This year our world might have found a new planet. Researchers at the California Institute of Technology have found a 9th planet, that they call Planet 9. Specifically, a man named Mike Brown leads the research team. Thy have gone so far in saying that there is only a .07% chance of just being created by chance. Brown is known for finding Xena (which is a dwarf planet) and also for his book How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming. It is ten times the mass of the Earth and comes no closer 250 astronomical units (The distance from the sun to the earth) and no farther than 650 astronomical units from the sun. It takes this planet 10,000 to 20,000 earth years to orbit the sun. The researchers haven't yet seen the planet, but there is still
Indeed, most of the problem is that there is no formal definition of a planet. Furthermore, it is very difficult to invent one that would allow the solar system to contain all nine planets. I suggest that for an object to be classified as a planet, it must embody three characteristics. It must be in orbit around a star (thus removing the larger satellites from contention), it must be too small to generate heat by nuclear
My Thesis statement is Phuto was once considered to be a planet but now Pluto is the most famous dwarf planet in our solar system. Pluto is made up of ⅔ of rock and ⅓ of ice. Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh on January 23, 1930. Pluto is very very cold you can't even imagine how much colder it is than Antarctic. If that happen in Earth the air would turn into snow that's how cold it would be about 230 degrees below zero Celsius. When you want to see Pluto up in the sky you can't even see Pluto with your naked eye. Pluto is very hard to see once you look in the telescope it look a little like a star even with the telescope.
In the outer limits of our solar system there is a planet unlike any other, Pluto. Pluto was discovered in February of 1930 by an American astronomer, Clyde Tombaugh. It is the only planet to have been discovered by an American. All though we have known of the existence of Pluto for over thirty years now, there are still many mysteries surrounding this celestial body. Being the farthest planet has made it difficult to study Pluto, Adding to the obscurity of this strange planet is that the capability to send spacecraft such distances has never been achieved. Through the wonders of science and astronomy, there are many things that can be determined, concluded, and hypothesized about this obscure planet.
The discussion about Pluto’s status in our solar system is still in question. The definition of a planet is changing as society advances and as time passes. We used to believe that Pluto was a planet which orbits the sun, but in a weird way since it’s orbit is quite odd compared to other planets in our solar system. Pluto is different such that, it has five moons and crosses Neptune’s orbit. Not only does it do that, it is quite small in contrast to the other celestial body in our solar system. As society advances, we question the definition of a planet and Pluto’s status in our solar system. Our crave for knowledge and curiosity about what’s around us motivates us to explore the unknown. Our desire to learn more is due to the fact that people
Scientists found a new plant that has this star that’s so hot that they disbelieve there could be any molecules living on this planet named “Kelt-9b”. The founders go to the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio the team tells us how this planet is three times bigger than Jupiter, and the star that lives as its next door neighbor is nearly twice as hot as our own sun. The planet moves around the sun like star every one and a half earth days one side of the planet is locked into a face to face with the star which makes the face of Kelt-9b be around 7,820 degrees Fahrenheit. For a long time scientists have been focused on finding small planets by cool stars because technology today it’s easier to study atmospheres of planets potentially find
Pluto was normally accustomed to living with the feeling of a vast pool of darkness. However, that all changed once he met Proserpina. She shocked everyone when she created a spark that was like an unusual light in his eyes that no on had ever seen before. Whenever Proserpina was in his presence, he grew kinder to those around him. Before Proserpina lived with Pluto, she once before lived with her mother Ceres, the goddess of harvest. She grew up alongside nature so being taken to the underworld; a place where living things always died came as a huge shock to her at first. Instead of the warmth felt when the sun rose, she felt a coldness engulf her, as it was always set. The goddess of harvest quickly grew sad with the unnerving loss of her daughter, which resulted in her not doing her job that was to create food for the Earth. Hours turned into days turned into months until she came to the solution to share her daughter with Pluto.
