The amount of illegal immigration is a problem since many take advantage of the social services provided by the government without contributing towards the country since they are not citizens and many people see these illegal immigrants as a threat to their employment. The United States of America (USA) has been one of the traditional receiving countries of immigrants (Friedberg & Hunt, 1995), and they do not take in too lightly of allowing immigrants violate its law and entering illegally to settle in its country without consequences. To date, millions of people have violated its immigration policies. The USA is also the economic leader of the world. It has been the notion that illegal immigrants are devouring up the US economy and for that reason they should be ousted. The United States has people coming in and out of the country every day. Most of these people are welcomed at airports and borders, and most do not intend to stay in the United States. Some of these immigrants are tourists, business visitors, students, and foreign workers. Other arrivals are refugees because they are escaping to better their future or from their countries violence and some are unauthorized or illegal foreigners. Several immigrants enter legally as tourists and then stay in the United States, but most enter the country unlawfully by eluding border patrol agents or using false documents to circumvent border inspectors. In the past, the United States was formed from many immigrants whom the Founding Fathers were descendants from and made a powerful country. Immigration is positive for the United States because there are political, economic, and multicultural benefits; therefore, immigration policy should be reformed to allow and encourage immigration.

Mexicans are hard workers and often work for less pay than Americans are willing to accept. There are approximately 8 million illegal immigrants working in the United States. Mexicans are usually are employed in construction, natural resources, maintenance, production, transportation, farming, and moving material jobs. On average, an immigrant has a household income of approximately $37,390 compared to a natural born citizen’s average household income of $54,565. Many immigrants work harder than Americans and receive less pay. Hiring Mexicans can save American employers due to the fact they do not have to pay higher wages and do not have to provide benefits. Like American citizens, illegal immigrants may pay local, state, and federal taxes including sales tax that helps support government services that they may not be able to access (Ewing 9). Since more American citizens are becoming aware of the benefits of an education, openings are being created for illegal immigrants in low paying jobs (Nadadur 1037-1052). Americans, unlike illegal immigrants, have more diverse careers. Aliens are more concentrated in specific job areas, resulting in a decrease in immigrant labor cost. This helps boost the United States’ economy (Carter 777-795). Of the approximate eleven million illegal immigrants in the U.S., most work in labor intensive jobs. Careers such as construction and agriculture tend to attract illegal aliens and they account for about twenty-five percent of the work force in these areas (Ewing 9). Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve admits that illegal immigrants help improve the United States economy and does not suggest turning them away (qtd. in Quindlen 90). Anna Quindlen, in her article “Newcomers By Numbers,” agrees with Bernanke and believes that immigrants are the factor that helps keep prices low. She also adds that immigrants are not causing American citizens unemployment, but are simply taking the low wage jobs that citizens are not willing to do and even boosting the economy (90).

The United States of America is one of the most advanced countries around the world. It is a country full of opportunities where most of its citizens have a high standard of living unlike many other countries around the world. It is a country that ensures its citizens with “the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The qualities of this country are the leading cause for the increase in immigration. People from Mexico, Asia, Europe, South America and the rest of the world immigrate to the U. S. for reasons, such as freedom and the desire of a better life. Immigration is not a recent issue. There were thousands of immigrants coming into this country years ago. Immigration waves mostly began in the nineteenth century. However,

I was about eleven years old when my aunt got deported. She came here to have a better life, work and most of all be with family. About two years later after she got deported she died in Mexico because of health issues. She wouldn’t have died if she wasn’t deported because the U.S has more advanced medicines that could have helped her. Illegal Immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S.

Americans are robbing illegal immigrants, as they cross into the United States. Very few people who rob, beat or harass migrant workers are charged with more than a misdemeanor (Martinez). There is a problem here, but it is hard to protect people that are here illegally in the first place. Granted most of the migrant workers that cross the border illegally have no intention of breaking the law.

On June 2001, a substantial bipartisan majority in the Texas legislature nominated the Texas Dream Act, which Governor Perry signed to allow undocumented immigrants who were brought to Texas as children by their parents to pay in-state tuition at public colleges and universities if they graduated from high school or received a GED in the state. Available to those who have at least three years of residency and are seeking legal residency, this provision has benefited thousands of Texas students.

Those who already live in our environment illegally have not affected our society in any way, therefore,it should not be a big impact to those who want them deported. Donald Trump says , “Anyone who comes to the U.S illegally should be deported back to their home until they can legally file for U.S citizenship’’(Trump,2016). However, there is no proof that a file can change a person’s personality or way of being, therefore a file would not make such a big difference. Although, those who come into our state illegally might seem like a big impact to our society, they have suffered enough with not only separation from families but from starvation within itself.
