Explain the fundamental shift in the focus of quality from the Industrial Revolution through the turn of the century (2000).
The main focus on quality throughout the Industrial Revolution was inspection-based quality control. This method depended on identifying and discarding defective goods as soon as they were manufactured, and inspectors were primarily in charge of doing this since they would visually assess goods for flaws. The presumption was that the remaining items would be of acceptable quality if faulty ones could be found and eliminated.
The emphasis on quality, however, underwent a significant change in the beginning of the 20th century. The emphasis changed from relying on inspection-based quality control to preventing problems from developing in the first place. This innovative strategy, known as process-based quality control, was founded on the notion that quality should be integrated into a process rather than simply examined.
