The war of 1812, known as the conflict between Britain and the United States, saw the parts of many groups of people. For two and a half years, Americans fought against the British, Canadian colonists, and native nations. Americans, Native Americans, and Canadians had different motivations for fighting in the war of 1812, and each group admired different national heroes.
One of the important differences were the motivations each group had for fighting the war of 1812. The British decided to fight against the Americans because the Americans stabbed them in the back while the British were in war with French Empire. (Lambert, para.1) According to Lambert the American merchants tried to exploit their neutral status to breach this blockade, the

On the other hand, Native Americans decided to fight on the side of the British because they taught it might mean a victory in expansion. Similarly, there were Native Americans fought on the American side as well because they wanted to help the Americans at the Battles of Fort George and Chippewa (Fixico, para. 2). According to Fixico, There were Indians who sided with the Americans -- Red Jacket and Farmer’s Brother led a Seneca faction to help the Americans at the Battles of Fort George and Chippewa. But most Indian nations sided with the British against the U.S, believing that a British victory might mean an end to expansion. Although the Americans went to war with the British because the Americans thought that the British were being unfair because they were unfairly taxing the Americans to pay of their debts and the Americans just wanted freedom, the Native Americans and the Americans fought because the Natives thought …show more content…
The Americans had their heroes, those heroes were Andrew Jackson, Jacob Brown, and Winfield Scott (Hickey, para. 1). According to Hickey, the best American generals in this war – Andrew Jackson, Jacob Brown, and Winfield Scott – were unable to turn the tide because each was confined to one or two theaters in a war that had seven or eight theaters. Andrew Jackson, was the seventh president of the United States of America, when the war 1812 began Jackson was a military man in title. He had never served active duty and he had never led troops in combat. In December 1812 Jackson marched with to New Orleans with 1,500 troops to reinforce the garrison there. Jacob Brown, was a hero because he was an army officer during the war and he was a success on the northern border. Winfield Scott, was he won recognition for his leadership in the war with the Americans and British. These three men are true heroes to the Americans. Similarly, the Canadians team tagged with the Americans I would say the Americans were their heroes and also the three Americans Andrew Jackson, Jacob Brown, and Winfield were their heroes. Although, the Natives were in the battle with the British they still had their hero as well, Tecumseh was a Native American warrior and chief his confederacy helped in the capture of Fort Detroit. This was a leader to the Natives because he helped with the war of 1812 (Fixico, para. 4) According to Fixico,
The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and Great Britain from June 1812 to the spring of 1815 (Findling, 15). When the war began, it was being fought by the Americans to address their grievances toward the British, though toward the end, the issues eventually were unjustified and reasons manipulated. There is no single cause for the War of 1812 but instead, several related causes, such the influence of the War Hawks, the impressments as well as the Embargo and Non-Intercourse acts, and the British's possible interference with the Indian Nations, and land ownership disputes between the Natives and Americans, ultimately leading to the Battle of Tippecanoe.
From June 1812 – February 1815, the United States fought a war against Great Britain, Native Americans, and Canadians. Most Americans today have either forgotten or remember very little about this war. The reason for this is that there was president associated with the war. President James Madison as a war leader is greatly overshadowed by the likes of George Washington and the Revolutionary War, Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, Woodrow Wilson and World War 1, or Franklin Roosevelt and War World 2. Also there were seven or eight theaters of war during this time, but only 3 capable Generals, Andrew Jackson, Winfield Scott, and Jacob Brown. No capable leader or general emerged to carry the nation to victory.
Throughout the lectures and learn smart assessments regarding the American Revolution and the War of 1812, there are many different factors as to why Americans declared both of these wars as well as how these wars were both won by America. Colonists fought for independence, land, and rights while enduring the hate from loyalists and the attacks of the British throughout two separate wars to fight for what they believed in. Though both of the wars were not close in time that they took place, they have a lot to do with each other and a lot to do with the independence of what is America today. The War of 1812 was the second war for independence because the British were treating the people of the United States as they were still colonists and the United States wanted clear independence and freedom.
In Battles such as Thames and Baltimore, the United States conquered the British and Canadian troops. In the Battles of Chippewa and Horseshoe Bend, the American militia defeated the Swanee and Creek Natives respectively. They were against the Natives because of their alliance with the British forces. The death of Tecumseh was seen as a great achievement to them because it led to the end of battles versus the natives. The Americans, for the most part, were victorious on the water as well. The USS Constitution defeated the British vessel Guerriere on 19 August 1812 and the Java in December of that year. They also took over British ships and Canadian territory in the Battle of Lake Erie and the Battle of Plattsburgh.
