very important to keep the immune system healthy not just for the sake of the urinary system but almost every system of the human body. The urinary system although often overlooked is extremely valuable and required to stay alive and maintain homeostasis. So is the bladder and if you appreciate the ability to hold your urine in until you can find a nearby restroom you should be thankful for it as
Humans are supposed to to to the bathroom four to six times a day. The pressures of life force us to clench and hold it in. Two kidneys, two europhras, a bladder, two ureters, and a urethra make up the urinary system. Urine comes from the kidneys by mixing water and other wastes. Then they go to the ureters and into the bladder. The bladder inflates like a balloon when full. The sphincter opens up when the bladder is full and the urine goes to the external urethral sphincter. You are able to control the opening and closing of that area and that is how you hold your pee. It will weaken or overwork your muscular slang which could lead to bad side
1. What specific part of the kidney does the dialysis tubing represent? What is the function of this part?
More serious, but rarely, bladder burst will be resulted in when you are holding too long. Bladder bursting happens mostly to people who already have a damaged bladder, such as pelvic injury. Tyche Brahe, a Danish astronomer and alchemist in the 16 century, died from a bladder burst. Based on the report, “He refused to leave a banquet to relieve himself because he believed it to be a breach of etiquette, but then he found he was unable to pee at all. He descended into delirium and died soon after when his entire bladder burst” (Crew). Although there are scarce instances of bladder bursting that occur on normal people who drink too much alcohol, “the alcohol dampened the signal to their brain that is telling them they needed to pee” (Crew).
In spite of the elasticity and merits, holding pee as a habit would lead you sink into several harmful long-term effects. Urinary retention and infection, and bladder infection are two typical risks you might at risk for holding pee. Firstly, base on a research, “constantly holding in your pee can weaken your bladder muscles with age, which could lead to urinary retention - the dreaded condition that prevents you from being able to fully empty your bladder when you pee, which means you feel like peeing a lot” (Crew). In the other words, peeing often means your body that deprived of the ability to know when it is time to pee. The bladder muscles won’t be loose by a few times; however, in a continually rated speed, the bladder muscles will gradually

Depending on the stage at presentation, the primary management strategies for patients with MIBC consist of surgery and/or chemotherapy. The cure rates for stage II cancers treated with surgery alone are high. A key challenge in the management of MIBC is that the majority of patients have locally advanced disease (Stages III to IV) at first presentation. There is a continuum between NIMIBC and MIBC, with the advanced cases usually associate with less-differentiated histology and aneuploidy, with common sites of metastasis include regional lymph nodes, bone, lung, skin and liver{Kaufman, 2006 #782}. From the low cure rates achieved with radical cystectomy, there is strong evidence that UBC, from the outset, is a systemic disease{Kaufman, 2006 #782}. The limitations of local treatment are
Urination is controlled by a complex central nervous system mechanism that coordinates urine storage and release by the regulation of smooth muscle in the bladder and urethra. Bladder storage, emptying and coordinated urinary sphincter activity , are controlled by the sympathetic, parasympathetic, and somatic nervous systems.
The main organs of the urinary system are the kidneys, which form urine. The other parts of the system, the ureters, the urinary bladder, and the urethra, neither form urine nor change its composition. They are structures that transport urine from the kidneys to the outside of the body. Endoscopy is a medical procedure that uses tube-like instruments to look at the inside of the body. Laparoscopy is a type of surgical procedure in which a small incision is made, usually in the navel, through which a viewing tube is inserted. The viewing tube has a small camera on the eyepiece. This allows the doctor to examine the abdominal and pelvic organs on a video monitor.
The urinary system is made up of the kidneys, the ureters, bladder and urethra. The kidneys take nutrients from liquids that are nurturing to the body. Bladder is like an overflow that holds urine waiting to be released. The urethra is the tubes that extend from the bladder through to the end of the penis or vagina. Lastly, the ureters are tubes that
Urinary SystemA Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one huge urinary complaint, as many as 8.1 million visits a year to your local clinic are due to UTI’s. (NIH, 2006) Some signs and symptoms are such as pelvic pain, increased urination, pain when urinating even a kidney infection can cause this. There are many ways to test for a UTI for example a dipstick test. The dipsticks are made to test pH levels, glucose, blood, leukocyte and more to diagnose a UTI, the preparation for this test is cleaning oneself around the urethra. There is also tests done in the laboratory known as Urinalysis test. Urinalysis test have nitrates in them that will show if a person is carrying a UTI, when preparing for the test don’t take things such as nonprescription medications or supplements as it can affect the test. Lastly a urine culture test can be done as well.
People who cannot keep urine from leaking have a condition called urinary incontinence. The muscle that normally keeps urine from leaking (urinary sphincter) may be weak. To treat this condition, a special material (bulking agent) can be injected into the tube that carries urine away from your bladder (urethra). This is called an implant. It is used to narrow and strengthen the urethra.
The kidneys produce the urine which drains into, and is stored in the bladder through the ureter before being excreted through the urethra as waste, and out of the body. On average the human bladder can hold approximately 500ml of urine before conscious waste release is necessary.
The Internal urethral sphincter is involuntary. The ureters enter the bladder diagonally from its dorsolateral floor in an area called the trigone. The trigone is a triangular shaped area on the postero-inferior wall of the bladder. The urethra exits at the lowest point of the triangle of the trigone. The urine in the bladder also helps regulate body temperature. If the bladder becomes completely void of fluid, it causes the patient to chill.
Urethra — The urethra is the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside of the body. In males, it has the additional function of expelling (ejaculating) semen when the man reaches orgasm. When the penis is erect during sex, the flow of urine is blocked from the urethra, allowing only semen to be ejaculated at orgasm.
How many of us really think about our ability to urinate, I know I never did, but for my Uncle and Cousin, they could only wish to do what comes so naturally to us. When you have kidney disease and suffer Renal failure, which is what both of my relative's had, the kidneys are unable to remove those wastes through urinating. When the kidneys no longer perform these functions adequately, wastes and excess fluid build up in the blood. Some of the warning signs of kidney disease are as follows:
