Many of the things they created or improved on are essential to our daily lives and we’d live totally differently if it wasn’t for them. The Romans were responsible for spreading Latin, creating the base for modern law, spreading Christianity, and creating a modern infrastructure.

Many historians believed it was their superior military technology, their great strong willed people, or their brilliante leaders. Some policies and institutions of the Roman Republic were useful to help them succeed in conquering first Italy and then the Mediterranean world. Before of the institution of the republic, the romans were a monarchy since their beginning and they were basically a pastoral people. Rome suffer several changes and improvements under the control of the Etruscan kings. The Etruscan were civilization settled north of Rome in Etruria, and they once had control over almost all the Italic peninsula. The Etruscans influences in Rome were profound, they transformed Rome from a pastoral community to a city (91). The Etruscan built the street and roads that help the development of temples, markets, shops, streets, and houses. They basically brought urbanization to Rome. It is fairly to say that the Rome republic was a fusion between the elements of the Etruscan civilization and the Rome elements. The combination of the different political institutions and policies made the Romans succeed in their conquest territories.

Rome was one major empire that has ever existed in time. It started as a republican empire, but as time went by, it became an actual empire. Many events, philosophies, and emperors lead Rome to be an empire. One idea lead Rome to its terrible era to being a successful turns of events. Religion became an important philosophy that all Romans started to believe in. As new religious beliefs spread throughout Rome. The past events leads Rome to their new religious beliefs.

They had the weapons and equipment. Rome had the geography, the transport, communication, knowledge, and most importantly, the people, all working in their favor. This paper will take a look at how Rome became the most powerful empire of all time, and what caused its downfall.

In my opinion, the success in the building of the trading between provinces and the growth of the Roman economy are found in three parts, 1) Slavery, 2) Roads, and 3) Trading. Through the development of trading in other provinces, the creation of roads and the business of slavery, the growth of the Roman economy grew by leaps and bounds. The process of growth set the example for economic growth for other countries and states for years to come.
