The post-Civil War, also known as the extended period that came to be known as the Gilded Age, was largely centered around and influenced by big business and corporations. The newfound efficiency of resources and mass production resulted in a wide variety of available products but also a wide divide between classes and a misdistribution of power that led to the forming of unions and passing of anti-trust legislation. Big business employed money and power to control and manipulate the economy and politics to their own advantage through dishonest means and exploitation of poor immigrants. The Civil War was fought from April 12th 1861 to the spring of 1865 in the United States. During the civil war, 62,000 men died fighting in the civil war. It is known for being the most bloodiest war fought in the U.S. The question to this war is, how did it the Civil War start? What were the reason to go to battle and fight each other inside the U.S. The biggest concern about the Civil War was that the Union and the Confederacy had different views of seing how to run their side.

LOAD THE CANNONS! BOOM! BANG! CRACK! AHHH! MARCH! FIRE! BOOM! RETREAT! This is what you would probably here in the Civil War monthly. But why did we have a civil war? What is a civil War? Good Question. I'm here to answer them. But first let's talk about what it was. It was a war in the United States of America about the North and South. America was splitting up side vs side. The Union vs The Confederates. Now back to why everything got messed up and had a war and a half million lives lost. The United States of America had a Civil War because slavery, sectionalism, and disagreements about compromises.

Before the civil war began slaves in the United States had neither rights nor liberties. This would be particularly true in most southern states. The movement of the civil rights began slightly before the civil war had ended. Written by President Lincoln the Emancipation Proclamation was a small but undoubtable first important step, towards giving African American slaves freedom. Aimed towards the states that seceded from the union and which still contained slavery, this document was meant to free those slaves. And in turn allow them to enroll in the union army. With this added strength to the union, the south had no choice but to surrender. Although slavery did not completely end, it did give them the liberty to fight towards the common goal of freedom.

“It [drove] a deeper wedge between the northern and southern wings of both political parties,” states Robert Kagan (Document 2B). The Civil War occurred because the nation was divided. Some of the divisions were caused by their distinct economies. In addition, they were politically divided by their opposing views. Throughout the 1850s, tension began to increase because of these differences, eventually leading to the Civil War. The two most influential differences that eventually led to the Civil War were the North and the South had diverse economies and opposing political views on slavery.

Have you ever loved something so much that you would do anything to protect it? That is what the Texans did to protect Texas. There are lots of interesting things that went down in the Civil War… two interesting facts of the civil war are: John Brown tried to start slaves again by attacking at Harper's Ferry, and Governor Houston refused to take the loyalty oath so then he was forced to resign. So why did Texas fight? Texans fought to protect their country because, they wanted to protect slavery, for their love of Texas, and the states rights.

In the 1800’s people wanted to end slavery, but people had different ideas of how to free them. Some wanted to take an aggressive action and others thought it would be better to be peaceful about it. The historical question states what was the most effective way to free slaves in the US before the civil war: nonviolence or more aggressive action. Some might disagree because they believe that if you don’t follow the 10 commandments then god will be upset. I believe that the most effective way to free slaves was to have a nonviolence action.

Many people think that the Civil War was fought only because of slavery. Could other things have contributed to the cause of war? The Civil War was a four year battle between the Union and the Confederacy. There were many events that may have helped lead America in the war. These events include: economic issues, cultural and social issues, and political issues.

After declaring their independence from the Spanish Empire and (later) the Mexican Empire, the United Provinces of Central America experienced problems in their government. For years, the Assembly had been dissolved three different times and four Presidents were exiled. Despite the chaos, many Central Americans wanted to remain united; however, it wasn't enough to keep people at bay. The civil war began during the Mexican-American War in 1846. [b][SUBJECTED TO CHANGES][/b] The United States of America saw Central America as an opportunity to invade from the south, causing the Mexican army to move back... [b][SUBJECTED TO CHANGES][/b] Once the civil war ended, the United Provinces began repairing the damages with help from the Americans.

When examining defining moments in history, one must first analyze what led to the central event. In this case, one sees that the years following the American Revolution were very important to the historical timeline. During the 19th century, two regions with very different beliefs strongly contradicted each other. This plagued the nation, ultimately leading to the decimating battle of The Civil War. It is evident that the rapid expansion of slavery during this time unfolded and ignited a series of controversies that were evident in the political, economic, and social problems that slavery’s expansion created.

In the mid-1800s, North and South of the United States started a war with each other known as the Civil War. It all began with the attack on Fort Sumter on April 12th 1861. It was the bloodiest and saddest war in American history. The tension between the North and the South started to grow rapidly because their unity was replaced by sectionalism. The South slowly started to secede from the Union because of numerous reasons such as slavery and Abraham Lincoln.

The states rights, the Fugitive slave act, and how the line could not totally hold in which states would be totally free, these slaves had it harsh but the only way to freedom was to the north. Some helping slave made a place to be free and help to get there like the underground railroad. States rights made it so these slaves could have that idea of freedom and liberty in this country. Some abolitionist wanted to free the slaves by peaceful means and some like John Brown did not think so and sought violence to be the key to freedom for these slaves. In 1859 John Brown led an attack on Harper's Ferry, an ammunition camp, he captured this camp and he saw that the only way to free slaves was guns and violence. After he captured the camp and armed some slaves he had to fight a militia and lost, he was hanged three days later. Many things happened because the idea of freedom in the south and slaves mind, especially the underground railroad growing and helping more slaves become free, but sometimes there was no help and so the slaves organized rebellions, one such huge one was Nat Turner's rebellion. Nat’s rebellion was a brutal rebellion, of slaves, going house to house killing plantation owners and freeing more slaves as they went. But as all rebellions end in defeat, there was no revolution and they lost leaving a

H.L.Mencker once said, “The American People, North and South, went into (Civil) war as citizens of their respective states, they came out as subjects… what they thus lost they have never got back.” April 12, 1861, was the day an unavoidable war was started, the Civil War (The Civil War Begins). The dispute over slavery was an ongoing issue between the North and South since as early as 1858. As the controversy between the North and South continued over slavery continued, the south had discussion about secession. When delegates from the slave states meant, the “Ordinance of Secession” declared that “ Union was now subsisting between South Carolina and other states, under the name of the United States of America, is hereby dissolved.”

The North and South felt like it was necessary because they couldn’t come up with a civil solution. After the civil war in 1865 reconstruction was the national effort to reintegrate the north and south so they could work together as one nation without slavery.
