Colonists fought for independence, land, and rights while enduring the hate from loyalists and the attacks of the British throughout two separate wars to fight for what they believed in. Though both of the wars were not close in time that they took place, they have a lot to do with each other and a lot to do with the independence of what is America today. The War of 1812 was the second war for independence because the British were treating the people of the United States as they were still colonists and the United States wanted clear independence and freedom.
The United States of America was undertaking a major task in setting out to conduct its first war after the drafting of the Constitution. The British Empire had encroached just too far for President Madison, and the waterways in which the United States depended were threatened by British naval vessels repeatedly. There were three stated causes to the beginning of the War of 1812, and each of them has to do with specific problems that the British had put into place before the Americans.
As you can see there were multiple causes of the War of 1812. One main cause was because Great Britain had full power over most of Canada and Americans wanted them to leave so they could expand the United States. Another cause would be because the trade ban by Britain and France proceeded in the capturing of American ships. Lastly, because, Great Britain had begun to stop American ships and forced the people on the ships to join the British Navy. The United

Many British officials were hijacking U.S. ships and kidnapping the sailors onboard, forcing them to serve in the Navy
In many ways, the War of 1812 was considered as the “...sequel to the earlier war with that nation. [Britain]” (Stagg, 19) Britain tended to argue that America “had become free but not independent” (Stagg, 19). War of 1812 was the first one to end with America being declared as a free nation, the decision that came with a lot of delegation and thought. There are several reasons why America decided to be involved in war with Britain: to “stop British impressment, reopen trade lanes with French, remove the British support from Native American tribes, and to secure their territorial honor and integrity in the face of their old rulers.” (Civilwar.org). Many relationships between America and other countries had been infringed due to Britain cutting off ties between America and its main suppliers, such as France. The United States depended on these countries that were once their alliances, in order to be able to supply the needs of the population. Basically, during the War of 1812 America wanted and needed to prove to Britain that they were an actual and self-sufficient country that could meet its own needs without the help of anyone. However, Britain was putting a damper on their success as a country. Even though wars bring only drawbacks alone, the present day relationship between Britain and the United States would not be anywhere close

When Tecumseh attempted to fight against the U.S. in the north-west territory that merely added fuel to the fire. Another cause would be the British impressment of American soldiers. Regardless of the cause of war, one thing is certain, the outcome was remarkable.
The origins of the War of 1812 between the United States and Great Britain stem from flawed diplomacy. President James Madison inherited a divided party and unruly Congress from his predecessor, Thomas Jefferson. Lacking firm leadership, Madison was unable to create a commanding presence in office that would lead to effective relations with European nations. Madison eagerly accepted Napoleon’s declaration that he had imposed non-intercourse on England, souring any relations between the U.S. and Britain. In Britain, diplomacy was similarly ineffective. Already tied up in the Peninsular War in Spain and Portugal and Napoleon’s invasion of Russia, British government officials neglected the United States and dismissed any idea that the U.S. would

Another reason for the war's start was because “motivation of the war ‘hawks’ of the US congress to go to war with great Britain was their need to totally expel Great Britain from the remaining land still under British domain on the North American Peninsula,” (Tim Nash). This need to push Britain out of the North American peninsula helped the USA grow to be what it is today. As the war heated, America grew its army to include not only Americans, but also had the Baratarian pirates and some Native American tribes, though most sided with the British hoping for independence.
