Gentrification and displacement is not talked about as much as other social problems. Gentrification happens when rich people come to urban communities and change the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of a community. Gentrification around the world is mainly happening in poor urban communities. The comparison of the Netherlands, London and Vancouver will explain cultural, social, and political displacement caused by the new age of urban renewal. Big corporations build up urban communities which bring economic stability to neighborhoods, and the low-income residents are forced out. Gentrification is a problem that every country and city has experience rather they know it or not. Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they’ve never seen before. To be forced out of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The people that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their cultural. The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up. For example, going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are getting kicked out will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location. Each resident might move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or mortgage will be lower. Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification together would be; helping the poor residents through government assistances. Some residents do not have the proper income to continue living in the communities once the government or other companies step in and attempt to renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem would be if the government was more involved in helping the residents that are forced out to find better housing or something similar to their current
