Milton Glaser is one of the greatest graphic designer in the United States. He was born on June 26, 1929. He was born in the Bronx of New York. He lived most of his live in New York. He created covers, poster, and also expressed himself using graphic designs. He attended Manhattan’s High School of Music and Art. He then got a Fullbright Scholarship to the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. When Glaser was twenty-five he created Push Pin Studios with Reyonld Ruffins, Seymour Chwast, and Edward Sorel. First, he thought of the purpose of the design. Was it for a certain company or group, or was it to express something. He had to be creative and include many perspectives in a usually simple design. He also had to make the design interesting to gain it more exposure. He needs to think of what community or demographic will be viewing the design, and fit it to that demographic.
Milton Glaser used color to make a design pop. He often uses black and white in the majority of a design. He will use any bright colors in certain places to put emphasis on the item. Glaser likes to use different reds, oranges, purples in his designs. One of his works, a poster for Bob Dylan, shows this style. Glaser created a silhouette that is black. One enlisted soldier from Norwich, Vermont was named Daniel Currier; a farmer that left his home to the treachery of war. Daniel Currier was a soldier who trained to enter battle, nonetheless, it was not the exciting adventure he most likely expected, he probably expected to battle with the South. Even when he did get onto the battlefield, it was more horrific than he would have ever thought After this horrifying encounter with war he decided to and headed back home to his loving family and work as a farmer. During Latimer's second year of studies, the Civil War broke out and Latimer left VMI to serve the Southern Confederacy. He first served as cadet drillmaster for the Richmond Hampden Artillery during the spring and summer of 1861. In the fall, he was commissioned as a first lieutenant and saw action with Maj. Gen. Richard S. Ewell's division in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1862. After distinguishing himself with his battery at such battles as First Winchester and Cedar Mountain, Latimer was promoted to command of the battalion that had previously belonged to A. R. Courtney. This book also helps in understanding the consumers and the history of Graphic Design and also talks about a range of theories and introduces a collection of concepts and sources for future use and reference. In this book, Meredith Davis talks about the relationship of visual representation to the contexts of design. It talks about focusing on the broad and long term aftereffects of design and not to design only for the moment and responding to prompt needs.
