The setting of the play is stated by the prologue; “Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona(where we lay our scene),”(Prologue,1-2) The play is set in a region called Verona as stated and it also states two households, both alike in dignity so the play is in houses or mainly in houses. Verona is the location of the play in two households because the prologue states it. 2.) The prologue foreshadows events in the play. The prologue foreshadows in this section; “From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life; Whose misadventur’d piteous overthrows Doth with their death bury their death bury their parents’ strife.”(Prologue,5-8) That there is love between two individuals which is very significant in the play. The star-cross’d lovers seem to be dead in the end as it states they will be taking their lifes which indicates to suicide. This foreshadow can correlate to the last line which foreshadows the main conflict or parts of the main conflict by the indicated suicide may be the cause of this problem or conflict the play. Benvolio, Romeo’s cousin, attempts to stop the fight but is drawn into the fray by Tybalt, kinsman of the Capulets. More citizens become involved and the fight escalates rapidly and soon the heads of both household appear on the scene. The riot is stopped when Prince Escalus arrives and forbids anymore outbreaks of violence on pain of death.

Like with many suicide cases, there are challenges and decisions being made that lead up to this decision. Often times, we question who contributed to the suicide. Regardless, others argue that Romeo and Juliet should be held accountable for their ultimate decision. Then again, there is no definite reason to assign fault to Romeo and Juliet. Not only are their brains not fully developed, but pressures from outside forces caused such stress within the relationship.
