In Lord of the Flies written by William Golding the corruption of the once innocent boys' developed agresively. Ralph, a cunning and socially attractive boy, is the first chief chosen by the rest of the boys on the island and tries his hardest to be a good leader. Piggy, a smart and unnacepted outcast of the group, tries his hardest to fit in and figure thins out on the island. Sam and Eric, two twins who act as one whole person, think a lot alike. Jack Merridew, a strict and harsh savage, becomes a devious ring leader and destroys the good on the island. Roger, a mysterious follower to Jack, helps destroy thinngs on the island. Simon, the first to see the Lord of the Flies, is murdered by Jack. The Littluns, the youngest souls on the island, are also in the mix of the corruption on the island. Because of Ralph's strict orders and obvious authority Jack leaves and his tribe corrupt themselves. With their prowwes of indefatigable evil, they kill Simonand the innocent parachutist. Jack and his huntersattack Ralph, Piggy, Sam, and Ericand take Piggy's specs. Piggy, wanting to confront them, ends up dying trying to talk to them and convince them of their wrong doing. When they capture Same and Eric they put them at Castle Rock to guard Jack and his hunters, where Sam and Eric warn Ralph of the huntershunt for Ralph the next day. This proves that at the end of the book the boys on the island were indefinately corrupted. This corruption of chaacter in the boys also proves that their innocence was taken away. Although children are usually portrayed as innocent, the island possesed the childrens purity, Throughout the book, the boysget worse and lack their humanity. I think that the tragedy in the book made the boys feel as though they had to mature and forget their youthful
