Good afternoon HFPP,
It is with sincere gratitude and overwhelming appreciation that I send this email on behalf of the Office of Residence and the tri-county community (Somerset,Wicomico & Worchester counties):
Last night's Pumpkinpalooza was proof that the Hawk family is fully invested and totally committed to impacting our campus community and the tri-county community in positive ways!
Each of you played a vital role and served the event with 100% of your energy, virtue and time. Words do not adequately express how grateful I am and how proud I am of each of you for helping to make the first Pumpkinpalooza a success.
As previously noted. I will draft a letter outlining your volunteer participation and the hours served/earned for community
A long time ago in the 1900s there was a woman named Rosemary. She loved fall and wanted some pumpkin seeds. Rosemary decided to go to the farm with her husband Norman and her sister Carrie. Every year they would go to the farm to get pumpkins. This year they were really excited because the farm got better more orange pumpkins. Carrie was in her high 50s and so was Norman. Her sister Carrie was in her high 40s.
During my weekends when I was not playing in baseball I would be volunteering at Waldron Wings which was a Domestic Violence shelter housing women and children who left their broken home. I volunteer at this facility up into its closing at the beginning of my sophomore year. Often times amidst the week I would tutor kids at my own conviction at the Haughville Library just because I would see them struggling and it only made me yearn to liberate their ignorance. Which leads to another one of my ventures which is Toys for Tots which I participated in faithfully in eighth and ninth grade. A group of peers and I would go “Christmas Shopping” and supply kids who were not fortunate enough to receive gifts with toys and games they could only dream of having. I am a high-honor roll student which is evident from me receiving this letter. On top of that, I always dreamed of leaving a mark on my high school career one days and this is one of the many ways attain this goal and impact my
Today I went to the Lantern for the first time. When we arrived and signed in we were told to just go hang out in the living room area and talk to the residents that Cathy would be there around three. We got to talk with the residents and paint pumpkins. The residents are a true blessing.
First Presbyterian of New Orleans is a church that helps the homeless by doing different fundraisers. “Program of HOPE” is one of the best event they do every Wednesday in the morning. “Pumpkin Patch” is another fundraiser that support “Program of HOPE.” “Pumpkin Patch” is event that happens ever yearly in all October month. The main boss of the fundraiser is unknown because everyone works as a team, working in different position. Cheryl Roberts is the Secretary/Administrative Assistant at First Presbyterian of New Orleans and she also the in charge of the volunteers’ sign in. When Mrs. Cheryl have the volunteer’s days, she tells Kristy Ruppel and Leslie Schutt (parent volunteers), who monitor all volunteers outside. Kristy’s husband, Terry Ruppel comes out to the Pumpkin Patch and by helping getting rid of the bad pumpkin to the trash or to keep a look out because we stay out until sunset. When Mrs. Kristy or Mrs. Leslie can’t make it to the day, Mrs. Tracy Helms-Capasso comes too.
My ancestors, grandparents, were born in Haiti. My grandparents were the first to come to America. They left their country of birth because they were looking for a better life and a brighter future for their children and grandchildren. They were mistreated because of the color of their skin and they could not speak English. However, they did stop from reaching their goals of becoming nurses, doctors and engineers. Some even served in the US Army and others in the Air Force. At home, my parents teach us to speak Creole so we can be able to communicate with the rest of the family members who still leave back home in Haiti. It’s a tradition on New Year, we go to church and have midnight prayer for good luck. Interestingly, we had pumpkin
I will graduate from AHS with over one hundred hours of community service. I have gotten most of my hours by volunteering for the Anacortes Parks and Rec, as well as doing volunteer work through my high school. For the APRD, I have been a volunteer coach for volleyball and basketball for many years. I have also gotten some of my community service hours by collecting canned food for local food banks with my different sports teams. Three times a year, my teammates and I go out into the community and collect canned food to help fill the local food banks. The AP Environmental Science Class has allowed me to do volunteer work through the Green Club at AHS. I have gotten community service hours from the Green Club by helping build rain gardens in
You do not have to spend all night waiting in the neighborhood pumpkin patch to enjoy the wonderful fragrance of the Great Pumpkin. Sure, you can spend the night going from house to house hoping that your unlucky streak of receiving a bag full of rocks will end but why wait.
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their classes. I'd also like to thank the student representatives and teachers who helped set this up.
It was finally time for josh and I’s favorite holladay, Halloween. Josh and I love to scare each other and we love candy, so it was the perfect holiday for us. Josh and I would always go out to a pumpkin patch and find the perfect pumpkins for us to carve. My grandma would always help me find the perfect one. My dad would carry the pumpkins to the car.
Like crimson coloured leaves, pumpkin spice lattes and rainy days, the quest to find the perfect pumpkin is a treasured fall ritual. Dippning temperatures and shorter days can only mean one thing. Halloween is just around the corner, and consequently it is time for the annual trek to the local pumpkin patch. This year I decided to don my gumboots and head to Southlands Heritage Farm.
“RIYA!! Wake up” my mom shouted from downstairs i opened my eyes but i couldn’t keep them open.I fell out of bed trying to stroll my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth once i was done i came downstairs everybody was getting ready,
Many thanks to the people who have worked diligently in putting this wonderful event together and making it happen for all of us. Your productiveness is well appreciated and will help benefit us all. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you there!
If I could change a rename a section in a Newsela article about giant pumpkins, originally named “Bring on the Challenge”, I would rename it BFF (Big, Fat Flower). This is because the pumpkin farmers cut flowers from pumpkin vines except one, which turns into a enormous pumpkin. Here is a quote from Newsela:”A pumpkin vine will often produce many flowers that could become pumpkins. The growers remove all flowers but one, to focus all the plant’s energy on making one ridiculously large pumpkin”.This is why I would rename the page BFF (Big, Fat Flower).
People use pumpkins for several things before and after Halloween. Many people love using them to make soups, pies, and also even bread; they also love to decorate and carve them. Jack-o-lanterns and gourds make great decorations, and can even be scary when carved in a certain pattern. Some people even use them to shoot or use them as a target practice. My favorite thing to use a pumpkin for is to bake a pumpkin pie.
I am grateful to those people who gave in their valuable time in filling the poll and giving their colossal collaboration without which the venture would not have been conceivable.
