pH=-log10[H+]    ...(1) 

The stronger acid has a lower value of pH and it indicates that the acid enhances the concentration of hydrogen ions. Similarly, the concentration of hydroxide ions in an aqueous solution is furnished in pOH scale. The relation between the hydroxide ion concentration and pOH is expressed as follows:

pOH=-log10[OH-]   ...(2)

Notably, the two parameters such as pH and pOH are related as follows: 

pH+pOH=14    ...(3)
