Is it fear to say that money makes the world go around? Deceased rapper, Biggie Smalls said it best, “The more money you make the more problems you get”. With all the chaos and corruption that we hear about or some even must experience, all most individuals really want is a normal but happy and fulfilling life; one filled with love, contentment, satisfaction and peace. According to Wikipedia, happiness is defined as a “mental or emotional state of well-being which can defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy”. Now don't get me wrong, everyone's definition of happiness may be different but most are on or in the chase for happiness. For example, there have been many articles stating that money may be linked to a person’s happiness which has heightened one’s wellbeing.

Can money buy happiness though? I don’t believe there is a no or yes answer to this question. But it also all depends on the person’s personality and their view on what makes them happy. Most people lust for companionship, love and just belonging, money on the other hand is very important as well and if one has access to it than it can reduce some stress which can in fact lead to having an increase of happiness. In the Pursuit of Happiness, Kesebir and Diener mentioned, “Happiness leads to better health, better work performance, better social relationships, and more ethical behavior” (Kesebir & Diener, 6). A person who is happy, does show that in their performance whether it’s at work, home or school. Their attitude is positive, along with their physical wellbeing, and the relationships that have with others. But on the flip side of all this happiness, we all go through downfalls and suffer from experiences that don’t bring on happy feelings. The loss of a job, the death of a loved one, a failed relationship are circumstances that we all must endure and circumstances we find ourselves in at. But how long do we suffer? How long do these feelings exists? Even positive experience we go through the same occurrence, that first home you purchased, even winning a large amount of money from the lottery or finally nailing the love of your life.
