When people go through their lives, happiness and the joy is what gets everyone through their daily lives. When you’re not feeling well, and you take a bubble bath that makes you calm, or you’re lonely, and one of your friends offers to take you to dinner, it makes you feel better. People want and need happiness in their lives, and everyone can achieve it, if they focus on a few important things. There have been studies done about how happiness is linked to and can be affected by income and how you spend your money. You can also be happier in your life if you think about what kinds of things that you enjoy each and every day. In your life, you can focus on the small miracles, live in the moment and in your experiences, and enjoy nature and the world that is around you to make you happier. Focusing on the small sensations in your life can help you become more positive and optimistic. If you go through every day and you don’t ever think about what is happening around you and appreciate what life brings you, then you may not be as happy as someone who is thankful every day for what they have. Happiness is in the eye of the beholder, what brings happiness to one person may not bring happiness to another person. When I think of the word happiness, I think of descriptive words like Contentment, enjoyment, satisfaction, delightfulness, something that makes a person smile. I have always looked at the word happiness as a feeling, an action, never have I thought of happiness as an overall affect. The story of the movie The Pursuit of Happyness directed by Gabriele Muccino portrays a family who struggles with finding enough money to pay taxes and afford living expenses. The movie takes a place in San Francisco during the 80s. The two main characters are the father Chris Gardner and his son Christopher, Will Smith and Jaden Smith respectively. Gardner tries to support his family. But every time he attempts to make things better, they always end up worse. Gardner in the story wonders on "how to be happy?" According to the Bible “... the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)” Many have grown up listening to songs that teach the fruit of the spirit. For those who do not know this reference It is the attitude people are supposed to hold themselves to. Most people assume that Joy is the same as happiness, but people do not get the option to be happy. This is one of many reasons that Joy is not correlated to Happiness. You do not need to be happy to be joyful because Joy is a mindset, it is not based on emotions, and is permanent and internal.

Everyone has their own idea to what happiness truly is. Some believe that happiness comes from the heart while others believe money contributes to it. Pursuing a career in any field anyone wants to specialize in can bring happiness as well. As I read many different articles about whether money or spirituality have anything to do with someone’s happiness, I concluded that my happiness does depend on these two important topics. Also, there are laws in this country that forbids their citizens to be happy such as, the immigration reform happening now. There are many reasons why people are happy; as well as, many reasons why people are affected by other people’s happiness in a positive or negative way. By researching different articles on happiness, I know my path to happiness is viable.
Happiness may have diverse meanings to diverse individuals. But regardless of how we define happiness, our distinct passions and life experiences contribute in making each one of us cheerful. Undoubtedly, the secrets on how to live a happy and healthy life depends on how we sort out all the factors that play an imperative role in accomplishing the level of happiness we desire for ourselves.
