I have always known that I wanted to attend a top-tier university. The other details came later; the small size, the proximity to an urban hub, and my major itself. For a while, I was convinced that it would not happen; that I just wouldn’t get in. Now, I realize that I have an opportunity to do so. This is an opportunity I do not intend to waste.
When I began to look at colleges, Georgetown University immediately stood out. I want a values-based education, not just a knowledge-based education. I want to attend Georgetown University because it will give me the knowledge I need to help others, but will also provide the Catholic perspective that my upbringing has given me. As stated by the prompt, the McDonough School of Business prides
I would like to attend college because I want to be successful in life, I understand it is getting harder to get a job with only a high school diploma and it is sure to get worse. My goals for the future include getting into a college with a good teaching and mathematics program, this could give me a variety of jobs and I was speaking to someone and they told me that people are looking out for women who have a degree in mathematics which will help me to obtain a good paying job.
It feels like everyday I meet people who ask me what college I want to attend. I give them the usual list of colleges I wish to apply to, but when Hofstra University comes up, people ask me, “why do you want to apply to Hofstra University?” I say there are infinite reasons why I wish to go to Hofstra. The number one reason being that it is really close to home. Hofstra is an excellent school - one of the best schools in New York. Hofstra has over a 100 distinct majors and minors to choose from ranging from Biology to Engineering to American Studies. I plan to major in Biology, and Hofstra is the best for my major because it has resources to offer its students giving them hands on experiences. Being an AP student, I love to take arduous classes
I have fallen in love with UNCW after first-hand seeing it for myself last summer. I know a lot of alumni from UNCW and have heard nothing but positive things about the school, teachers, and its courses. I am interested in majoring marketing or business and UNCW excels in both of these areas for me. In addition, it provides many courses that assist me in meeting my goals for my career. I would love to attend UNCW because it is close to my hometown but also far enough to where I can be an independent. Not only do I believe the University of North Carolina Wilmington is the right fit for me and my future career but also has every aspect that I am looking for in a college. It has the perfect location, the perfect size, very affordable, and the
If I attend Villanova, I will make community a verb by getting involved through community service, athletics, and research. One project I am particularly interested in is Engineers Without Borders. I would like to help them in their goal of improving the quality of life in developing communities worldwide. It is not only a great travel opportunity, but I would also get to help people in need, and there’s nothing more rewarding than that. I am also interested in the Relay For Life event. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in America and my grandfather died from lung cancer when I was younger. If the cure was found, millions of lives would be saved. I would try my best to raise as much money possible to join the fight against it.
I have decided to apply to UNCW Honors College to excel in my studies and help me further my education. Being a part of the Honors College will help me in the future, as I plan to attend medical school. This is my second time applying to the UNCW Honors College. I am now a sophomore who has worked very hard to obtain good grades and a good GPA. My hard work has paid off as I made the Dean’s list this year. An expectation I hope to gain when being a part of the Honors College, is the one on one learning experience. In high school, I was enrolled in all AP courses, which were very small classes. I hope to have the same advantage in the honors courses. I also want to be in a group of all similar academic standings. In high school, I was in National
Two colleges I would like to attend is High Point University and UNC Pembroke. I would like to attend High Point because it is near both Winston-Salem and Greensboro. UNC Pembroke is also a great option to attend to because I noticed that the campus is closed off which will help in staying focus but it’s not as close to the city. My academic interest is in natural science involving biology but also math. My social interests is doing activities in the city in order to have a separation from campus life.
Western Oregon is a standard 4-year, medium sized college. It is located in the small, rural town of Monmouth, but only 10 miles from an urban city. Being primarily residential, Western Oregon brings a certain family vibe, which they claim you cannot find anywhere else. Many students say that their favorite part of Western Oregon is the size, since it gave them more one-on-one time with their professors. There are a total of eighty-three majors. Before financial aid and any scholarship money are entered the tuition is $8,274 for in-state students, while out-of-state student’s tuition is $21,759.
Being born and brought up in New Jersey, Rutgers always was known as a prestigious university. Rutgers is a place of opportunity. My brother who is a transferred into Rutgers last year, is always telling how the Criminal Justice program is amazing. He continuously tells me about the incredible classes he has had the pleasure of taking with professors such as Dr. Edem Avakame, Minteh, Shields and Adubato Associate Professor in the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice. Along with these professors, he has told me about his advisors, Lawanda Thomas and Alexandra Charles, who helped him as a transfer student adjust to being a new university student, along with showing him opportunities in networking within the Criminal Justice field by sharing news
When people hear the word “college”, many panic inside at the thought. But, when I hear the word “college” I think about Illinois State University. In early July, I attended an Open House at ISU for my very first official college visit. As I stepped onto campus, I couldn’t but help to feel like it was my future home. Many aspects of the tour made me draw nearer to choosing this college after finishing my High School career. Illinois State University seems to fit my personality very well, has an amazing program for what I want to study, and is an outstanding campus for my academic strengths and weaknesses.
In today’s extremely competitive, job-scarce economy, having a college degree is now a steadfast requirement when applying to even entry-level professional jobs. Choosing a college has always been a challenging task for high school seniors, but it is now fraught with stress and anxiety for nearly every adult who seeks to further their education. Questions abound: what school offers the exact program I desire? What school is in the best location, or has the best campus? What school feels ‘right’?
Very rarely one finds himself at the pinnacle of achievement by happenstance or good fortune, or by “winging it”. To succeed in life, one must set a goal, plan his or her route to obtain the said goal, and take the initiative to achieve it. I am a student who wants to take on the challenge of university in the most practical and ambitious manner. Simply applying for any school and attending it will hardly suffice. I have to budget my time, write good essays, apply for scholarships, network with students and professors, be dedicated to my dream, and get an internship to leverage my
Created by one of the most important men in America's history, The George Washington University is an institution with an impressive reputation and outstanding academics. Rooted in the city of Washington D.C., it offers unprecedented opportunities at research and internships. It is perched where the worlds of science, arts, and technology join together to forge new paths. It provides me an unrivaled opportunity to learn alongside world leaders, giving me a chance to participate in the world around me. If I go to George Washington, I will be part of a remarkable global community, aiming to change the world. I would be able to engage in important research in some of the most extraordinary facilities in the country. It would be an honor to attend
Westmont College is a small, liberal arts college located in the beautiful Santa Barbara, California. The college only offers bachelor’s degrees. Westmont is a standard four year college. They are nondenominational and encourage their students to live out a Christian life. They supply Christian-based studies. An interesting fact is that 78% of financial needs are met! Serious crime (per 1000 students per year) is a shocking 17.06, drug or weapon incidents are 2.22, and alcohol encounters are 14.83. Santa Barbara is considered a fairly safe place so seeing these statistics is quite surprising!
To attend Georgetown University has been my intent for as long as I can remember. More recently, as I've matured, my goal has become more specific‒ to be a student in the McDonough School of Business. I am motivated to study business at Georgetown University for three reasons‒ the core values of McDonough, the graduates that I know, and the professors that I know.
My mother is an elementary school teacher and my father is a mechanic for the United States Postal Service. Together, they have two biological children (my younger sister and I,) five adopted children (four of my brothers and one sister,) and one foster son, who will be adopted soon. However their generosity far exceeds their income and my family has been financially insecure for most of my life. With eight people living in our household the cost of the morgage, food, medical bills, and other expenses are high, especially for two people from middle class with modest income. Because of the high cost of living for my family, my parent's aren't able to pay for my college or take out a loan. I've been able to get some financial aid at my choice college, however, the whole cost isn't met.
