What is an ecosystem?
I claim that an ecosystem has lots of abiotic and biotic factors that interact.
My biome is the Taiga. One place the Taiga can be found is Oslo,Norway. Some abiotic factors in the Taiga are rain, sunlight, soil, temperature, and wind. Some biotic factors are moose, black bears, wolves, moss, and pine trees. Those abiotic and biotic factors interact a lot. There are four levels of organization. They are species, population, community, and ecosystem. An ecosystem is all the biotic and abiotic factors in a specific place. An example of a ecosystem in the Taiga is spruce trees, pine trees, mushrooms, owls, and bears. Those are only a few of the abiotic and biotic factors that make up the Taiga.
What interactions exist
A biome is a large area or habitat that occupies the earth. Animals, plants along with flora and fauna occupy biome habitats. They cleverly adapt to their environment and geographical location. The area that I have chosen to research are the Flinders Ranges. The Flinders Rangers are in South Australia, covering 37,000 square kilometres. The biome expands from Crystal Brook in the south to Mount Hopeless in the north. There are several main general features associated with this semi-arid biome. The alpine biome is a biome high in the mountains with trees, rivers, lakes and etc. This the biome where the Himalayas, the Rockies, the Andes, and even Mount Everest! But now because of human actions, some animals are now endangered. You will learn a lot about the alpine when you finish reading this.
Plants are found everywhere on earth, up high on the ridge and down low in caves and caverns. The types of plants that live in these places depends on many factors. These factors are separated into two different categories, the biotic factors and the abiotic factors. Some of the biotic factors include, predation, competition, and habitat destruction. An ecosystem is a community of interacting organisms and their environment. If one of the organisms is disturbed, it can change the trophic cascade which is a sequence of impacts down the food chain. Hannibal supports this statement by writing “keeping these connections going ensures healthy, functioning ecosystems, which in turn support human life.”(578) An example of this is if all of the beavers died the other organisms would go somewhere else or die due because they no longer will have dams to support their ideal habitat.

In the ecosystem organisms rely on each other for food and protection. The Food chain is like a pyramid you have the producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers, and quaternary consumers. It’s an almost perfect balance and if any level were to just stop existing then the food chain would be destroyed. An example of organisms relying on others is an issue of isle royale were the wolves and moose population are in jeopardy. This relationship is important because without the other animal the population would die.
A biome is a large area filled with complex fauna and flora communities that are created and maintained by its climate. The characteristics that go into defining a biome are mostly abiotic factors. It is important to understand that when we say that ecology includes the “environment”, we are talking about everything that is external to an organism, all the biotic and abiotic. Nowadays it also attempts to understand and explain the how and why of the origins and mechanisms of interactions.
The Aquatic biome is the most significant out of all of the five biomes. Water is essential and important for life here on Earth. It’s what we all need in order to survive. Water also supports life, and many different species live in it, or for some parts of their life. Since water covers one-thirds of the Earth, the temperature of the aquatic biome tends to be humid and slightly cool. It is fairly constant so it can be able to tolerate life.
