“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela. Just by reading this quote, I agree with this statement because only the educated can free their selves. The reason why I agree with this statement because education opens your eyes to see the opportunities ahead of you. For instance, in “A homemade education,” Malcolm X decided to copy the dictionary because he saw it as an opportunity to improve his vocabulary and his handwriting. This shows that you shouldn’t waste a chance to learn something new, or you will never see it again. Another reason why I agree with this statement because many people can use their education to get out of problematic and pitiless situations. I remember watching a YouTube
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” These are words spoken by Nelson Mandela that I strongly agree with.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” Mandela, N (n.d.)
In Martin Luther King Jr’s quote, he exposes that education teaches a person to think intensively and to think critically. One of the author’s main ideas is to tell people that education is able to make people intensively to what they do, because this is a way to make you success in college. On the another side, education is to teach one to think critically is mean that people have to learn what they mistake on, so they are able to change their mistake and become a better person. Education helps people to get the job they want, to desire and achieve their goal and make their own personal character. The real education goal is to encourage people to learn, and to use the knowledge in order to become an intelligence person, and to build their
The belief that an education is valuable when it is used to serve your community was instilled in me at a very young age. Growing up in a small village in Nigeria, West Africa, I was surrounded by an African culture with a rural rustic lifestyle. I saw poverty, sickness, death and suffering on a daily basis. I learned to build deep relationships with people of all age groups; from kids who were my playmates, to moms whose babies I helped care for, and grandmas cooking over firewood or selling in market stalls. I learned to value and treat all people with respect, appreciate them, and to always take the time to help others.
While looking for a new meaning of life, people usually step on new perspectives which never appeal to them as solutions to their problems. The American Muslim minister and human rights activist Malcolm X describes his life of learning how to write and read during his time time in prison and his reinvention process in his article “A Homemade Education”. The author was was due to his lack in ability to literacy, so he starts to reinvent his abilities in order to improve himself. Similarly, mystery writer Barbara Graham argues her tendency of easily wanting to quit things as an addicted behavior in her essay “Confession of A Quit Addict”. Both authors suffer somehow during their life time and then realize the true self. It takes
“Education is education. We should learn everything and then choose which path to follow. Education is neither Eastern nor Western, it is human.”
In todays Education, many students struggle to fit in and succeed. With the way that current education is, it seems that it has been created for students to fit into a certain box, and if they do not fit into this box; they will not succeed in school. Homemade education would help students find different ways to thrive in school. A different form of education then the norm would be better then standardized education because homemade education would help minority students succeed, create more creativity despite circumstances in schools, and allow for change and growth in education.
Nelson Mandela once said, “ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Knowledge is the foundation of education, and the tool people need to bring about a difference in the way the world thinks. Mandela is best known for working to free the blacks in South Africa by battling peacefully for the rights of the people. After years of personal sacrifice fighting for independence and racial equality, he was voted president and changed South Africa by allowing blacks and white to vote in government elections and for bringing people of different races
Education has been a very controversial issue over the years and has been becoming an increasing topic for discussion. Many people will say a formal education is the only way to get anywhere in life while others claim that with soaring college prices, the education might not actually be worth it. Molly Knefel, author of “Incarceration vs. Education,” stated in her article “Americans believe that education is the great equalizer, the key that opens the door to a better future.” A proper education is vital in order to become successful in life. However, this education does not have to be in a formal setting such as high school or college. Knowledge is everywhere and life is filled with lessons we try to grasp as we try and fail during our teen years. It is important to try many things because this is what teaches us our valuable life lessons. It is also crucial that we remind ourselves we are in charge of our own success and we take the responsibility to educate ourselves. Through all of this we must remember that failure is inevitable and we must think of this failure as a lesson rather than a downfall.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela. An undisputed leader of all Africans has just gave us a a small glimpse of how powerful education can be. As every corner of the world progresses and develops through globalization, there are more “educated” people in the world than ever before. However, is the “most powerful weapon” being used correctly? I believe not. Public education is one of the best inventions of the modern era. Regardless of sex, race, or money, everyone is given the same education. Genius. Education thrived for who knows how long, but now we have today. Things are seemingly going downhill and getting worse. Like a snowball gaining speed and size
“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”- Malcolm X
which you can use to change the world". Education to me is like a telescope to an
Education has been the most important factor in the transformation of the world since the birth of mankind. Education has been the key to our evolution as man in this world; we have learned a lot of things about this world that we didn’t know, also education play huge role in the transformation that happens in our different societies and communities. Our societies need people to move them forward with good education, good values and also good morals not with brainwashing and false ideologies.
Nelson Mandela one said, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.” Education is not just a term to explain a process of getting instructions. Instead, education is extremely essential procedure in one’s life to have this weapon as explained by Mandela. As individuals we tend to learn from life experiences and events that go on around us. We not only learn about how to become successful in life instead we learn how to make a living as we encounter new individuals and new life lessons that teach us whether how to cook, clean, or even how to do math. A person cannot only be educated if they have a degree instead we all are educated in some unique manner whether it is to sew, draw, sing, or even as a doctor which helps us complete our given task. School is an institution created to discipline and educate students in order to become more knowledgeable. Many individuals in history and even people now attend school as it has become a crucial part in our society just like how other places such as hospitals and stores have in order to meet the needs of the society’s members. Many individuals believe that school is not an essential aspect in life that helps one grow because of how they are being educated, in which John Gatto is one of them as well. Even though no school is the best for everyone, it is still needed to help an individual grow emotionally, intellectual, and socially into a contributing member of society.
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world," and I find this to be an exceedingly motivating and inspirational remark. Growing up in less than optimal conditions and living through many disconcerting situations, I have found myself using these experiences to drive myself to make a mark in the world and let my voice be heard. Education has proven itself to be the most successful route I have found in being able to truly fit in and finally grow as a person, which has, in turn, influenced me to leave my mark on society.
