Kudler Fine Foods Virtual Organization In 1998 Kathy Kudler, who specializes in gourmet foods, founded Kudler Fine Foods; opening the first location in La Jolla California. Later Kathy opened two additional locations; in 2000 Del Mar and in 2003 Encinitas, California. Kathy had an idea to offer a shopping atmosphere for those people who cook gourmet style. By observing the purchases made by the customers, and examine the contracts with the distributors, Kudler Fine Foods could cut down on the frequent ordering of products, giving Kathy more time to concentrate on other functions of the business.
Competitive Intelligence and Analysis Competitive intelligence and analysis is an important part of a business. Competitive intelligence is the art of defining, gathering, analyzing, and distributing intelligence about products, customers, competitors, individuals, concepts, information, ideas or data needed to support executives and managers in making strategic decisions for a business. This includes a broad array from government intelligence to market intelligence to business intelligence (Competitive Intelligence, n.d.). Competitive intelligence can include competitor analysis, knowledge management, market research, and business strategy and business research. Competitive intelligence can be used as an everyday business tool to analyze stocks or look for weaknesses in the competitor (Competitive Intelligence, n.d.). If Kudler Fine Foods is trying to figure out what it means for a small business it is seeing where or how the competition advertises. Kudler Fine Foods should receive the competitors distribution list or sign up for any e-newsletters they may be sending to see what they are saying and what

The intent behind the development of Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Buyer Program is to increase the level of customer loyalty. The system will be broken down into two different levels; the frequency of a buyers shopping with Kudler Fine Foods and the amount of money that the buyer spends with each purchase. A program like this is typically used as a marketing strategy that is “enabled by point-of-sale technology to record and store customer purchases in exchange for rewards’ (Appel, p. 156, 2006). A web-based shopping program will be used to enhance the Frequent Buyer Program for Kudler Fine Foods.
The retail sectors are specializing in the selling of products that the consumers need in specific times and places. However, it is hardly the retailer's responsibility to produce the goods. The retailers just act agents, as they get the products to the consumers. Industrial retailing will focus more on the sale of small quantities of the products to the buyers. Transformational processes are not integrated in the retailing processes, as the retailers neither produce nor manufacture any goods. Initially, retailing was just transacted in stores and shop. Presently, technological upgrades and developments have affected the retailing process positively, leading to the use of electronics to do transactions. In most cases, the retailers will transact with cash specifically during payment of the products (Retail Council of Canada, 2009).

Also Kudler needs to make sure that their prices stay competitive to other catering services in the area. They can offer services that may result in a higher fee; for example it will cost more to have the meal prepared by a celebrity chef. They should be flexible with the costs offering different meals at different costs to the customer. It cannot be stressed enough that Kudler needs to focus on staying competitive since this is a new service that will be added and they do not have the reputation of some other catering companies in the area.
