“Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world can live as one”. These are the lyrics to the song “Imagine”. This song was played after the tragic attacks on Paris on November 11, 2015. There is another story, though. Romeo then killed himself because he really thinks Juliet is dead. Juliet then awoke from her 42-hour sleep, which was caused by a potion she drank, and found her sweet Romeo dead. She then progressed to kill herself. Well Romeo’s mother, Lady Montague, was having heart problems and troubles living because her son had been banished. In the end, the poor woman could not handle it, and she passed away. Now, we must take a look at the total number of deaths in the Paris attacks. The total number of casualties was 128 people, with 200 injuries. These attacks occurred in six locations, with 5 being in Paris. These locations were the Stade de France, the Restaurant Le Petit Cambodge, the Rue de la Fontaine au Roi, the Avenue de la Republique, the Concert venue Bataclan, and the Restaurant La Belle Équipe. All of this was confirmed by French officials, the French government, and CNN. With plenty of casualties and tragic events like those experienced in Romeo and Juliet and Paris, we are sure to see many different reactions of the people. In both events, the people of the cities of Paris and Verona were afraid about all the fighting and deaths that occurred
Many have said that romance brings love and affection, but when taken to the extreme, it can lead to tragedy and despair. In the literary play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare created a tragedy protagonist, Juliet, whose tragic death “buries their parents’ strife” (Prologue). The eternal feud between Montague and Capulets restraints the love between Romeo and Juliet and ultimately lead to their death. Juliet’s death has many different factors, and it’s hard to determine the truly blame of Juliet’s death. In all the important characters, Lord Capulet refuses to listen to Juliet’s request, which result in Juliet’s death. In the other hand, Romeo’s immature, impulsive and Friar Lawrence’s cowardice are all generate Juliet’s tragedy.
SAMPSON A dog of that house shall move me to stand. I will take the wall of any man or maid of Montague’s.
While dwelling in Mantua Romeo catches word of Juliet’s sudden “death” and leaves his place of exile. Heartbroken he goes to an apothecary to purchase poison that will kill him instantly. After getting the poison he returns to Verona to kill himself beside Juliet in the Capulet monument. Yet Paris is in his way; Paris thinks Juliet has “died” of grief because Romeo killed her cousin Tybalt. Paris therefor tries to fight Romeo because of his love for Capulet’s daughter, Juliet, hence proving the theme. Paris however fails to succeed against Romeo. Romeo them slays Paris so he can make his way to the tomb of Juliet, his wife whom he still loves. Romeo then enters the Capulet tomb and drinks the vile of poison from the apothecary which kills him instantly. Juliet suddenly awakes and upon seeing Romeo dead, although she is confronted by Friar Laurence, she takes his dagger, and she forces the blade into herself because she believes life is not worth living without there being her Romeo to love and
Both Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, and Luhrmann’s film, Romeo + Juliet, explore the idea of conflict and how it inevitably leads to tragedy. Although situated in the contrasting social and historical contexts of Elizabethan England and the modern world of Verona Beach in Southern California, 1990s, the two texts both represent how conflict directly leads to tragedy by conveying that, the fight between the Montague and Capulets was depicted as long going and did not have meaning anymore yet the two Lords pride shields them from stopping it, the neglectfulness of the individuals from each house prolonged the battle unnecessarily, and that Juliet and Romeo's knowledge of the conflict between their families drove them to conceal their relationship.
In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Benvolio said, “Alas, that love, so gentle in his view,/ Should be so tyrannous and rough in proof!”(1.1.165-166) Benvolio suggests that love seems nice, peaceful, and innocent, but in reality it can be disastrous and even deadly. Young lovers defy their families’ long-established vendetta and jeopardize all they have to continue their relationship. The violent commotion between the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, finally bring peace to their feuding families, with their own death. Like with many suicide cases, there are challenges and decisions being made that lead up to this decision. Often times, we question who contributed to the suicide. Regardless, others argue that Romeo and Juliet should be held accountable for their ultimate decision. Then again, there is no definite reason to assign fault to Romeo and Juliet. Not only are their brains not fully developed, but pressures from outside forces caused such stress within the relationship.
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, many characters meet their tragic end as a result of a plethora of factors, from old rivalries to new love. It is a tragic story of two lovers, destined to complete each other, but also to end a bitter feud through their deaths (Prologue.3-6). However, if the blame had to be ascribed to one person in particular, that person would be Romeo Montague. Throughout the play, Shakespeare showcases Romeo’s irrationality and poor decision making, leading to the gruesome deaths of his loved ones. Romeo is most to blame for the tragic slew of deaths because he is oblivious, quick to act, and too urgent in his relationship.
