Men’s Health Network (MHN), http://www.menshealthnetwork.org, is a nonprofit organization reaching out to males and their families focusing on the growing health crisis that affect the premature mortality of men (Men’s Health Network, 2014). MHN website navigation is user friendly with headings at the top of the web pages that are identical on every page. The font utilized is clear, easy to read, and not strenuous on the eyes. All links in headings are operational and link phrases are clearly described to target page. MHN security link states commitment to ensuring user privacy and that any information collected is used only in accordance to the November 2012 policy (Men’s Health Network, 2014). MHN informs that the website will request permission to place “cookies” on user’s computer. The term “cookie” is defined and gives the user informed consent. MHN clearly states that clicking links to partnerships and outside sources link takes the user away from MHN site and states, “we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement.” (Men’s Health Network, 2014). Empirical evidence Building credibility for a website requires providing links to reputable organizations which increase traffic, thereby increasing its relevance in search outcomes (Calabro, 2010). MHN achieves this with a banner containing links to other organizations for the reader to get additional information, but the sites that the reader is linked to do not always reciprocate a link back. Calabro (2010) suggests that updating the home page
Per the week one assignment, I have reviewed and compared two Websites offering information on the same subject. My chosen subject is kidney disease and hemodialysis and the source Websites are: The National Kidney Foundation (http://www.kidney.org) and The Merck Manual-Professional (http://www.merckmanuals.com/professional).
The United States revolution is one of the most iconic events in not just American, but world history. So when performing research on a platform as vast as the internet, proper precautions must be taken. A well designed and thorough web evaluation should be done to ensure the credibility and integrity of the website’s content. Certain Criteria involve who authored the website, when the website was created, when it was last updated, who the website was intended for, what types of resources the website offers, and the sites overall value to the reader.

Using the example above, after receiving the LWEC rating from OWCP this individual receives 20% raise, which equals $317.00 per month. FECA regulations provide that an increase of income reach a 25% threshold in order to adjust a LWCE rating. In light of the LWEC rating, this individual earns significantly more than their peers. For this example, we will presume this Letter Carrier is age 40, with 16 years to work to meet their minimum retirement at age 56. The aforementioned example reveals an additional $60,864 in wages over the employee’s work-life that will subsequently be charged back to the agency, as the result of not adjusting the LWEC rating,
Mittman was correct in his predictions. Patient education, compliance, and support programs have been merged on the Internet. Psychosocial support groups, disease specific research, physician and provider assessment, information about alternative medicine, educational video and animation programs, and patient self-care support tools, such as software that tracks diet and issues reminders to take medications, have been integrated to disease-specific forums. Some are sponsored by health plans or providers, while others will be led by patient groups. The bandwidth has increased, adding the home and workplace to places of availability. Online support groups have added new media choices beyond the simple text messaging (chat). People are now able to do video-mediated support
They also review health and illness related websites and create a link for service users. This ensures that users are able to access other websites to help them create a wider understanding on healthy eating. UK sites are the primary links in the web directory, as the company feels that residents in the UK prefer to obtain health information from UK sources (patient.co.uk 2010).
The America Psychology Association website is geared to both medical professionals and individual users like myself. The website is APA.org which means that the website is ran by an organization, usually non-profit, not a commercialized company. At first glance, what I notice is a clear lay out and tabs, at the top of the page, offering information such as: Topics, News & Events, Education, Careers and Membership. The content is easy to see and the colors are pleasing to the eye.
The Mayo Clinic medical directory is easy to use and provides up to date information on diseases and symptoms put together by top notch MD’s on the editorial staff (3). These highly notable disease indexes landed the website a spot in Time Magazine’s “50 Best Websites 2010”. Mayo Clinic’s original material sets the company apart from other encyclopedic websites like WebMD and Healthline which do not have the simplistic navigation Mayo Clinic offers(4,5). WebMD and Healthline do not offer easy to understand explanations for the diseases listed. Mayo Clinic utilizes over 40% of the company’s resources for research rather than just medical practice. The teams of doctors that are putting together the information on the website are highly skilled in many different areas of medical study.

Advances in technology, computer systems and internet enabled nursing professionals to access medical and nursing databases and health information for practice, education and research. Each of them serves different purposes and intended for a variety of audiences, from scholars to general population. The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast a scholarly article with an internet resource, on a health topic relevant to
Patient.info uses persuasion to reassure their audience that they know what they are talking about. They make the claim “How can we help?”. Stating that they have the answers that their audience seeks. They also have an easy to use layout and photos that are easily relatable too. Such as, a female running, associating the idea of being healthy and a man who is seemingly depressed showcased with a link to find help and information about depression. Having the gender specific in these photos can help to reach specific target audience members who may not feel compelled to seek help or afraid that they are the only ones experiencing this type of problem. The Jama network site uses a completely different type of persuasion. It is trying to persuade professionals to come and seek the newly released medical information. Showcasing that it has newly published works available to read. Their website is designed clean cut, no fancy layout, making things easy to find and navigate while not being overly

The internet has become a frequently used source for women to look up information related to pregnancy and maternal health [1]. Private and governmental web sited are providing information to these women. There are also many mobile applications that focus on women’s health [2]. However, the quality, usability and reliability of these applications and websites are often questionable. Women use search engines to answer their questions, often comparing answers from multiple sources. When these sources contradict each other, it can be hard to know which source to trust [3].
