Question

What is the difference between H+ and H-?

Expert Solution
Hydrogen atom

The atomic number of hydrogen is 1 , this atom has 1 proton and 1 unpaired electron.

Essentially hydrogen atom is made up of one proton that is present in the nucleus, it does not have electrons like other atoms, the electron is removed in this case to get H+. This is the reason why H+ most of the times is called a proton.

On the other hand H- is called hydride ion.
