There are very few specialty stores in the United States so the use of a website will open a new business to web users to obtain gourmet foods delivered right to their doorstep. In staying with their specialty branding, Kindler’s executives and the sales and marketing department are enthusiastic about the use of the e-commerce website.
Detail Design
Kudler will need to implement an up-to-date server. We recommend that a server be purchased and the current one scrapped. The server will also need to run a more up-to-date version of the Windows operating system. I recommend Windows server either 2003 or 2008. I chose the Windows server edition because of the company’s already existing familiarity with the Windows server operating system. I also believe that learning the Linux operating system might slow down business operations and this is why in this situation a newer version of Windows would be a more reliable choice.

This statement indicates that there should be careful and deliberate choices when choosing a web server. Many different operating systems are available to use as a webserver. One of the most popular is Linux. Linux and UNIX are very reliable when it comes to security. Versions of Linux include Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS and Fedora. The advantages of Linux based web servers are easily modified, stable, and secure. Red Hat Linux is currently the best with regards to performance at large scale. UNIX is also a viable option when looking for an operating system. Comparable to Linux, it’s very reliable, easy to customize and secure as well. However, its hardware requirements and cost make it difficult to make it into a web server. Microsoft Windows Server operating systems are a very popular method for an operating system. Microsoft offers different versions of its server software including the 2003, 2008 and 2012 editions. The Microsoft platform is a great choice because most of the online applications are adaptable to use on their OS. Support for Microsoft is readily available as well, making it even harder to choose another OS. The only down sides are that it is not as secure as the previously mentioned Linux platform and because Microsoft uses licensing for their OS, it can be pricey to add to use for the system.

After reviewing the Kudler Fine Food network, a major network overhaul will need to bring the network up to par with the latest technology. If Kudler Fine Foods is not able to upgrade their systems then they will fall behind the technological curve and will not be able to compete with other companies. Kudler needs to do the upgrade not only to keep up with the advances with network systems but needs to install the proper systems to increase profits. If Kudler does not do constant upgrades then they will be forced to pay a larger amount for the larger upgrades in the future. In this paper we will evaluate the Kudler website and make some recommend some improvements. Most of the manufacturing in the organization is automated with the help of high end servers. These physical servers when are overloaded or when they are being used for longer period of time, tend to degrade and malfunction as their components start to fail and this would require replacing them with new ones. This will incur additional cost to the company if the server is not covered under manufacturer warranty or it has expired and is no longer in support by the manufacturer. Thus the organization is in need of virtualization of the physical servers to overcome these problems. The organization has been around for more than three decades and hence is using older applications that won’t run on newer hardware and the current hardware is about to degrade. So in order to save the company from such incidents that could result in major setback in manufacturing, virtualization of these servers is necessary. Another benefit of virtualizing the servers is that the resources such as CPUs, disk size, RAM size of the virtual servers can be increased if the load is too high on the server. This can be done on the fly, without creating an impact to the organization.
