Summary: The introduction to this source began with “a boycott of Jewish shops and ended in the gas chambers of Auschwitz. Hitler believed that the Jews were to be blamed for Germany's defeat in World War I as well as many economic hardships the Germans endured. Something Hitler also put into play was stating that the ideal German had fair skin, blond hair, and blue eyes. People who didn't have these features and were Jews were sent to concentration camps or treated like outcasts. Because of Hitler, Jews “removed from schools, banned from the

The Holocaust is the period in time when Hitler became Chancellor of Germany on January 30th, 1933 – to when World War II officially ended on May 8th, 1945. The “Final Solution” was a plan Hitler came up with to exterminate every Jew in Germany. Hitler would often use the weekly German Newspaper as propaganda towards the Jews. At the bottom of each issue of The Attacker newspaper it would say “Jews are our misfortune”. When Hitler gained control things went downhill for all Jews and others like them that were different from Nazis and Hitler. The Germans believed that they “were the strongest and fittest, were destined to rule, while the weak and racially adulterated Jews were doomed to …show more content…
Civilians who were forced into harsh labor “worked and often died under deplorable conditions”. Besides Jews, other groups who didn't fit the Nazis racial demands were taken into custody or murdered as well. These people were Roma (gypsies), disabled and mentally ill, communists, homosexuals, and Jehovah Witnesses. Nazis deemed to be a worthy race and inferior among others while they claimed that Jews were an alien race and not inferior. Germans was harsh and cruel towards the Jews especially when Hitler put the “final solution” into
The Holocaust was the persecution and the murder of six million Jews by Hitler, the nazi party and its collaborators. The meaning of the word holocaust is "sacrifice by fire." During the holocaust the government was the Nazi party. The Nazis, who came to power in Germany, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were an alien threat to the so-called German racial community. Germans thought the Roma's (gypsies), homosexuals, and the disabled people were a threat to the Germans as well. They used these groups as a scapegoat due to the depression after the loss of World War II. Hitlers goal during the final solution aimed to isolate Jews from society and drive them out of the country. (ushmm.org)
To introduce the Holocaust, I want to provide a brief overview of the event. The Holocaust was a large scale, state-sponsored, systematic murder of innocent Jews across Europe carried out by the German military and authorities. Germans believed that their race was superior to the Jewish race. Jews were deemed, “life unworthy of life”. (1) The Holocaust was a result of this strong German belief, which led to the attempted annihilation of the Jews. The German government called the plan to annihilate the Jewish people “The Final Solution”. Nearly six million out of the nine million European Jews were murdered in total. This means that two-thirds of the European Jewish population was wiped out in less than 10 years. Although Jews were the main target of the Nazi regime, others were viewed as inferior as well. These peoples included, Gypsies, Communists, Socialists, Jehovah 's Witnesses, some Slavic peoples, and homosexuals.
‘The Holocaust’ was the massacre of nearly six million Jews in parts of Europe controlled by Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party leading up to and during World War II. When the Nazi party first came to power in 1933 they began building on the anti-Semitist feelings in Germany; introducing new legislations that gradually removed the Jews from society such as the Nuremberg Laws which prohibited marriage or extramarital sexual intercourse between Jews and German citizens and required Jews to wear an armband with the Star of David on it so they could be identified as a Jew. Encouraged by the Nazi’s, people began to boycott Jewish ran businesses and in the November of 1938 they were openly attacked,
Hitler believed Germans were racially superior and deemed Jews and other ‘undesirables’ a threat and ‘impurity’ to the community. In 1933, before Nazi Germany came into
During the years of 1933-1945, the German Nazi regime killed around 6 million European Jews as well as others who were seen as mentally retarded or homosexual (McMorran). To the Nazis’ leader, Adolf Hitler, people of Jewish decent were seen as inferior. Hitler had a stereotype that Jewish people were a threat to the German racial purity and community. The Jewish people living in Europe during Hitler’s rule were discriminated against and ultimately were segregated from all other races. During the segregation of Jewish people, Adolf Hitler wanted the Jews to be physically separate from all other ethnic groups and racial groups by forcefully moving the Jews into concentration camps, keeping the Germans the dominant group in Hitler’s eyes. The social concepts and theories of prejudice, segregation and discrimination forced upon the Jewish people were seen as a result of Adolf Hitler’s stereotype about the Jewish ethnicity.
