Establishing an Effective Electronic Commerce Project Team

Abstract
Fifty years ago, the concept of social media, cell phones, and the Internet was just being developed. Today, these types of technology are being utilized in all aspects of life. About 40% of the world’s population has access to the Internet that is roughly 3.1 million people (Internet Live States). With so many users able to access the Internet, social media is becoming a popular feature among enterprise ecommerce project teams. In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of effective project teams; the use of virtual teams within electronic commerce projects, and the affects social media has on electronic commerce project teams. The purpose of this report is to encourage the use of social media within electronic commerce project teams while maintaining the characteristics of an effective project team.

At first, communication was made through the use of mails, through a landline telephone, and through letters (Bailey 23). However, the last decade or so has seen communication be dominated by text messages, voice messages, and instant messages.
