We’ve made great advances in the last century, innovating at an astonishing speed. But unfortunately, it seems as if in the last decade, the rate of innovation has slowed down considerably. Every new product is just an iteration of the last iteration, with no defining jumps in technology but only incremental changes. With the snail-paced recovery of the economy and a looming global warming crisis, America needs more engineers if it wants to stay the dominant nation that it is today and if it wants to make sure that the future of its children is safe, prosperous, and pollutant-free. None too often it is the small ideas from engineers that create sparks in the economy and keep this great nation of ours going. As distinguished professor Michael Schiffer would say, engineers have “the ability to symbolize technological prowess and modernity” (4). I plan on joining this distinguished group of innovators. I want to become a professional electrical electronics engineer, to acquire the knowledge and the skills to be able to run my own consumer electronics company one day; Becoming a professional electrical electronics engineer will allow me to work on providing clean energy for my parents’ hometown of New Takoradi.

A welders life is a tough life because your always gone from your family.
When I get older and advance in my career, I would like to be a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician is a health care provider who provides pharmacy related functions to people who need medication. We can also work for long-term facilities, third party insurance companies and pharmaceutical manufactures. A pharmacy technician job is never an easy job. Maybe one day I could even become a Pharmacist. A pharmacist is the person who writes prescriptions, knows what drug a client needs and can diagnose a person. Where on the other hand, a pharmacy technician works under them. We give out and sort the medication. A pharmacy technician cannot diagnose a patient. I plan to work hard and get my certifications to get to where they are so I will be able to diagnose people and have that title.

As was pointed out in the video, students from all over the world are coming to the US to obtain their education, whether that education is in the field of medicine, technology, engineering, etc. This strengthens the United States position in the education marketplace, but at the same time, the end result is strengthening the potential of so many countries as those students take the knowledge they have acquired back home and utilize that education to improve their countries global position. As states above, the duties and job requirements of this career can vary. A sharp mind, knowledge of the equipment, and a creative mind are necessities as an energy technician.
