An employment relationship describes the dynamic, interlocking economic, legal, social and psychological relations that exist between individuals and their work organizations. Factors that impact on this relationship both have a detrimental effect to the running of a business. I will focus on two internal and two external. These being:
Internal - Collective Bargaining:

The benefits to the employer mirror those of the employee. Health and safety at work act 1974 also impacts on working time and breaks.

Working Hours
A worker’s working time, including overtime, shall not exceed an average of 48 hours for each seven days. It is currently possible for workers to sign a written agreement to opt out of the 48 hour weekly maximum. The agreement to opt out can be ended by the worker giving notice in writing. Under the Working Times Regulations 1998 the length of the notice required to opt out cannot be for a period of less than seven days or more than three months. Health and safety at work act 1974 also impacts on working time and breaks giving both parties time to recharge not being over tired. The employer has a more productive workforce if it they are not over worked.

Night working
The rights covering night working are governed under Working Times Regulations 1998, PART II RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS CONCERNING WORKING TIME, section 6. A night worker’s normal hours of work shall not exceed an average of eight hours for each 24 hours. The period must be 7 hours long and be within the period of midnight to 5am. Night works regulations stop employees over working and becoming tired. They also allow businesses to continue to trade through the night.
