High School Vs. College

The beginning of a person’s life in based on education. The two main stepping stones in a students life is high school and college. High school and college both play significant rolls in a student’s life for continuing their education. Even though these two levels of education seem similar, they differ tremendously in time management, testing, expenses, scheduling and assignments.

Coming into English 102 I assumed it would be extremely easy and it would be similar to high school English. This was correct, it consistent mainly of writing papers and a few assignments where we had to read something then write about it. As a result of this I believe I did not take the course as serious as I needed to. However along the way I learned multiple useful concepts that will be beneficial to my continuance of college.

Education is a very critical part of a person’s life. There are many levels to education and an abundant amount of students that do not make it to the highest level possible. High school and college are the two main groups that can make or break a person’s education. Between high school and college, there are different requirements and goals needed to succeed. As a student, self-motivation, the value of education, and the responsibilities students must uphold fluctuate among high school and college.

The clock seems like it is on fast forward in college. There is no longer another class period to complete work like there was in high school. Instead, it is to be completed outside of class in a timely manner. The difference of high school and college seems to hit incoming students like a wall. Panic, stress and bags under our eyes seems to be the new norm. Time management is key to successfully complete not only the challenges of a single day productively, but also to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

    High school and college have many similarities and differences, although both require immense responsibility. Responsibility can be defined in a variety of ways, one being “the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization.” While high school requires students to demonstrate some level of self-reliance, college introduces an entirely new level of expectation in regards to individual independence and personal responsibility. In a high school environment the teachers are willing to remind students of deadlines, and hold lax standards for accountability. However, college professors have precise standards in regard to retaking, redoing, or extending time limits for assignments. College means business. If a student fails to do the work, then they have made their bed and will have no other choice but to lie in it. The numerous differing standards of high school versus college are a result of the view that high school students are still children, therefore high schools try to facilitate lower stress levels and allow students to balance their studies with extracurriculars. In contrast, colleges view their students as adults and enforce strict requirements that ensure students act accordingly and succeed to their highest

Education is a vital part of life for growth and success. For a satisfying education most complete high school in order to progress to college. High school and College are two different levels of education that both look to further a student's education. College is the highest level of education one could acquire to obtain knowledge in their career path. High school and college are a matter of apples vs oranges, while both are places of learning, they are utterly different. College differs from high school in teachers,class options, and responsibilities. While the differences are astronomical, they do resemble in classrooms,students, and purpose. College is harder than high school because of the teachers, test, and responsibilities.

A few contrasts between high school and college. High school is compulsory and generally free. Your chance is organized by others. You require authorization to take an interest in extracurricular exercises You can rely on guardians and instructors to help you to remember your obligations and to manage you in setting needs. Every day you continue starting with one class specifically then onto the next, burning through 6 hours every day 30 hours seven days in class. A large portion of your classes is orchestrated you. You are not in charge of recognizing what it takes to graduate. Then again, College is deliberate and costly, your chance is organized by others and you deal with your own particular time. You should choose whether to take an

College is the next milestone for everyone after high school and while students believe that their college will be similar to their high school--they’re wrong. Students find that transferring from secondary school to college is extremely difficult to move on since they don’t what’s expected of them. Senior high and college both have the strongest education someone needs to get, but they have different techniques when giving education to their students. The two have different ways of preparing a student, educating them, and one’s social life.

“With great power, comes great responsibility.” This quote was said by Spider-Man, in the Spider-Man movie. I never thought a quote from a movie that I watched years ago, would pertain so much to my life, but it is more relevant now, while being in college, than ever before. The difference between high school and college is that in college you can drive to San Francisco at one o’clock in the morning and no one can stop you, except yourself. But, the consequence is coming back at six-thirty in the morning, when you have a class that same day. The transition from middle school to high school was a lot easier than the transition from high school to college. During the middle to high school transition you continue to live at home and see your family every day, while during the high school to college transition, you are not capable of doing that. In high school, students have their parents on top of them day and night; always telling them when to go to sleep and finish their homework that must be completed for class the next day. Despite my high school experience and my collegiate experience being united in that they both focus on learning; these experiences otherwise differ greatly in terms of structure.

The first way that high school and college differ is the amount students can depend on others. In high school teenagers are told almost every move to make, but in college student are dependent on themselves. Throughout high school most students are “babied” and do not know how to do things by themselves, but in college that all changes. “No more school bells to tell you when to go to your next class, no teachers reminding you when your homework is due; everything is done completely on your own.” (Estrella) The transition when students go to college is very hard,

Time never stops, or if it does, how we will know? We will not able to notice it. Either way, since it does not stop, life continues, and for all of us, it gets harder. As we grow up, we start to experience what we call “real life,” but where does this real life starts and how we know that it started? Well, many of us feel the drastic change of life when we go from high school to college. Students struggle to graduate from high school in order to go to college. They are told that college is hard, but they are optimistic about it. Optimism grows that college might be a different level, but students also think that it could not be that bad. They are right, college is not bad, it is awesome, but it could also be complicated as they have ever experienced it before. There are many things that change in that transition, but as they get into it, they also realize that there also things such as requirements, responsibilities, class size and even the cost of attendance that are very similar to high school. Despite that there are many similarities and differences between high school and college, college is definitely a place that makes the majority of the students grow as individual beings.

It is important for students already in college to know the similarities and differences between high school and college in order for them to help new students to have a successful transition. Most students are aware of the basic similarities and differences. They know that time management is extremely important in college. Students are aware that they do not have as many restrictions on clothing in college. Also, they may be aware that in college, they will acquire more freedom. If students learn more about the similarities and differences between high school and college, they could provide tips for new students coming into college, such as siblings and other family members. Many students coming into college don’t realize that they will be exposed to different diverse values which they weren’t exposed to in high school. Their values in high school were probably their parents’ values and their decisions were made for them. In college their values will change and they will start making their own decisions.

Both High School and College are different and similar in many ways. They prepare kids for their future and help them choose a career in the process. They structure people to the person they are today and the person they will become in the future. They do have many differences though. Those being different schedules, learning experiences, a student’s freedom etc... Although people would think there would be more similarities than differences, there is not.

High school is a place where students build themselves and in collage they show who they are and what they want to be in future. High schools and Colleges are similar and different places to each other. They are an academic, diverse, small world, but in different levels. For instance, high school is where the students improve their academic, communications, leadership skills in order to be prepared for college. Also, it shows them what categories they are good at by trying all the classes that required from them in order to graduate from high school. Colleges are bigger places than high schools and it is where the students almost will be ready to face the real world, it is where the students will complete their academic skills in the field that they are interested in. From there, they should be able to hold jobs in the field and working in its environments within confidants. During colleges, they started to be responsible especially for themselves, which means by the time they are graduating from colleges, they would be experts at it and completely on their own. Besides, it is a diverse place where they can meet different backgrounds and cultures and learn from others. Now, let’s compare between High School and college to see which of the two places are better for preparing students for the real world out there beyond schooling by examining the teacher, students, and atmosphere.

Many students that have graduated high school or are about to, always wonder how college will be different from high school, which is quite significant. When they reach college, they essentially realize that virtually everything about college is different from high school. This can be a little scary but for the most part, if all the right steps are taken, there should not be a problem. These differences may be hard to adjust to as a freshman in college, but it is necessary that these adjustments are made so that being successful will not be too hard. The main two differences essentially include homework and pedagogue-student relationships. In this essay, I will discuss the particular main distinctions between high school and college and I will express why being responsible is very much-needed in college.
