The issue that I am talking about in my poster is global warming, water pollution, and air pollution. Global warming is the increase in the earth’s temperature which can lead to drought, flooding, extreme heat or wildfire. Global warming is a threat to many of the polar because mostly the polar bears live on the Artic and the main problem with the polar bears are the sea ice habitat loss due to global warming. Usually, water pollution is when a foreign and toxic substance enters the water. It is important because the pollution in the water can cause harm to the human and ecological system. Air pollution is when a substance that has harmful effects is introduced into the air. It is important because pollution of the air causes health and environmental harmful effects. Not to mention, air pollution causes global warming and can do a lot of severe damage. The target audience of my piece are young adults like us from the age of 15- 30 and it is aimed towards those who fail to notice big issues like water pollution, air pollution, and global warming. This poster can also be targeted towards people who are an environmentalist. People at this age carelessly throws things into the water without thinking of the harmful effects it can to living things. Instead of riding a bike to school or walking, young adults tend to use cars or get a ride from their parents rather than thinking about trying to be eco-friendly. Teenagers and adults need to realize that global warming is happening
During the past several hundred years, civilization has made rapid progress in industries like air travel, automobiles, and energy production. These developments were made without consideration of the long-term effects that their emissions may have on the planet. Changing weather patterns are now wreaking havoc around the world, and scientists attribute this to human-caused climate change. During President Obama’s State of the Union address in 2015, he stated that, “No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change,” (“Remarks by the President”). Warming temperatures caused by anthropogenic climate change have disastrous consequences that pose a threat to humanity and the environment.
Global warming is defined as the recent increase in the world 's temperature that is believed to be caused by the increase of certain gases (such as carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere. There are many different theories on whether global warming is similar or not to climate change. Simplistically, climate change is different because climate change is defined as a change in global or regional climate patterns or, in particular, a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels, having been measured over long periods of time, due to the changes in Earth’s orbit and organic carbon which reflect sunlight. Global warming and climate change are not to be confused because global warming is caused mainly by anthropogenic factors like the emission of carbon dioxide gas and use of fossil fuels whereas climate change is completely natural, however, according to Milan Radovanovic, “it is clear that the anthropogenic factors dominate the increasing temperature and the natural ones have the maximum influence…” (Radovanovic). Therefore, “the contribution to global warming from natural forcings and from natural internal variability is in the range between -0.2 to 0.2 [degrees] celsius over the period 1951-2010…” (Radovanovic). Natural factors have had the most effect on global temperature in the past 59 years totaling a 0.4 degrees celsius increase in
Look around. Every day, everyone will witness some sort of carbonic emission in some form dispersing into the atmosphere. You hear enough about it on the news, whether you care or not. However, the question lingers: is it even that big of a deal? Most likely, if you are a Republican, you will say that Democrats are blowing the whole climate change situation out of the water, or that the warming of our earth is completely natural. Notice how they switched it from global warming to climate change; that is because their previous assumptions and models have not been completely accurate, right? On the other hand, if you are a Democrat, you are most likely seething over the statements you just read and want to do anything you can to prevent this possible catastrophic disaster. 97% percent of climate scientists agree that Climate Change is here and now, caused by all of us… right? Democrats are also more likely to target and blame carbon emissions on the rising temperatures. Nevertheless, William McDonough, a famous urban planner, says that targeting carbon is a purely political move. Further, carbon should be a useful resource for humans, and an imbalanced carbon cycle is to blame. In fact, McDonough claims this imbalance is the result of poor and inadequate urban designing. Are any climate change believers right? Or are Donald Trump and friends correct in pointing the finger at the problem and saying, “wrong!” First and foremost, let us explore the partisan views on the issue.
How does the rising use of fossil fuels impact the earth? The simple answer is that the earth’s temperature rises, otherwise known as global warming. Global warming then devolves into climate change. Global warming has been “proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over decades to millennia” (“Climate Change Evidence: How Do We Know?”) because of the world’s increasing reliance on fossil fuels. World-wide natural disasters, such as Hurricane Harvey, may be correlated to an increased risk in extreme weather events due to climate change. There has been efforts to curb climate change, such as pieces of legislation like the Paris Climate Accord, but beliefs of individual leaders such as Donald Trump, who “claims to think that links between carbon emissions and climate change are ‘a hoax’” (Steadman 19), has halted the fulfillment of such agreements between states. If there is not effective efforts to slow the emission rate, the earth will face devastating consequences. Therefore, the leaders of countries across the world must work together to develop a solution to slow climate change, or else the future will be disastrous.
One of the main problems in the environment is air pollution. Texas has a project in plan to help the air from being polluted. Children and adults are being affected on a daily basis by the air being polluted. However, it is known that children are more affected by the polluted air than adults. Enforcement laws are made to each state dealing with the air pollution and consumers. Air pollution is a main problem that people are seeking to fix.