In 1906 Percival Lowell, an American mathematician and Astronomer, initiated a research project to find the infamous “Planet X,” the possible ninth planet. Sadly, Lowell died before completing the project. However, his research captured two pictures of Pluto that no one recognized as the ninth planet. After Lowell's death, the search did not resume until the late 1920’s, when Tombaugh was entrusted with the “PLanet X” project. At the time Tombaugh was 23 and spent a year photographing the night sky and analyzing the images. On February 18th, 1930, Tombaugh discovered a possible moving object in an image taken that Janurary. After this more proof was found that “Planet X” had been discovered (Williams
If you are interested in planets, then Pluto’s history, similarities the sun, and fun facts are for you!
For those of you still upset over Pluto's demotion, there may be a new ninth planet. Or at least NASA scientists believe it exists -- and they want you to help find it.
As i was growing up all my science teachers will always say that there was 9 planets in our solar system. But as time went by, little by little the 9 planets started fading, now in days there still debating whether considering Pluto a planet or not. According to scientists, pluto does not meet the standards that fall under the category to be a “planet”. Pluto has many features that they considered to be a dwarf planet like: its large distance from the sun, that it doesn't have its own orbit, its temperature is extremely cold, all these facts are the reason why many people are still debating pluto's status. Pluto was found by Clyde Tombaugh, an astronomer from the United States in 1930.
The debate concerning Pluto’s planetary status had been going on for decades before the International Astronomical Union’s almost unanimous verdict in 2006 to designate it a dwarf planet. Many distinct people had many dissimilar suggestions, but the argument was mostly torn between those wishing for Pluto to retain planetary status and those proposing another classification. Neil DeGrasse Tyson wrote The Pluto Files: The Rise and Fall of America’s Favorite Planet to examine why Pluto ought not to be considered a planetary body and instead a dwarf planet or Kuiper Belt Object (KBO).
“Pluto” was the supposed ninth planet of our solar system, unfortunately discovered by Clide Tombaugh. The name of the newly found celestial object was chosen by a small girl from, the best nation in the world, Britain. The apparent demon worshiper chose the name Pluto, after the Roman god of the underworld. Pluto held the status of a planet until 2006 when the IAU declared it a dwarf planet. Despite the IAUs categorization of Pluto as a dwarf planet, devoted fans of “Disney”, conspiracy theorists, and malevolent Pluto-huggers alike reject the prospect.
In the year 2065, climate change on Earth has spiraled out of control and nations are now fighting for new real estate in space to begin colonization. Mars had been a likely candidate for many years now and was becoming a massive fighting ground for numerous nations. However, it’s arid landscape and small size made it a questionable choice to some. More adventurous and risk-taking politicians urged their researchers to aim for Pluto or planets outside of our solar system. Feeling modern technology was not yet ready for such long distance travel, the United States has chosen to look toward the asteroid belt. As they are setting off, researchers will monitor sunspots to help forecast the behavior of the sun and predict coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Solar-powered sails will make use of solar wind for the early journey after leaving Earth. Radioisotope thermoelectric
At first, we must talk about the whole system, I mean the solar system. The solar system consists of 8 planets and many dwarf planets. Pluto has become a dwarf planet since 2006 this for who will take about 9 planets. The Sun is our store which provides us with energy and heat. Sun can control all planets and comets in a field of its gravity; which covers a great area in space. The Sun moves at a speed of 20 km/s or 12 mile/s towards constellation Lambda pulling all planets with it around our galaxy ''The Milky
Once upon a time on the now dwarf planet pluto; the milky way galaxy which was home to three heros. The hero's names were green fluff the oldest of them all at 50 years old, Green Fluff was the most unspoken one and the one that had made the move at the very end and saves everything. Green Fluff had randomly saved a cat that was on the roof for 3 hours and couldn’t get down he had always had something weird in his fluff that covers his whole body to use to be useful like the small pillow that he had pulled out of his fluff so that the cat could fall safely of the 4 story roof.
