Guns have numerous uses besides killing your fellow man. Hunting is a big reason to own a weapon. Across the country, people hunt game; small and big. Some people might see this as a cruel act, but in most states the White Tailed Dear is amazingly overpopulated. Not many complain when you kill a cow to eat a hamburger, so it shouldn't be an issue to go hunting. People also enjoy shooting guns at targets. You can do long range sniping with rifles, shoot clay pigeons in the air with shot guns, or shoot targets with a hand gun. Each hobby is completely harmless, and enjoyable. Along with the recreational activities that firearms make possible, there is self defense. Let's face it - if you're in your home at night with an intruder in the house, who will act faster, 911 or a firearm in the hands of a trained user? The answer is obvious. In an emergency situation, a firearm is almost an essential. One might argue that the odds of you being held up in your own house are slim; well so are the odds of a gun related death. If a gun user is properly trained, a gun can and would protect people in case of an emergency.

Ever since 1364 when the first account of a firearm was recorded humans have wanted to control guns. Gun control would eventually travel with Columbus when he first came to America and set up the first colony called Jamestown. And there would be rules regarding weapons on the Mayflower compact.

The Purpose of the Constitution is to Set A National Government with Separation Of Power, and Checks and Balances. The Bill Of Rights purpose is to protect American Citizens Rights. There are 27 Amendments in the Constitution, but 10 of those 27 are considered the Bill Of Rights.

How many of us want the U.S. government to have the right to tell us what to do, and when w can do it. There are probably not many who would agree that the government should have that right. Though having gun control laws is not to that extreme, some would say it is the first step. Growing up in a small town, and also growing up with guns my whole life I was one of those people who did not want gun control laws. Then after reading two articles that discussed this topic I found that I have been ignorant about this subject.

Today in this day and age the world is filled with hate and violence and other terrible things. People use weapons and other objects to cause terror on others for many reasons such as power and wealth. Firearms are one of the weapons someone may use to harm or rule over others because of the danger the weapon can cause. Over the years with gun violence and killings some people want to get rid of the citizens right to purchase and own firearms. I agree that gun violence bad, but taking a persons right to bear arms will not solve the problem with gun violence in todays society.

The Second Amendment from the United States Constitution states: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. According to the Second Amendment it grants U.S. citizens the right to bear arms, but it was written during a very different time when the United States was becoming an independent country from England, establishing a government and creating a constitution for the people. During that time, there were no public safety systems, like the police, and there were no automatic weapons available.

In the United States Constitution the second amendment states that, our right to bear arms is protected. This right was adopted on December 15, 1791 as part of the first ten amendments. Obviously you can't bear arms if you don't have a license plate to proof that you are responsible enough to obtain a weapon. The reason most people want the right to bear arms is for protection. In my opinion I think people should bear anything that makes them feel safe no matter who it is, with that being said whoever desires to have a weapon for protection should have to go through training, get a license, and should also have a mental health test.

That is correct; however, guns make it very easy for them. There are many other ways to kill people such as, knives but you cannot stab 40 people in 10 seconds as you can do it with an assault rifle. The children of legal gun owners can also get easy access to guns. Guns come with responsibility that most children aren’t ready to handle. According to Maggie Fox, who is a senior writer for NBC News, “As many as one in five children who are at risk of suicide live in homes where they can get hold of guns—the single most effective means to killing themselves—researchers reported on Monday” (Fox). Parents buy guns thinking that they are keeping their kids safe, but in fact they are putting them in greater danger. Many children wouldn’t even commit suicide if they weren’t able to get hold of a gun so easily. Many parent think that their children know better and will never put their hands on a gun but according to studies, “Two million American children live in homes with unsecured guns. We know how curious kids can be. It’s not surprising that very often when these kids find a gun that is unlocked and loaded, the results are deadly. Studies have shown that children will touch a loaded gun even if they’ve been trained not to.” (Watts). Nevertheless, after that tragic day we weren’t prepared for this attack as the thousand and later, millions died because our citizens neglected the world that was about to start. In today's time when our enemies have become the one’s we instituted to protect us, shouldn’t we have a way to fight back? Knowing what enemy we’re facing should give us the right to at least keep our families safes.

Guns are dangerous and that is exactly why safety is important. Guns have been the main cause of many incidents in which innocent victims have lost their lives. In the United States, 1 out 3 homes with kids have guns and approximately 1.7 million children live in homes with an unlocked, loaded gun. Having unprotected guns lying around is not only extremely dangerous, it can also lead to fatal accidents. Diane Dimond and David A. Fryxell both agree that adults who own guns need to be responsible about having guns in homes to protect their children and as a nation, we are accountable to open up a legitimate conversation regarding gun control. Having such a powerful weapon end up in the wrong hands will lead to devastating tragedies and can possibly destroy families.