The War of 1812 was started by America due to British encroachment on three fronts, trade restrictions imposed by the British, the increasing alliances of the British with Indian tribes blocking American expansion West, and due to British interference with merchant class ships in the Atlantic. The war was fought in the Great Lakes region between America and Canada, near New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico, in the Atlantic trade routes, and around Washington DC. The British had always considered the American insurrection in the 1770s to be a temporary event, their continued battles within the European continent as well as the rest of the British empire had proven to be too distracting to keep a solid check on North America. The British also had not anticipated a war in North America in the lead up to the war of 1812 due to the fragility of the American states, leading to the hubris Britain retained in its relations with the young United States of America.
The War of 1812 had many conflicts and made a lot of enemies between countries. The British did not want America to trade with France and the British colonies such as Canada were forced to fight for them. The First Nations were reluctant to fight at first, but they were terrified about the Americans migrating west, therefore were required to fight with the British. All sides had a different reason to fight in the war. In the end, no one obtained what they desired, and everyone lost something. Among the many losers in the War of 1812, the First Nations lost the most because they lost more in many different ways such as, many of them lost their home. Also, due to the residential order, over 100 Nations were permanently displaced.

Ben O’Brien Midterm Exam Our Memory of War: The War of 1812 The war of 1812 to many is looked at as a two-year conflict between the United States and Great Britain. That is all that many think it is, a conflict. Just more tensions that rose between the two countries.
The War of 1812 lasted for two and a half years, and was fought mainly by the United States and Britain. The war was caused by economic restrictions in the United States, which were put in place by the British. Another catalyst was America’s desire to expand their land. The War of 1812 was regarded as one of America’s worst-fought wars. Americans expressed no passion or belief in what they were fighting for, and they lacked unity (page 233). Even so, the War of 1812 was the root of many accomplishments in the United States. The increased sense of nationalism among Americans motivated many historic people to achieve great things.
The War of 1812, obviously fought in 1812, was a war between the fairly new United States of America, and its former mother country, Great Britain. There had been increasing tensions between Great Britain and the US at the time. There was more resentment from the US towards the British than the other way around, so in 1812, the United States declared War. This war lasted for a little over two and a half years, and most of the fighting took place along the eastern coast of North America. The main causes of the War of 1812 were British support of Native rebellion, and British policies of impressment, and in the end, the war was a success for the United States.
Thesis: There were many events that created conflicts between the Unites states and Great Britain and would later lead to the war of 1812
Twenty-nine years after the signing of the Treaty of Paris of 1783, which ended the Revolutionary War between America and Britain, was the year that marked the beginning of a new conflict that would last America the next three years, the War of 1812. On June 16th of that year, President James Madison declared the start of a war that would greatly impact the future of our country. Britain, still one of the world's greatest superpowers, was currently warring with France at the time of the declaration, however, Britain's reputation as a formidable opponent stood strong. The War of 1812 held a great significance in the history of America: Reasonable purposes for conflict, major conflict with Native Americans, great controversy among its supporters and opposers, numerous honorable battles, the inclusion of African Americans in the war, a memorable conclusion, and notable results.
1776 was the year that our founding fathers declared that the thirteen colonies are one, under the new country of United States of America. After defeating the British during the War for Independence, the American people were thrilled with the fact that they are free from British chains and are able to become a leading nation. However they did not expect to be involved in another conflict that will be known as the War of 1812. At first the American people wanted to stay clear away from the conflict for economic reason, but that all changed once British decided to evoke the American people by tempering with their ships, cargo, sailors, and peace back home. The War of 1812 or “America’s Second War for Independence” was not based solely on materialist
To so many people the War of 1812 is considered the “second war for independence . The war takes place between the years of 1803 and ends in 1812. Americas involvement in the war began by British sailors tormenting and enlisting American sailors to sail and fight for the British. “Most of Americas seven million people lived in coastal states, and for more than a century, seafaring had been both livelihood and lifeline in North America. This way of life was threatened when the British, exercising their advantage, established a blockade along the eastern seaboard, strangling American shipping and commerce.” Britain was already at war with the Napoleon lead French forces, America was profiting greatly by trading with each power, it was when the French and British began braking the maritime laws on the open ocean that citizens of the United States entered the war.