Climate change and Global Warming are out of control. This means that, no matter what policies, processes or actions are implemented, the Earth as we know it will never be the same again. There is significant evidence to support this hypothesis. The dilemma becomes whether we can limit the damage and adapt to a new status quo or not. Rising sea levels and the damage caused by this phenomenon has irreversible impacts on coastlines worldwide. Damage to sensitive reef systems cannot be fixed. This also has permanent impacts of the ecology not just of those immediate areas but also the ocean as a whole.
With all the talk of global warming and increasing greenhouse gases, many corporations and individuals are attempting to integrate cleaner power sources into their way of life. Power companies are erecting huge wind turbine farms in order to harvest more clean energy. Other companies are attempting to lower their dependence on oil and coal reserves. Many individuals are even getting the “Green” bug. Homeowners around the country are installing solar panels to gather solar power to supplement their home electricity needs. Federal laws even give incentives to install solar panels or wind turbines. But in the State of Oklahoma, homeowners are penalized for installing these green power collectors.
A study done by the environmental nonprofit pure earth stated that “Sixteen percent of all the global deaths are caused by pollution and Air pollution is the fourth highest risk factor of death globally.” According Professor Michael B. from the university of british columbia analysed that two countries accounts “55 percent of their deaths were caused by air pollution”. China had 1.6 and India had 1.4 million deaths due to air pollution. Pollution is when gases, smokes and chemical are released in the air which is a major threat to the environment, humans, plant and animals. Some of the world's pollution is are visible and some are not.
Global Warming and climate change have effected pop culture since the late twentieth century. Human pollution and consumption began in the eighteenth century due to the industrial revolution (Richard Smith). There is a huge difference in what scientists have studied and what is out in pop culture. "Eyes Wide Open,” by Gotye is a wakeup call to the world about human pollution and consumption, and how humanity knowingly is causing global warming without the blink of an eye. Since the late nineteenth century, the world has become aware of global warming but instead of changing the ways of living to help the planet, humanity began the digital revolution. In a world of disbelief, Gotye’s song and video, “Eyes Wide Open,” forces the viewer to visualize the reality of what will come of earth due to human consumption and pollution. “Eyes Wide Open,” promotes a change in the way the world is living through piercing visuals, allusions, tone, and powerful lyrics.
Many advances of modern technology come with unpleasant side effects. In many cases, these side effects occur in the form of air pollution, resulting in previously unforeseen environmental issues. While air pollution has negative effects on many organisms within an ecosystem, a problem caused by air pollution that is affecting humans worldwide is an increase in both number and severity of bronchial asthma and allergic respiratory disease, particularly for those living in urban areas.
Growing up with busy parents lead me to look forward to car rides. I remember that I would rush to the car in pure excitement, so that I could view the beautiful skies dashing passed me as I talk to my parents. It did not matter where we would go as long as I got to be in the car with my family. Music peacefully played in the background as the sun set and my eyes would grow heavy, then I would soon be sound asleep. It was not until recently, when I visited New York City, that I fully awoke to the harsh reality of automobiles. My memory of the once magnificent skies in Oklahoma darkened by smog I witnessed in New York City and the music could no longer be heard over the loud noises of destruction.
The Earth’s geography is always shift and changing its malleable form through various processes. Whether it is through Earths natural erosion process or a natural disaster such as an earthquake or a tsunami. Everyone knows about these type of disasters when they happen, but do they know why they happen or what causes them to happen? This can be better explained by what is called Climate Change. There are people today that actually do not believe in climate change. However, one can argue that something is truly happening to our planet as a whole.
We Americans need more advertising about global warming around the cities and communities. Youngsters need to be educated about the matter because they are the future. They need to be aware of the dangers of the future. Bjorn Lomborg wrote in his essay that global warming is “not anywhere the most important problem in the world” (329). There are by far much more important matters that need to be
Global warming is presenting a lot of environmental and health problems to many countries. A lot of heat gets trapped on earth due to formation of a non-porous layer gases below the atmosphere. The worst effect is felt by developing countries, which are also geographically disadvantaged. The establishment of such countries is on low altitude areas. This position makes developing countries to be direct victims of floods from the melting snow at high altitude areas. A lot of scientific research associates global warming with the numerous irresponsible human activities such as industrialization in the developed countries. These industries emit a high content of greenhouse gases like carbon into the atmosphere on a daily basis. The resultant
Earth is the only place in the universe that can support human life. It is very important that we realize this fact and take very good care of it. Various human activities cause the destruction of earth. Human beings can live a few days without food and water however humans can last only a few seconds without oxygen. Various human activities lead to the aggravation of the quality of air. Gases produced by human activities mainly due to exploitation of resources and industrialization cause air pollution. Green house gases mainly chlorofluorocarbons; carbon