What is the Holocaust? From 1933 to 1945 the Holocaust, which was the most horrific event of that time period that killed millions of people (mostly Jews). The Holocaust happened in Germany which is in eastern Europe. In 1933, Adolf Hitler became the leader of Germany. He was also the leader of the Nazi Party. The Nazi Party was a group of racists how believed that their race was the best, which was the Aryan race. Hitler had an idea, or image of the perfect race called Aryan. His idea or image was tall, white, blonde, and had blue eyes. He thought whoever was not part of the Aryan race was evil and imperfect. He thought to get rid of whoever was not part of the Aryan race. This was mainly focused on the Jews because the Jews had brown hair
Steven Pinker implied that, “As long as your ideology identifies the main source of the world's ills as a definable group, it opens the world up to the mass murder of people” (1). Steven Pinker revealed an interesting side to the controversial topic of mass murders and the causes of them. He revealed that as long as people in this world believe that they are better than other due to their race, religion, and everything else that defines a group of people as different from another group of people. People are and have been wrongfully treated differently due to the incompetence of some to realize that everyone is equal. They often believe that they were superior to others because of their physical attributes and beliefs that they had. The Holocaust is a major example of the ignorance of some in history. This ignorance often resulted in the murders and mistreatment of many. Elie Wiesel was one of the six million plus people who were wrongfully mistreated during the Holocaust. Many believe that this sort of event could not occur in the current time period because people have become more civilized and tolerable to the differences of others, but sadly the world is not ready to contain a social utopia. The mass murder, and violence that is occurring in Darfur is one of the many things that shows that the world is far from achieving this social utopia. Throughout history, many occurrences of genocide have occurred due to the diversity of people and even though society has evolved
The Holocaust refers to the systematic persecution and genocide of 6 million Jews by the Nazi Regime, led by Adolf Hitler. When Hitler was appointed as Chancellor of Germany, discrimination against Jews became a government policy. This was based on the prejudice that Jews were ‘racially impure,’ and threatened Germany’s ability to become a stronger empire1. The unprecedented crime against humanity began in 1933 with the rise of the Nazi Party and peaked in the ‘Final Solution’ where further measures were taken to ensure the removal of the Jewish people from German society . There were numerous methods of instigating the Final Solution, all of which led to the Holocaust.
Our system of excessive communication seems as though it should be an incredible asset in hindering genocides from occurring, yet they are still present and little seems to be said. Activists working to inform people about the issues occurring across the world are now able to make movies and websites that let others be informed, but you would be hard pressed to find an informative activist group with as many viewers as something such as facebook. When you do find places designed to inform you of present world issues such as genocide, they are often politically charged. A website such as “endgenocide.org” is a basic place to start when trying to learn about genocides occurring across the world now and in recent years. It has to be recognized, however, that the website is also incredibly politically charged because not only is it presenting you with the issues at hand, but it immediately follows it up with phrases such as “without immediate action by the United States” (endgenocide 2014) and other politically charged statements.
The Holocaust was a systematic, bureaucratic and state sponsored decision made by the Nazi German Government and their collaborators between years 1936 to 1945 to eliminate all Jews from European society. This decision was known as the ‘final solution’ to the ‘Jewish question’ (Todd Allan 2001). Although German authorities main target was the Jews they also targeted specific groups who were perceived as ‘racially inferior’ including; Roma (Gypsies), some Slavic people (poles, Russians and others), communist, socialist, Jehovah’s witnesses, the disabled, the mentally ill, homosexuals and other people deemed inferior (Introduction to the Holocaust 2016). Jews were the main victims of the holocaust as they were a source of hatred within Germany
The Holocaust was a phenomenon that occurred during the years leading up to and including the Second World War in which Adolf Hitler and his governing Nazi party, systematically persecuted, displaced and ultimately murdered millions of European Jews. This atrocity suffered by the Jewish people has contributed to the shaping of modern society in ways such as the founding the United Nations, a greatly reduced population of Jews in modern day Europe, and the establishment of the Jewish state in Palestine/Israel.

The word holocaust was described as a sacrifice offering burned on an altar; it was also the persecution and planned slaughter for all the Jewish people who were caught during ruling of Hitler. When Hitler began killing all the Jews, the word holocaust became the horrible meaning for, the mass murder of 6 million Jews. “To the Nazi leader Hitler, Jews were an inferior race, an align threat to German racial purity and community.” After many years of being ruled by the Nazi in Germany, during which many Jews were persecuted, Hitler’s “Final Solution,” now known as the Holocaust, came to relization under the cover of world war, with huge killing centers constructed in concentration camps in Poland. Before the horrible slaughter of the Jews, there was a law passed on September 15, 1935, which was called the Nuremberg law, this law was made to eliminate all Jews from their normal life. Which took away their right to citizenship, and their right for marriage was prohibited. Then further laws were made against Jews, prohibiting them to
In January of 1942, Hitler and the Nazis instituted the “Final Solution,” which was an organized and meticulous plan to exterminate the Jews. This plan eventually led to the death of six million Jews and has become one of the most infamous crimes against humanity ever perpetrated. Since the time that the Final Solution has been carried out, historians have debated exactly when Adolph Hitler and the Nazis decided to commit genocide against the Jews. Some historians argue that Hitler had wanted to annihilate the Jews for decades and his plan finally could be implemented in 1942. However, other historians counter that he and the Nazis did not always plan to take such an extreme course of action, and instead tried other things before they settled on genocide, which was only seriously considered very close to the time that it took place. Evidence from the time, though, ultimately disproves the theory that the Nazis committed genocide as a last resort to solve their problems with Jews. Instead, after analyzing historical evidence, one comes to the conclusion that even though the Final Solution was only initiated in 1942, it had been conceived of and planned decades before.
Genocide is a big issue that seems to occur in less developed countries. Genocide is defined as the killing of large groups of people particularly because of their ethnic background. Many groups such as Armenian, Greek, Jews, Serbian, Rwandan etc. have been affected by a genocide. In 1948, the United Nations declared genocide as an intentional crime. Since this was adopted to be an international crime, an international treaty was signed where the ICC had the right to prosecute crimes of genocide. Genocide is a worldwide issue and to this day many people are affected by the events that happened. Although there are many places who have declared some of the mass killings as a genocide there are others who have not even though the tragedy that
