The Better Business Bureau has implemented change as it relates to the point system of accreditation (Ferrell, Fraedrich & Ferrell, 2015). This change has allowed the organization to be grade each organization in a more uniform fashion. It is important for organizations to remain unbiased if their mission is service the public. Being fair and unbiased will always hold creditability versus not being fair and biased.

MODEL is uniquely focused on both, community and school based mentoring structures. Most mentoring programs focus on either community based or school based, not exactly both as it requires more resources, support, greater infrastructure, advanced mentorship knowledge and training. Programs such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) has molded ideas about mentor programs in general. BBBS is over a century old, community based mentor program that matches youth who are coming out of the juvenile court system with male or female adults in the community that will play positive role models and provide proper companionship. BBBS follows similar protocol when matching mentors to mentees, along with thorough screening beforehand. BBBS had started a school based program in limited communities around the U.S. in the early
Well-known companies with B Corp status include Etsy, Warby Parker, and Ben & Jerry’s. A B Corp status is a large stamp of approval influencing companies to become more socially and environmentally
Therefore, as BBBST works within a Eurocentric framework, it can thus be defined as rooted in anti-blackness and anti-indigineity. As Eurocentric ideals are clearly defined as ‘supreme’, they automatically discredit and devoice any other forms of life and success, thus when operating within the framework BBBST essentially molds children and youth into ‘ideal’ adults who mirror these same perceptions. Thus, the culture of anti-blackness and anti-indigienity continues to manifest within these organizations as institutional forms racism. BBBST conducted a study with CAMH in which one of their results were that ‘mentored boys are also two times less likely to develop negative conducts, such as bullying, fighting, lying, cheating, or expressing
Additionally, the Better Business Bureau file for Leaders Merchant Services shows that they also have 21 separate consumer reviews from people who have reported having negative experiences with them. This is in addition to their existing complaints. And the one last issue we want to mention is that the BBB website states that they reached out to Leaders Merchant Services regarding this negative pattern of allegations and asked what steps they were taking to correct and/or eliminate the underlying cause of this trend, but Leaders did not respond.
If you aren't in business, you may have no idea what the BBB is, but if you are, it is either something you love or are terrified of. The better business bureau is an organization that analyzes just about every single business that is in operation, regardless of how big or small they are. This gives other people an understanding of how reputable you are and whether or not they want to do business with you, which is why your score is incredibly important, despite whether you like the bureau or not. If you have shady business practices, engage in any sort of illegal activity that gets reported, or flat out do not do good business, your BBB score is going to suffer and anyone that wants to find that information is going to be able to find it. When business deals are made between several companies, the first thing they are going to do is look up their BBB score to size them up. A lot of places won't even talk to you if you have a low BBB score, which can be a great thing and can be a bad thing at the same time.
Businesses of today, are under no obligation or commitment to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation, which may cause problems for the business in the future. To be accepted or accredited by the Better Business Bureau, a business must take the time to apply for accreditation and it is at this point that business meets accreditation standards. This will include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve many of the customer’s complaints. Better Business Bureau must pay a fee for accreditation review/ monitoring and also for the support of BBB services to the general public. The Ratings that Better Business Bureau provides is a key element to protect business
The choreography of Bubsy Berkeley for this number in particular connects images of the men of the Depression-era going into and retuning from war with the stark contrast portrayed by pathetic phallasy, going into war like heroes and returning broken and war-torn men, with the number showing a particular siding with the war veterans who protested outside Washington D.C. to be greeted with tear gas under J. Edgar Hoover. The message of this number shows the working class and the upper class bonded by the same goal of winning the war and now after the war is over and the country is in economic turmoil, it is the duty of the country to join together in order to get out of this unfortunate situation to rid the country of the
The BBB is founded on the principles of self-regulation through conceptual guidelines of ethical behavior provide by the BBB itself. However, the case study paints a different picture of how ethical the BBB organization is as a whole. Taking a step back, I find the Better Business Bureau does, in theory, try to uphold standards at which each company participating can better serve their customers. Unfortunately, with the issues of unethical behavior presented throughout the case study, it is hard to determine if the BBB is a force for positive change or a force for selfish gain.
Some of the key concepts I learned this week were dramaturgy and ethnomethodology. Pg 115 Dramaturgy is a term used to “mean that social life is like a drama or stage play” (Henslin, 2014). Ethnomethodology is a term used to define “how people use commonsense understandings to make sense of life” (Henslin, 2014). Common sense understanding would be their “understanding of how the world operates and of how people out to act” (Henslin, 2014).

Firstly, the old system was prone to central tendency error. It had 13 rating levels and lacked a described evaluation criteria. As one can understand, if the rating scale is large and the different levels are not sufficiently explained, the evaluators will be more likely to evaluate less accurately. In the case, one can read that managers gave almost to everyone a B or a C,
